I have cancelled Josh McEachran's loan on the editor because I want at least one English player worth developing (that isn't already Premier League standard) from the start.Attachment 300322
ROBERTO REJECTS ROMAN
Roberto Di Matteo today becomes only the second manager to reject Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic.
The Italian rookie guided Chelsea to FA Cup and Champions League glory, the latter being the first him in the club's long history, and Abramovic was reportedly keen to sign the caretaker manager on a permanent basis, but Di Matteo had other ideas. The Russian billionaire offered 'Robbie' a lucrative two year contract, but Di Matteo rejected the offer and has left the club. The reason behind his snub is unknown, however many believe it is because Di Matteo believes his, now former, boss doesn't really want him, and that he has been pressured into offering him a new deal due to his success.
Pep Guadiola and Rafael Benitez are the outstanding favorites for the vacancy at Stamford Bridge.
GEORGE TAKE CHARGE AT CHELSEA
Chelsea have announced on their club website that Matthew George will manage the club.
George, 39, played for Chelsea between 1990 & 2008, his final appearance coming against Manchester United in the 2008 Champions League final. Since retiring from playing, he has worked as a coach with Chelsea's youngsters, and was appointed Robert Di Matteo's assistant when he took caretaker charge in March. The former midfielder's future was in doubt after Di Matteo left the club, however the club have announced he will take charge immediately, signing a 12 month contract.
George had become an icon in the eyes of the Chelsea fans, in the same way as the man he replaced had, and has played with many of the current squad, most notably, the players Chelsea are rumored to be trying to replace, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and John Terry. He has also played with Petr Cech, Mikel John Obi, Florent Malouda and Paulo Ferreira of the current squad, and Branislav Ivanovic became a member of the dressing room 5 months before George retired.
