  2. I've just seen someone say they have had a problem with this tactic using QPR? I finished 5th in the first season. Only signing was Diame as I was short of DM's. How can you struggle?

  3. It's an unbelievable tactic! First season i won the Championship with ease and the second season i finished 4th on the last day of the season beating Utd 4-2! Charlie Austin has been a beast! He's made 13 caps and scoring 10 goals for England since I've been promoted! I'm currently 2nd towards to the end of third!

So much more to football manager than just tactics, have asked them to divulge on how they deal with other aspects of the game.

  5. For anybody that's interested, here's a little World Cup spoiler. Managed to get through the group stages, but made hard work of it! Very tough 2nd round game vs an old enemy...

hope you win it if you do is that job done with san marino?

I've still got to win the league with a cantera policy from the official challenge, which I'm not far off. Though I will probably have a break from it!

Will see how this campaign goes but not looking that great from the group stages!

  8. Well I just proved myself wrong - I JUST WON THE 2022 WORLD CUP!!! Screen Shots to follow!!!

    fucking unreal well done mate

  10. Congratulations sir, you have created the most effective, rock solid, consistent tactic for FM13. I am doing great with my Sampdoria side, all thanks to you. I only have a question: There are many times where my wide mid-fielders (Weiss- Estigarribia) have an opportunity for an easy through ball, but still try to dribble. Is that a flaw of the ME or it has to do with the players' instructions?

Our most successful season in our history and my best season on any FM, ever! Won every single game bar 2 draws, one league game against Brescia where I played a few too many U19 players and against PSG when we had already easily finished top of our group stage. This was achieved using a 20 man squad that contained 14 home-grown (2)/sammarinese (10) /U18s (2) players.

    Group Stages
Arrigo Sacchi's 4-4-2: High Pressure, Attacking Tactic for Top Teams and Underdogs-world-cup_-overview-stages.png
We looked a bit shaky in the group stages, we were lucky to get a draw with Belgium and our defence was leaky against the lesser nations of El Salvador & Ghana. We got through and were drawn against current world champions Holland - I thought they would dump us out the competition this time round!

    2nd Round (3-0 Holland)

We proved my doubts wrong with an emphatic 3-0 victory over the world champs. I was feeling a lot more confident after this result! We were drawn against the greatest nation in football history - Brazil - in the quarter-finals.

Our ability to put our chances away was crucial in a big victory over a Brazil side full of great regens. Our next victims would be England.

    Semi-Final (2-0 England)

Now every great team needs a bit of luck and this is where we got it. A really open, even game and somehow we've managed to get through it as 2-0 winners, despite the game being destined for extra time & penalties from the stats! Spain beat Belgium on penalties to face us in the final. I have to admit I was pretty worried that we were going to get thrashed, they had already done over Finland 9-0 in this tournament, a side that won their next two group games and Germany to get to the quarters.

    Final (5-0 Spain)

Yes you read that right. 5-0. I'm never one for text speech but OMFG. It wasn't even a fluke either, we had 6 CCCs and Spain failed to even get a shot on target. This is my greatest victory on any FM and I don't think I will ever be able to top it.

This also has been my best ever FM save, here's a breakdown of what I have achieved in 9 seasons:

Serie C Champions & Serie C Super Cup
Serie B Champions + Italian Cup Semi Final
    Serie A 3rd Place
Serie A Champions 7 times in a row
Italian Cup 6 times in a row

Club World Champions 5 times in a row

    Euro 2020 Champions
    Confederations Cup 2021 Champions

That's 41 Trophies in total, in 9 seasons, which has taken me to the top of the Hall of Fame:

  13. Original tactic, everything exactly the same as the OP

  14. Going to try this with my PSG team. Started witha 43 million budget and in the January transfer window they gave me another 23 million. I bought Cavani and some young prospects for the future

Yes keep everything the same. Just have your more defensive options in DM, M R/L when you face tougher opposition.

Alright, thanks! Currently in a game against Schalke in the UCL, 15 minutes in and we're 3-0 up!

Edit: Final score: 5-2. Pastore scored a hatrick, Cavani scored one and Ibrahimovic scored a nice chip from just outside the box.

  19. I was at New York redbulls for three years and won everything, building up a nice reputation. I decided to move to europe and the bright lights of the premier league. I applied for a number of job but eventually chose to take on swansea. Their manager has been sacked for two seasons of finishing 17th, narrowly missing relegation. Their squad deserved more.

I wanted to build the team around this tactic as people seemed to be having success and I wanted to play two strikers. I made some strong regen signings for the future and some end of contract players like altidore. Also got podolski and javi garcia on loan. Garcia is great in the DM position.
Currently 20 games into the season and we sit 6th and one game away from a league cup final. After a media prediction of 15th

  20. I read with envy that so many people is having success with this formation.

I am probably in my 7 or 8 season with Man utd. I have a pretty strong squad. However, this formation just wouldn't work for me. I tried for about 2 months and i made my board pretty upset for all those losses. LOL

What is your team? It may not fit the tactic, or it is something else. Screenshots if you can.

