Batigol - The Gabriel Batistuta Story

  1. Batigol - The Gabriel Batistuta Story

Gabriel Batistuta to come out of the wilderness!!

Batigol - The Gabriel Batistuta Story-185px-gabriel_batistuta.jpg

    In a shock statement Gabriel Batistuta has vowed to come out of the wilderness, after earned his FIFA coaching badges, the prolific Argentinian striker is on the lookout for his first step into management. He met with our reporter today;

REPORTER; Hi Gabriel, thank you for taking the time out and give us an exclusive interview. Why have you left it so long to look into management?
GABRIEL; I felt that after giving my everything during my playing days i had lost a little love for the game, i have spent the past 10 years spending time with the family. In the past 10 years the way that football is played has changed so much. I had decided to go into management 3 years ago, but before i made the step to be a manager i wanted to learn so much more than i already know.

REPORTER; What made you change your mind?
GABRIEL; There wasn't a trigger, i just fell back in love with football. I miss the buzz on a match day, the excitement prior to kick-off. The feeling of winning for the fans. Hearing the fans chant your name on a weekly basis.

REPORTER; What can we expect from your teams?
GABRIEL; To win, i will not be happy until we are a team full of winners. We need that winning mentality, we need to be feared by the rest of the league. I could say that we will play this way or that way. But until i get a position i won't be able to tell you until i evaluate my player.

REPORTER; One last question, where are looking to manage, can we finally get to see Batigol in England?
GABRIEL; I want to manage in Europe, whether that is in Italy, Germany, France or England. One trophy i have always aspired to win was the champions league. I know it won;t be that easy to start with i have to prove to people that firstly i am now a manager and not a footballer! And secondly i need to prove to them that my love for the game is back, and i plan on using my passion to win to achieve great things!

  2. Can Batistuta persuade someone to give him a chance??

These past few months have given Gabriel Batistuta an idea on how brutal the manager market is. At the beginning of the season he applied for the Palermo and Valenciennes job, only to get laughed off on both occasions. Will someone give him the chance he needs?

After a couple more months looking for the right job, Aidy Boothroyd got sacked from Northampton Town at the beginning of October. Gabriel wanted to seize the chance to get into management and applied for the job straight away, he had to prove himself somewhere! The following day Gabriel got a call to attend an interview. Gabriel had prepared as much as he could, but this was his first interview. Things seemed to go okay until they asked if eh had any requests. Gabriel is a firm believer of finding hiddens gems in South America so wanted the scouting network upgraded. This was too far for Northampton Town and they promptly hired someone else.

2 more interviews followed in the following weeks. Firstly at Scunthorpe United where Brian Laws was sacked after a poor start, everything went well and Gabriel was offered the job. However he chose to delay this for a week. He wanted to see how his second interview went.

The delay was the right decision, as he was soon offered the job he was hoping for when the manager got sacked. This is where the story starts. Finally a chance for Gabriel to prove himself. His first steps into management start here. Stay tuned for more!

  3. I am doing this story inspired by the Raul one this year and last year. I am going to be Gabriel Batistuta (don't ask what made me pick him lol) and hopefully one day get my hands on the champions league. I'm not going to be dedicated to one team and once i have the champions league could turn into a journey man story (depending if i don't find the perfect team for Batistuta!) What are people's thoughts on this?

  4. batistuta is my all-time favorite player!

After months of searching for a job, Gabriel Batistuta has been hired as A.J Auxerre manager. The french team are languishing bottom of Ligue 2, can Batistuta inject a new lease of life in the team?

Reporter; You sit here as the new A.J Auxerre manager. What are you thoughts?
Gabriel; I have great pride sitting here, and can't thank the board enough for giving me the job at this prestigious club. I want to put Auxerre back on the map and end this torment for the fans.

