What are key passes ?
A pass that leads to a goal-scoring opportunity.
Key passes are passes which break the line, this can cause a goal-scoring opportunity but it often doesn't for instance if a playmaker dribbles through the centre and then plays a ball between the opposition centre back and full back to his winger, this is a key pass. It doesn't matter what the winger then does, so he could fluff the cross and so there would be no CCC but a key pass. Does that make sense
At least in real-life statistical analysis, key passes mean passes leading to shots.
