    The Arsenal Thread

Not the best time considering our season has just imploded. Again. But there's a thread for the other non-trophy winners; Chelsea and Liverpool - so why not Arsenal?

The greatest team the world has ever seen. Discuss!

At least you could have added something else than what Stubbs wrote in ManUtd thread.

Anyways this is good, all clubs having separate threads where we can discuss even about youth..

I think Arsenal will be even stronger than this season, and i feel it is better to lose Fabregas and build team without him just like how Liverpool did by selling Torres.

    Happy?

Also - let's get some discussion going...

The poacher: Yay or Nay this summer? (Do Arsenal go into the market for a poacher in the mould of Darren Bent or not?)

  7. Hope you win something next season, at least emirates cup
    ...
I can see Arshavin, Diaby, Bentner, Fabianski, Almunia in transfer window and someone like Gharet N'kufo ( if you dont know who he is, Arsene knows, dont worry )

Actually didn't even see the MUFC thread. Just posted the truth is all

Hmm - completely different situations tbh. Torres was out of form and Liverpool needed the money.

I expect someone to come along and suggest that Fabregas has also been out of form and hasn't played well this season and therefore wants to leave to Barca but I strongly reject this claim. He's had a tight hamstring pretty much all season and didn't get a pre-season because of the whole winning the World Cup thing Torres was out of form even towards the end of last season, though iirc and clearly didn't get on with Hodgson and his tactics.

Cesc on the other hand clearly has a lot of time and respect for everything Wenger has done for him (If he didn't come to Arsenal - where would he be now? Like Bojan on the bench? Wasting away his potential with a handful of First Team apps?). He may well want to go back to Barcelona but I think he cares about the team and Arsenal are under no financial pressure at all to sell.

The team and tactics at the moment is built around him - if he goes, Ramsey will be his natural replacement but Arsenal will try and hold out and I think they can successfully block Barca's attempts (if they make any - Rossell has already said he won't "break the bank"; whatever that means considering their in masses of debt anyway)

yay, but it will be a wide left poacher as opposed to one up front

Hmm - Fabianski and Diaby almost certainly won't be up for sale. I'm not sure Bendtner will be either.

    1. Fabianski - Proved himself to be a very good goal-keeper when he wants to be and when he focuses on his job. Has made mistakes this season and in previous ones but he bounced back after Almunia was dropped and was superb until his injury.

    2. Diaby - versatile, strong, good on the ball. Positionally indisciplined - that's his only real flaw as well as always wanting to play the perfect pass (meaning he dwells on the ball a lot). Good back-up and unless he's desperate to play First Team football every week, he'll stay I think.

    3. Bendtner - again: Fairly versatile... Shown he can cut in from the wings (See his goals against City, Ipswich, Leyton Orient, Blackburn last year in the 6-2 etc.) and is good in the air. Still not quite the complete player and will struggle for starts with RvP fit and Chamakh hopefully improved but Wenger likes him for several reasons and I don't think he's for sale unless a good offer comes in.