Reporter; What are your expectations for the current year?
Gabriel; First and foremost we need to get out of the relegation zone, that is a must. After that we will take it as it comes for the coming season. We don't need to burden the players with the huge expectations this club has. We need to get the morale back around camp, and insert the winning mentatility which the players have lost along the way.

Reporter; What are your thoughts on the current playing staff?
Gabriel; Until i sit down with the players and see them in training i can't really comment, but i will be looking at the leaders to step forward and lead by example. That is all for now.

So there we have it. Gabriel Batistuta has been hired as the new manager of A.J Auxerre, can he be the man to take this team back to where it belongs?
    Stay Tune for more.

*Any Feedbacks and comments are welcome!*

  6. November 2013

Batistuta is off to a flyer in his first managerial role
    Finances are looking dire

    Advance in the cup

    Ligue 2 - 9th November 2013

    Clermont Foot 1 - 2 Auxerre
    Habibou, Regattin
    MOM: Ait Ben Idir (Auxerre)

My first game in charge ends in victory, we was made to work hard for this with Clermont Foot getting the first goal just before half time. But the lads responded superbly with Habib Habibou getting the equalizing goal on the hour mark, and Regattin getting the winner 10 minutes before time was up.

    French Cup 7th Round - 17th November 2013

    AS Dragons 0 - 6 Auxerre
Marister, Ebanega, Bela x 3, Haller
    MOM: Bela (Auxerre)

Wow!! where do i start. I chose to have a look at the other players we have at our disposal and they certainly made a claim to be playing every week. Taking every opportunity they had. Jeremie Bela ran the show from the RW and has certainly opened my eyes to what he can do. Progress is made to the next round.

    Ligue 2 - Saturday 22 November 2013

    Auxerre 2 - 1 Stade Malherbe Caen
    Viale, Habibou
    MOM: Habibou

Another brilliant win from the boys, for the second league match in a row we was 1-0 down at half time, but responded superbly through Julien Viale and Habib Habibou.

    Player of the Month

Habib Habibou - His importance of his goals this month has won him this award, things are finally looking up for Auxerre!

    Monthly Review

A perfect first month in management for Gabriel Batistuta, but he has just found out how tough this is going to be. Looking at the finances Auxerre are making approximately ?1M loss per month and are overspending on wages, with this in mind he is going to have to have a long hard look at the players over December to help him cut down his wage budget in the January transfer window.

PS I will have no screenshots for this until February update, i forgot to take them and have a surprise or two to unveil!!

  7. December 2013

    Advance in the cup
    Re-inforcements needed!
    True colours start to show

    Ligue 2 - 2nd December 2013

    FC Metz 0 - 0 Auxerre
    Habibou, Regattin
    MOM: Bussman (FC Metz)

A Solid point against the table toppers, and my first clean sheet in the league, would have like to have seen more shots on target. With us only achieving a 33% shot on target ratio. However i am happy with the lads for a hard fought point

    French Cup 8th Round - 7th December 2013

    SO Chatellerault 0 - 5 Auxerre
    Ngando x 3, Bela, OG
    MOM: Ngando (Auxerre)

Another demolition in the cup, this time our CM Ngando being the star of the show with a 1st half hat-

    Ligue 2 - 13th December 2013

    Auxerre 1 - 3 Chamois Niortais FC
    MOM: Mayi (Chamois Niortais)

We was never in this match with the visitors outplaying us. Our defence was at hand for some poor errors and i expected more from club captain Coulibaly. I'm hoping that this was just a one-off and not going to be a recurring theme!

    Ligue 2 - 20th December 2013

    Havre Athletic Club 5 - 2 Auxerre
    Regattin, Boly
    MOM: Fanchone (Havre)

Well I don't know what to say here, we was statistically the better team, apart from what really counts. Everything they touched seem to go in. I had dropped Couilbaly for this match and i have to say he was missed with youngster Ndong being foul to some sloppy defending!

    Player of the Month

Axel Ngando - The youngster came into his own this month with a world class hat-trick in the cup.

