Italian 352

  1. Italian 352

Hi! I would like to share with you a tactic that I designed in the recent weeks and that has been performing very well for me when managing Juventus and Wolves. It produces a solid, possession-based football, similar to the football Juventus are playing for an year and a half since Conte is manager and the football that earned them Seria A title last season while being undefeated for the whole season. Italian national team in the last year's European Championship consisted of many Juventus' players and also adopted the same tactic in some of their games.

Italian teams have been notorious for their tactical discipline and aggressive tackling in the past decades. Conte manages to mix successfully that defensive mentality with considerable pressing, massive amount of players in or around the enemy penalty area as well as creative and skillful passers.

The tactic is designed by the Tactic Creator and some minor changes in players instructions.

    Style: Balanced
Strategy: Control (if playing against a weaker team), Standard (a careful approach)
    Passing: Shorter
    Creative Freedom: Default
    Closing Down: Press More
    Tackling: Default
    Marking: Zonal
Crossing: Float Crosses (if the strikers have decent aerial ability) otherwise Default
    Roaming: Default
    Time Wasting: Rarely

    The players:

The requirements for the players are relatively high. Teamwork is vital for all players except the Advanced Forward. After all, 8 players take part in defensive phase + 1 supporting DLF, pressing the enemy defensive midfielders, 6 players take part in transition phase + 1 BPD, 6 players take part in attacking phase + 1 DLP who stays in front of the enemy penalty area. However, I managed to build a good squad even before the first season started with a not very reputable team like Wolves (BPDefenders like Pique, Vermaelen, Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Bonucci are really hard to find in Championship). In Premier Division most of the teams have suitable players for this tactic, for example Tottenham, Fulham.

GK - the best available with at least decent Concentration (everybody in the squad except the strikers should have decent Concentration especially the players, involved in the defensive phase); change his passing style to very very shot and distribution to Defender Collect and distribute to the BPD

CDL Stopper! - the recommended by the game attributes as well as good (13+) Acceleration, Pace, Teamwork and Work Rate; decent passing helps - if not lower his passing instruction to very very short; at least reasonable with left foot with recommended PPMs Dives into Tackles, Plays Simple Short Passes, Stays Back Stays Back At All Times
BPDC Cover! - the recommended by the game attributes as well as good Teamwork and not very bad First Touch, Off The Ball and Influence; lower his Through Balls instruction to Sometimes; recommended PPMs are Tries Long Range Passes and Stays Back At All Times
CDR Stopper! - the recommended by the game attributes as well as good (13+) Acceleration, Pace, Teamwork and Work Rate; decent passing helps - if not lower his passing instruction to very very short; at least reasonable with right foot with recommended PPMs Dives into Tackles, Plays Simple Short Passes, Stays Back Stays Back At All Times

DLPC Support - the recommended by the game attributes as well as decent (10+) Dribbling, Balance and Strength; recommended PPMs are Tries Killer Balls Often, Tries Long Range Passes, Dictates Tempo

WML Automatic (set his Tight Marking to Yes and Wide Play to Hug the Touchline) - the recommended by the game attributes as well as good (12+) Dribbling, (13+) Acceleration and Pace and not very bad defensive attributes; at least fairly good with left foot with recommended PPMs Hugs Line, Gets Forward Whenever Possible, Runs with Ball Down Left, Avoids Using of Weaker Foot (if his right foot is weak), Knocks Ball Past Opponent (if he has very good acceleration). The wide midfielder with better attacking attributes should play near the BWM and the wide midfielder with better defensive attributes should play near the APM.
BWM Support - the recommended by the game attributes as well as good (11+) Dribbling, First Touch, Off The Ball, Composure, Decisions and very good (14+) Natural Fitness; recommended PPMs Dives Into Tackles
APM Support - the recommended by the game attributes as well as good (11+) Dribbling, Long Shots, Composure, Off The Ball, Natural Fitness and not very bad defensive attributes; recommended PPMs are Tries Killer Balls Often, Dictates Tempo, Gets Into Opposition Area
WMR Automatic (set his Tight Marking to Yes and Wide Play to Hug the Touchline) - the recommended by the game attributes as well as good (12+) Dribbling, (13+) Acceleration and Pace and not very bad defensive attributes; at least fairly good with right foot with recommended PPMs Hugs Line, Gets Forward Whenever Possible, Runs with Ball Down Left, Avoids Using of Weaker Foot (if his left foot is weak), Knocks Ball Past Opponent (if he has very good acceleration). The wide midfielder with better attacking attributes should play near the BWM and the wide midfielder with better defensive attributes should play near the APM.

