The Taste of Champions League Glory!!!

The Champions League has it's own unique atmosphere, anticipation, quality and every manager wants to boast "I won the Champions League with this team or that!" But anyone with massive budgets and a great squad and fans can win it. But not everyone can win it with little cash, an average squad and little reputation. So I have set myself a target to win it with any team but I have to start at a smaller European club like Zenit St. Petersburg. So what team will I chose? What players will I have? How much cash will I have to spend? And how big is my club? The answer is I will be managing Galatasaray and my key players will be Milan Baros, Harry Kewell, Arda Turan, Emre Gungor and Morgan de Santis. So the challenge begins for Paul Wang and his troops, will he fail or will he suceed? More information coming up..........
Btw, I will be doing a diary on Turan's point of view too!!

Galatasaray:
Stadium: Ali Sami Yen
Stadium Size: 23785 all-seater
Youth Facilities: Excellent
Training Facilities: Top
Estimated Value: £60m (£27m Loan Debt)
Competition: Champions League
Media Prediction: 1st in Turkcell Sϋper Lig
Finances: Okay
Chairman Status: Loves The Club
Reputation: Continential
Coming up......... Tactics, Players, Training and Coaches Info!!!

Arda Turan has spoken to Match of The Day Magazine Exclusively!!!

Media: So how do you like the new boss?

Arda: He seems very ambitious. He has just started management and says we can win the Champions League very soon.

Media: What are your thoughts about your long term future?

Arda: I want to stay here at Galatasaray for at least this season and then we'll see.

Media: Do you think the manager's tactics suit you?

Arda: I normally play on the left but because Harry (Kewell) is here I am on the right, I don't mind though!!

Media: Thanks Arda, have a good day.

Arda: Thanks, bye.

Training
Paul's friend Tug will oversee the you training (TT Youth) and Wang will personally oversee the senior training (My own training schedule).

Diary Entry #1
Phew! What a day. The new boss invited me in his office for a cuppa and some biscuits, not that I touched the cuppa, I much more prefer water of course. Anyway, we talked about my role at this club and my future. I said I don't want to leave this season and he was happy. So then we talked about me getting a new contract, a one year extention until May 2013. I get a wage rise of £500 p/w!! I then went to training and the boss was impressed with me. He split in to two sides in training and our team was:
De Sanctis
Ucar - Meira Cetin- Yaman
Linderoth
Sas Me
Lincoln
Nonda - Sultan (youngster just got promoted)
So we had a great Mid, a nice defence and a okay strike force. We lost 2-1 to a Baros header and Kewell volley, I got a consolation from the spot. So overall a good day. I will only be writing in this log if something significant happens in a day.
So it's night, night for me now, it's nearly 11 o'clock adn we have a friendly tommorow!!! The boss is coming!!! I got to go to sleep now. P.S. We are in a private house which we all live in for the nights before matches and it is right next to our training ground!!

I accidentally holidayed a Champo League game vs Schalke 04. We drew 0-0 at home!
Ref messes up in cup clash!!

Warner: "Ref was fair"
The referee has come under massive pressure after being biased towards Kesyrispor. Baris Simsek was accused by various members of the Galatasaray camp of unfairness but Fifa have decided against taking action. Jack Warner, the Fifa vice-president said "We do not want to penalize refs just because a team lost and cannot be fair enough to accept defeat!! We (Fifa) did not see anything wrong with the ref and we may dicipline Galatasaray, such as giving the Club a fine." Arda Turan said "I felt someone from the other side take my legs out from behind when I was in the box. I feel cheated and annoyed!!" It is unsure how Galatasaray will react to Warner's speech.
However the match was an even affair due to the fact that only three first team players started for Galatasaray, these were Sabri, Kewell and Nonda. Turan and Baros came on at Half-time and Lincoln came on in the 56th minute after Ozbek's sending off and did create a few chances. However Purovic, Durak and a Cangele penalty gave Kesyrispor the 3-2 win today.
Overall Mom: Harry Kewell (8.0)

Btw, I restarted my computer and forgot to save it so I holidayed the game and lost 2-0.

Entry Number #2
We drew vs Trazonspor 1-1. It was bad. Colman put them in front in the first half. Meira equalised from one of my corner in the second. We put in an okay performance but we got a bad result. I hope we win in Gelsenkirchen against Schalke, we really need it. Lincoln is out injured and may miss the game

The Full Stop
Well, this marks our end to a disappointing Champions League campaign where the board expected us to get to the group stages. We were given a tough draw to German outfit Schalke 04 and we knew that we would have a chance, but they would have a even bigger chance. My assistant took over the 1st leg (because I accidentally holidayed it) and we drew 0-0 at home. Not a bad result but we could of done better. And then we traveled to Gelsenkirchen, Germany and lost. It's as simple as that, this season we didn't have enough depth or cash. I had a stupid budget of 425k to start off with only 60% of transfer revenue made avaliable for my own budget. So we started the Schalke game very poor and sloppy marking let them take the lead. We looked like we were homesick in the 1st half and let in another. When the second half started you could see that all our confidence was gone, it had been destroyed by the two first half goals. So they went and got their third through Jefferson Farfan. We didn't give up though and with great fighting spirit, Baros smashed the ball into the open net after Schober (Stuggart 'keeper) dropped it right at his feet. Harry Kewell, the former Anfield favourite, got a good goal of the post on the 85th minute after a great cross-field cross by Sabri (Sariogulu). We then won a couple of freekicks but they were poorly taken. Consequently, our Champions League dream slipped from our grasp.
*Note that I changed the mentality at Half Time to All-Out Attack

Exclusive interview with
Man of the Match

Farfan "It was a fantastic atmosphere"
Jefferson Farfan stole the show at Gelsenkirchen last night with his brilliant runs, shots and passes. So what does he think of his performance?
When asked about what he thought of his performance he said "I am pleased with getting the MoM award and want to thanks my team mates, manager and fans for helping me achieve this. The fans helped me get up for this and score a goal, we were great as a team but shouldn't of let in the goals at the end like we did. "
Farfan has been linked with a move to free-spending Man City despite only joining a month ago. He had this to say about his future " I want to stay at Schalke for a long time and help them achieve what they can."
Interviewed by John Motson,
BBC Motd commentator

The goals were all evenly spread out which was good, with the assists spread out again. Sabri needs to improve his temprement and Meira got a Mom due to the fact he scored against Trazonspor.
If anyone wants screenies or a new feature I will try and do it for you.
Comments and Feedback welcome.