    Monthly Review

Things started so well this month with a draw against top of the table and advancing in the cup. But then the floodgates opened with us conceded 8 goals in 2 games. The defence looked amateur at best in theses matches and it is something which needs addressing urgently! Re-inforcements are needed in January, but i will be operated a one in one out policy. Firstly i need a CM with Ngando and Ben Idir being the only players who are comfortable in that position. I also need a leader in defence.

  8. Best thing is to show the League table after every update so we know where you are in the league and can compare month to month and see how your doing.

  9. Doing well mate, really like the layout too. Keep it up.

I know i made the mistake of not doing screenshots for the months needed, currently in February so will be able to do them from Feb onwards. Thanks for reading

Cheers for reading, got a surprise coming up in Feb!

  12. January 2014

    Bad Form
    French Legend joins?

4th January 2014 - IN Simone Bentivoglio (LOAN) - Simone has come in for competition for the CM positions. I am hoping he is going to play a big part in climbing up the table
    4th January 2014 -
OUT Adrien Regattin (TERMINATION OF LOAN) - I needed to free up some wages to enable me to bring in Bentivoglio, and with us paying ?8K per week for Regattin who plays RW (we have plenty of options in that Position i feel that this was the right move for the club
14th January 2014 - OUT Olivier Sorin (FREE TRANSFER) - Olivier had fallen to be my 3rd choice keeper, but was also one of the highest earners at the club, i needed to make a decision to cut my wage budget and unfortunately i didn't see a future at the club
    14th January 2014 -
OUT Julien Viale (FREE TRANSFER) - Much like Sorin, Viale was a high earner at the club and i didn't feel like he justified his wage so we went our separate ways
    31st January 2014 -
IN WILLIAM GALLAS (FREE TRANSFER) - Finally i have what i call a leader, Gallas has played at the top level for numerous years and i feel that his experience is vital in the defence. I wasted no time in appointing Gallas a AJ Auxerre new club captain which didn't go down so with Adama Coulibaly (who was stripped of the captaincy to make way for Gallas)
    31st January 2014 -
OUT Adama Coulibaly (LOAN GENK) - After our row about the captaincy Coulibaly made it clear to me that he wanted no more to do with AJ Auxerre while i remained at the helm, and was quickly shipped out on loan to Belgium side GENK
    31st January 2014 -
IN Peguy Luyindula (FREE TRANSFER) - This is a straight replacement for Julien Viale but for a fraction of the wage. I don't see Luyindula setting the division alight and has joined as 3rd choice striker

    French Cup 9th Round - 5th January 2014

    Luzenac Ariege Pyrenees 0 - 4 Auxerre
    Monconduit, Couliably, Ben Idir, Ngando
    MOM: Coulibaly

Another solid showing in the cup, i have now overseen 3 games in the French cup. Scoring 15 goals and conceding 0. The defence was phenominal in this match with 2 of my back 4 getting a goal. Onto the 10th round where we will face league rivals ESTAC Troyes.

    Ligue 2 - 10th January 2014

    Auxerre 1 - 0 AC Arles-Avignon
    MOM: Coulibaly

We followed up our comprehisve cup win with our 1st win in 4 games in the league. And it was badly needed. That man again Habibou scoring showing he can hold the burden of being the main striker. Lets hope we can put a little run together now start climbing the table a little.

    Ligue 2 - 18th January 2014

    Nimes Olympique 1 - 1 Auxerre
    MOM: Bentivoglio

A solid away performance where we can count ourselves unlucky not to take all 3 points. Bentivoglio scoring on his league debut, i am now hoping he can provide competition in CM. If we can keep picking up the points away from home and winning our home matches we will climb up the table in no time.

    French Cup 10th Round - 21st January 2014
    Troyes 4 - 0 Auxerre

    MOM: Lassad (Troyes)

We just didn't want to shoot in the match. We had 62% of the possession, but was on the receiving end of a whooping. The leaves us crashing out of the cup. We had at least met the minimum requirements i had set the lads of the 9th round, and this will leave us to be able to concentrate on getting some points on the board.