AF Attack (plays in front of the APM) - the recommended by the game attributes with decent (10+) Decisions, First Touch, Creativity, Passing and good (13+) Acceleration; at least reasonable with both feet and recommended PPMs Moves into Channels, Likes to Beat the Offside Trap, Attempts Overhead Kicks (if he has bad aerial ability), Knocks Ball Past Opponent (if he has very good acceleration), Runs With Ball Trough the Center (if he is good in Dribbling); Do not train him in Comes Deep to Get Ball!
DLF Support (plays in front of the BWM) - the recommended by the game attributes with good (14+) Balance and Strength; a Complete Forward who runs with ball sometimes, at least reasonable with both feet and recommended PPMs Plays With Back To Goal, Comes Deep to Get Ball, Plays One-Twos (if there another of our players nearby with the same PPM); Do not train him in Likes to Beat the Offside Trap!

Set the Long Shots instruction to rarely for all players who doesn't have awesome Long Shots attribute.

I use another 2 versions of this tactic - one with Attacking Strategy (switch the passing to Mixed or if you have a very creative squad do not touch the passing but switch the Creative Freedom to More Expressive) and one with Defensive or Counter Strategy.
If you switch to Attacking do not instruct the wide midfielders to hug the touchline anymore since the width will be high enough to stretch enemy's defense and you should not take any more risks at the flanks. Also, if the team is attacking, using mixed passes and Width: Wide, the players should not be very far away from each other unless the team has really awesome passers. Enable the Counter Attack and set the Closing Down to Default.
If you switch to Defensive do not instruct the wide midfielders to hug the touchline since you do not want to take any more risks at the flanks and also perform as many successful short passes as possible. Set the Time Wasting to Often and passing Through the Middle.
If you switch to Counter do not instruct the wide midfielders to hug the touchline since the enemy defense is stretched enough because they are pushing forward. Set the Time Wasting to Sometimes and passing Through the Middle.
(I used some of the instructions from TheBetterHalf's 352 Diamond for the wide midfielders)

Warning! You should be very careful about enemy wingers especially awesome players in the AML/AMR positions. It is the one and only weakness of the tactic and in order to nullify it move the wide midfielders to the wingback position. Also, do the OI carefully (if your players do not show a player like Valencia on his weaker foot you might have serious headaches). An advantage of this tactic is that you can close down dangerous enemy players always since the BPD provides a cover for the stoppers. You should increase the Closing down instruction of the defenders slightly from the recommended by the game values in the Standard, Defensive and Counter strategies. The stoppers should challenge the enemy wingers in front of the penalty area and often before the wingers cross the ball.

Remember to train your players in Team Cohesion and Match Training: Tactics Only (40%) in the preseason friendlies. When the season starts train in Balanced and Match Training: Att. Movement (20%) (it depends on your approach to the next match). It is profitable to organize friendlies whenever the season schedule allows it and use Match Training: Tactics Only until your team is fluid in all areas of the tactics.

    Good Luck & Have Fun!

  2. where is the download?

  3. There is no download, it is a tactic that is made by the Tactic Creator and some minor changes in the recommended by the game instructions. You can create it by yourself in a few minutes.
