Arrigo Sacchi's 4-4-2: High Pressure, Attacking Tactic for Top Teams and Underdogs

  1. Gonna try and emulate the success of everyone else with a national team. Who's the best national team to do this with? Preferably one not in the top 15.

Douglas Costa not team player. team working is very weak. i think, RM => valencia, belhanda, grosskreutz, LM => yarmolenko
Sebastien Corchia is good. so you use to Sebastien Corchia in RM. i used to, and he played very well.

  8. 13 game unbeaten run ended at Sunderland Should still be okay for Europe though! Trying to get Aboubakar on a free for the summer.

Just never did OI. I think that OI's destabilize the tactic.

    What did i do wrong?

What's your current line-up? What have you set your Match Training Focus to? Are the team's Morale generally very good? Also, did your Team Talks work?

There's alot of factors really and in FM, little things like team talks or morale could either be make or break for a match. I mean, you could do a masterpiece of a strategy but if your players aren't in on it, you won't get much results. Try to build a hard-working, determined team. That should put you in a good spot.

Finally, don't expect to win games, week in, week out but concentrate on building a good momentum with the team. The tactic's brilliant, work on micro-managing the team. This tactic will get you the league title season after season but you're gonna need good players for continental competitions and such. I wouldn't worry much though, seasonal wins gets me the funds I need to strengthen the team more, after all, if I win the CL at first try, I'd get bored.

On a side note, 3rd season kicks off with my Valencia save, had my revenge against Sevilla after beating them 2-0 on both legs for the Spanish Super Cup.

Agreed, I binned the OI and games started to be better, the team held their shape more like a unit. Also, I'd rather concentrate on my team than the oppositions. The tactic's good enough to get the job done, usually it's a matter of whether my players are cut out for it or not.

  17. Hi,

Do not understand below. Which 2 settings must 1 avoid??

I thought below is what you mentioned we should do??

Closing Down Always - any player in DM, M/AM F RLC who has pace/acc less than 12 or possesses 14+ long shots. Any D RLC with an attribute in composure, concentration or decisions less than 10.
Tackling Hard - any player with Bravery less than 12.
Show Onto Weaker Foot - Anyone who's weaker foot ability is very weak, weak or reasonable.

I hope this helps. However this tactic can also be used as plug and play, not always a need for the OI. It just helps give that little bit of an edge I feel.

Hello, what he meant was never use the option RARELY or NEVER in the Opposition Instructions. Instead, use ALWAYS.

    Hope that helps.

    Completely agree with above.

1st Season I used OI's and finished about 7th or 8th with Farnborogh

2nd Season using the same squad I came 1st without using OI's.

Perhaps I was using the wrong instructions having a poor Assistant Manager but tactic does seem to do a lot better without OI's in my experiences.

  21. Go go Daejeon Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power

Media prediction 10th, finished 2nd. This included a notable 5-0 win against promotion rivals Busan Transportation Corporation although we could never catch those bankers () at the run away league champions Goyang Kookmin Bank.

I only made one signing all season (very limited transfer and wage budgets), the rather deliciously named Jang Jong-Bum, who proved to be excellent in defensive midfield.

I made no changes from seanhrfc's original tactical guidelines, using OIs and def. positioning match prep. Team training was set as Tactics/High throughout the season as the Daejeon KHNP team are part-time and I only have one coach. Tactics are still far from fluid even at the end of the season.

    This tactic works everywhere.

  22. Hi @xxlin!
I manage to win the Prem in first season, with 'Pool. The key for me was thinking a bit on the opposition players and weakness. Against the top sides, I ALWAYS select the more defensive players. For example, I have Gary Medel and Daniel Agger at full backs. Henderson and Downing on the wings. Gerrard and Lucas were the better options in the middle. They complement each other perfectly!
Never lose to anyone, except with City (totally battered them, there's a SS on other pages). The other, with Chelsea, was before using this tactic

  23. Hello guys, I would like to know what pre season training are you use? Because it is not clear at the first post. Does anyone help me or post a screenshot or something?

    Thank you in advnance

  24. Just finished my first season, not sure how to print screen it but I won the league W31 D10 L5, many of my draws and losses were towards the end of the season when the league was won. Not bad saying Walsall have very basic strikers in Grigg, Bowerman and Brandy. It was really tough to loan players in with the teams low reputation and strict budget.

I did manage to get lots of experienced free players in Papa Bouba Diop, SalIf Diao, Djimi Traore, Habib Beye in the second half of the season who helped add much needed steel.

  25. Hi Jukilo,

How do you use borini and sturridge in your game?? AF or CF??

  26. I use Sturridge at AF, normally with Suarez or Coutinho as CF. He scored 25/30 goals there.

Borini didn't perform very well for me. I tried him as CF and AF. I mean, he scores (10/15 at maximum) but I guess that's not that good. Don't know why though, because he has some good stats for the both positions. So, in second season, I've sold him to Milan. Replaced with Falcao..