    Ligue 2 - 24th January 2014
Auxerre 1 - 2 Racing Club de Lens
    MOM: Nomenjanahary (Lens)

Another back-to-bac defeat. This one was a bitter bill to swallow. We was losing until the 82nd minute when Bela struck home a well deserved penalty. Only to bit hit with the sucker punch in the 88th minute. I feel we could have won this game, but their winner came just at the right time for them. We need to dust ourselves down quick and sort this situation out

    Ligue 2 - 31st January 2013
    La Berrichonne 3 - 1 Auxerre
    MOM: Semence (Barrichonne)

Well this was a debut to forget for new club captain William Gallas, we him scoring an own goal in the 8th minute and going off injured late in the second half. 3rd loss in a row no and things are no longer looking rosy as it was for the first month in charge.

    Player of the Month

Simone Bentivoglio - Since arriving from Chievo on loan Simone has put in solid performances in the middle of the park and has been the only stand out player in the team

    Monthly Review

Another bad month at AJ Auxerre, the 3 back-to-back defeats at the end of the month has really knocked the guys confidence and need to get back to winning ways quickly. I am pleased with the transfers i have managed, especially Willam Gallas. I would have like to have seen him partner Coulibaly, but i will not be held ransom by any player who thinks he is bigger than the football club. Hopefully without the distraction of the French Cup we can get some consistency going now.

  13. February 2014

    Ligue 2 - 7th February 2014

    Auxerre 1 - 2 FC Istres OP
    MOM: Leroy (Istres)

Things got off to a flying start in this match, with Bela opening the scoring within the 1st minute, however Istres soon got the equaliser and then ran out deserved winners. The team just don't seem to have any ideas going forward and run into dead ends. We start the month just as bad as we ended January!

    Ligue 2 - 14th Febuary 2014
    Stade Brestios 29 0 - 1 Auxerre
    MOM: Ngando

Finally back to winning aways, and what a way to grind out a result against a team that is flying high in the division. It is also our first clean sheet in over a month. The gamble to bring in Gallas seems to finally be paying off!

It is rumoured that AJ Auxerre have relieved Gabriel Batistuta of his duties with immediate effect. The reason at the moment in time is not clear, but it is led to believe with the lack of consistency, with AJ Auxerre winning only 3 in the past 10 games. Also the public fallout with ex Auxerre captian Adama Coulibaly had only made the boards decision easier. Stay tuned for more as we will look to update you as soon as we can.

  14. Gabriel Batistuta releases statement

    Following on from the new breaking news yesterday, we can confirm that Gabriel Batistuta is no longer AJ Auxerre after only a mere 4 months in the job. Here is what Gabriel had to say through his personal website;

"I would like to place on record my gratitude toward the AJ Auxerre fans for the tremendous support they have given me during my time in charge of this wonderful football club. I am really disappointed and upset that my time in charge of the club this way, and would like to explain why this action has been taken. As you are aware results recently hasn't gone as we had planned, but I had the up-most confidence in the lads that we could turn it around. As the fans could see we was starting to really play good football and the team had started to play the way i had envisioned. Unfortunately the board didn't see things that way, and instead of playing a possession based tactic they wanted me to change my 4 months of hard work on the training ground to play a defensive and direct brand of football. This isn't my philosophy and i don't want my teams to play that way, it is not who i am.

The situation which arose with Adama Coulibaly also didn't have a good effect on the board. They thought that i was being dictator instead of manager, but since when was it acceptable for a single player to lay down the rules? This is in fact a team game and I will not tolerate that sort of behavior.

As you can tell this whole episode has left a bitter taste in my mouth. But one day, i hope to return to this great club and finish off the task that i have started. Not for my sake, but the wonderful fans. Maybe not in the next 5 years but later on, things need to change in the boardroom before i could even consider returning.