    Maybe try the OIs?

  23. Anyone thinking about trying this tactic out, just download it and use it. It'll take a few games for your team to learn this tactic but once your team is fluid with this tactic it's unstoppable!

Just won 5-1 against Manchester Utd in the UCL quarter final and 5-2 against Montpellier HSC.

Well to be honest my team was thread bare, I just made it through to my 3rd season and have overhauled the squad, I did win the Coppa Italia though, so that's something, I'm going to get on it tonight and see where it takes me with a 25 man squad and good positional cover.

  25. Have to say that I first used this with my Villa team without OI and had only marginal improvements. 4 games ago I started to really focus on my opposition, identifying those players who could/should be targeted. Since then I've won away at Spurs and Man Utd plus had good results against Everton and Man City. Attention to detail has paid off!

Thanks for a great tactic and advice that has given me my enthusiasm for FM back!

  27. Congratulations on that epic world cup victory!

I just wanna stay in the same save for that long. Now I'm with Spurs (and doing great, only 1 loss in all competitions at Swansea) but it's almost certainly that I'll start a new game lol. Guess I'm a "save cheater" lol

How do you guys do to maintain that long in the same team?

Massive achievement, really well done .

One thing I haven't seen covered yet is individual training. Looking at your San Marino team, many players have pretty decent stats which must reflect individual training regimes? Do you set your players training for their individual roles, or micro manage it even further by training a specific attribute for a certain amount of time before changing to a different attribute?

I guess its just about knowing what your goals are and sticking at it till you achieve them. I was expected my San Marino game to last til 2030!

  30. Are the OI absolutely vital to success in this tactic?

  31. Quote Originally Posted by johnny1980 View Post

Some people have reported success without using OIs. However the tactic was developed to use with OIs.

If you have a coach/ass. manager with decent stats in defending and tactics, or you are confident of setting them yourself, then it is probably best to use them. Using a coach/ass.manager to set them takes like 2 seconds.

However, each team is different and you may be ok not using them. But, if you don't use them, and your results are poor, then start using them.

Yes top suggestions, I have to add that I've got one of my DMs dicatating the tempo & killer balls and the other gets forward as much as possible, I think that's a good combination.

Also my AF is lethal with his powerful shots!

I haven't given Charlie Austin a go yet but am keen to do so when I start a new file. On my Walsall file he has just moved to Stoke and this is his record so far. He is tearing shit up so far! He has just won player of the month and has just been called up to the England squad. On my other Saints file he has 10 goals in 15 England caps.

Only played two games today on my Walsall file and just go this result, incredible!! Gotta go out with the missus to go see her friend and her fella now as well. How can I leave after this? I took your advice Sean and played Fabio and Kyle Naughton as my wingers to shore it up and I got the smash n grab with my only 2 shots going in. That man Victor Andrade scoring again

Pretty much a perfect start to the season, with the team winning every game except the Community Shield. My team has much more depth now and feel like they are making up for missing out on the title last year. I got my revenge win at Cardiff too.

I have had my Assistant giving OI's out and found the best way to get the team playing well is to get tell them they are underdogs to get them relaxed and play with freedom especially against the bigger teams.

yeah that sounds reasonable for the DMs as its all about balance, if one stays behind dictating and the other bursting forward to link up with the CF that is coming deep do you have any opinion if the FBs should learn PPMs as get forward whenever possible and dribble down(flank)? you have obviously more experience with the tactic, so would you say they should be bombing down the wings or not ?

Do you think, would work this tactic for milan?

  40. sometimes, when in deciding OIs, when i click on opposition players i cant see all of their attributes, even if i scout the opposition before the game. anyone has the same ?

  41. i`m thinking of signing fierro for 3.5m and will hughes for 7m as he can play a few positions but i might retrain him to complete forward what do you think

I have trained one of my Full backs to dribble with the ball and the other to knock it past their opponent. They both had their best season getting 30+ assists between them!

Fierro at 3.5m is a bargain, Barca (42mil) bought him from Lille (16mil) on mine and he get's 20+ goals a season! Hughes I think would be class in either wing position, not so much CF for me as he isn't as physical as I like my CFs to be.

  44. @pollackattack, maybe that's because you started the game with the option "hide the players attributes" or something like this. It's when you choose your playable leagues, guess it's on the second part before starting a new game.
You can "counter" that by putting one of your scouts to give you a report about the next opposite team. Maybe the one with best tactical knowledge.
Try it, it's just a tip

EDIT: oooops. didn't read all from your post. sorry lol. maybe it's due to the first part of what I've write.. :s

no i never tick that on. i can see most players, say 95%. but some are either completely or partly invisible when it comes to attributes

  46. Just did my first Serie A game against Parma, my squad as been completely rebuilt, got quite a few young players now that should bode well for the future.

Lost 2-1, but what got me going was that I hit the woodwork five times , Lascala should of raped them.

My squad for the season, not sure where I can improve now for the time being.