Once the players come back from their holiday, I'd usually have them max towards their match training which is set to tactics. This way, it helps getting the formation back to fluid again. Next, I have their general training on fitness with very heavy focus. Once its fluid, I ease off the focus slider to bout mid-way, more towards less match training.

I then arranged around 10-11 friendlies against very easy teams. It gets the morale high and once the players are match fit, I then have the general team training on 'team cohesion'. Usually takes around 3-4 games before I change it though.

Credits to Cleon from SI Community for coming up with this. The team usually starts off the season on a real high after pre-season and that's nice to see.

    Hope that made sense.

  28. Thanks a lot.

  30. Ok, so I have finished my first season with Swansea, and what a good one it was!

In the end I finished 5th, but that doesn't tell you the entire story. With two games to go (After beating top of the table Arsenal 4-3) I was 4 points off the top spot. I then faced City which unfortunately I lost (the only game to lose against one of the big sides) and then a 94th min equalizer in the final game saw me drop to 5th. Champions League football or even the title seemed in reach.

But this is a fantastic tactic. It works majorly well even without "stars" in your team.

So now I am in Europe and only have £12m to strengthen the side. Will be looking at a Left Winger and a better DM. Any suggestions anyone? I'll be looking at transfer listed players considering how little money I have. I hope to sign another striker too, perhaps get Bonatini back on loan.

I'll be looking at Essien too, hopefully he'll be listed for a loan/cheap deal.

Would definately recommend Belgium with the DMs and BPD's they've got, should do well with them!

Do you only use this tactic against top teams or in all games? Its probably better used all round rather than the odd game as it may be very different from your usual tactics.

I posted it on there but hasn't been accepted by a mod yet....Either they don't like it or have been too busy to put it on there! Had loads of screen shots and as much detail as on here so will be a bit annoyed if it wasn't accepted as it took me a couple of hours to format and upload screenshots to megashare! Will give it a little while then get in contact with them.

  35. Been away at my girlfriends for the last 24 hours FM'less, will post more tomorrow when i get home, interesting one on the OIs, I've thought they help a bit but if you're just doing it via AM then they could conflict with the philosophy of the tactic. Some great results on here keep up the good work!

Haha, not seen mine for two weeks so i've had plenty of FM time inbetween - the biggest thing that will stop me this year is the little thing known as Dissertation! (If only I could do an FM based one).

In other news, this has now been accepted on the SI forums so it can get some feedback on there too.

  39. So, for me, this has been the worst FM in history! Far too much micro management to succeed and most of the time I can't be arsed with it.

Have tried pretty much every tactic anyone has put up this year and have had to luck..... until now I thought I would give this tactic a go with Ross County in the SPL. They have a few decent players, but are predicted to finish bottom. Here is my League table 25 games in:

As you can see I'm doing fucking brilliant!!!

The football is beautiful as well. This is defo the best tactic for Fm13 by a long way.

One other thing I will point out is that i'm using this completely plug'n'play, that means that my AM handles team talks and match prep. I use NO OI's at all because I cant be arsed with them. Again completely PLUG N PLAY!

    Amazing!

Does he start at San Marino? Italian? I don't think he did on mine but I put no effort into his development and lots into Biordi, Gualandi & Censoni. Biordi has turned into an okay Serie C centre back but the other two never improved!

hes on loan at padova first season who are in serie b dont know how the fuck that happend and yes he italian

  43. I only used in odd games against the top teams, hence the reason it don't work as well i think.

What should we adjust if we are trying to get a goal either to draw level or to break the deadlock?

  45. Hi,

What the use of the 2 CBs settings as BPD?? Do i need to individually set them as BPD training?? Will a normal no-nonsense defender work?? And also the 2 DMs ->Training as DM better or to train them as BBM/BWM???

BPDs will help link the defence to the attack better. Only limited defenders with very poor passing / mental attributes may struggle a bit. Train your CBs as BPDs.

Personally I find it's always better to train players in the role they're to fulfill on the pitch, so train your centre backs as BPDs, your DMs as DMs etc. They aren't going to play as BWMs, BBMs etc so why train them as such? The only exception to this would be for older players - they're not going to learn new things so just train them in their preferred position (eg., I play Pirlo in my Juventus team in one of the DM positions but train him in his preferred DLP role as he is 33 and already showing signs of being past his peak).

  47. really glad to see this doing so well sean! great job! I have not tested it myself but always following it!

    congrats!

I am busy with Hannover's Slomka's counter attacking tactic at the moment!

I've brought Shawcross and he's been a beast. Not properly an example of a BPD ahah. I've set the CB's training as centre defender.
In Liverpool I set the DM's training to BBM, except Gerrard, because they've to be all-round players. Lucas, Shelvey, Henderson and Allen have very good offensive attributes. So, since they all are young and with possibility to develop, it's a bit limitative put their training as DM's, I guess..

  49. Can someone explain me the differences between AF and CF?
For example Milito is better as AF or CF?
    Thanks.