I would also like to place on record the speculation regarding the AS Monaco FC job. I have heard rumors that the reason i got sacked was because i had applied for the AS Monaco job. I did have a discussion with the chairman about this and i had informed him that if AS Monaco approached me i would like to attend the interview, but i was not going to announce in public or even to AS Monaco that i would like the job. The chairman understood this, and has no reason whatsoever to do with my unfortunate dismissal.

    AS Monaco FC have also released the following statement;

"We can confirm that we have held discussion with Gabriel Batistuta. He is one of the three people we have narrowed our search down to. We are hoping to make an announcement in the next week with regards to the appointment of a new manager"

It is understood that the other people in the running for the job are ex-Chile boss Marcelo Biesla and current Valenciennes manager Co Adriaanse. We will keep you updated as we find out more.

Where do you think Gabriel Batistuta will end up next? Is he going to stick in France to settle the score, or will he head abroad. Have your say here.

  15. AS Monaco appoint Valenciennes manager Co Adriaanse

In another twist in the tale, AS Monaco have hired Co Adriaanse as the man to take the reins. What next for Gabriel Batistuta? Will he find another job in France or will he have to start afresh elsewhere??

  16. Valenciennes FC turn to Gabriel Batistuta

In a shocking turn of events Valenciennes have hired Gabriel Batistuta as their new manager. They had initially rebuffed his approach back in the summer, but where quick to appoint the former Argentinian striker as the man to take the reins.

I a quick statement on the official website Batigol had this to say; "I am delighted to be trusted with this position. My aim is simple and that is to play the best we can week in week out. It will be a struggle initially with the money the top teams in this league have at their disposable. But we will show them that no matter how much money they can splash, if they do not have the courage, determination and attitude to win they will fail.

  18. Really nice story, mate. Keep up the good work!

  19. March 2014

    Squad evaluation
    Win on debut
    French Cup Quarter Final

    Ligue 2 - Sunday 9th March 2014

    Valenciennes 2 - 1 Stade Rennais
    Dossevi x 2
    MOM: Dossevi

Another solid showing in the cup, i have now overseen 3 games in the French cup. Scoring 15 goals and conceding 0. The defence was phenominal in this match with 2 of my back 4 getting a goal. Onto the 10th round where we will face league rivals ESTAC Troyes.

    Ligue 2 - Saturday 15th March 2014

    Evian TG FC 2 - 1 Valenciennes
    MOM: Barbosa (Evian)

An unlucky result with both teams evenly matched. Evian are now up to 3rd in the league so no shame in losing the game. Was disappointed with the defending of corners, with both of Evians coming courtesy of a corner.

    Ligue 2 - Saturday 22nd March 2014

    Valenciennes 1 - 0 AC Ajaccio
    Le Tallec

    MOM: Dossevi

A brilliant match of football, and i am suprised the score was only 1-0. There was over 40 shots at goal between both teams. But it was that man again Dossevi who made a real difference.

French Cup Quarter Final - Wednesday 26th March 2014
    Valenciennes 0 - 5 Evian TG FC
    MOM: Tavares (Evian)

What an embarrassing display in front of our fans. Not happy at all with the commitment by the team. Once again corners undid us against Evian, with them scoring from 3 of them. We need to work hard at defending set pieces, otherwise some of these goals that we are conceding will be costly.

    Ligue 2 - Saturday 29th March 2014
    Montpellier HSC 3 - 3 Valenciennes
    Klemenz, Nguette, Melikson
    MOM: Montano (Montpellier)

Another poor defensive display from the team. However i have to give credit where it is due, and the commitment and work rate to ensure we ended with 3 points was outstanding. We was 3-1 down with 5 minutes to go, so this point feels more like a win! It is also good seeing both Klemenz and Nguette on the scoresheet. These two players are going to play a pivotal role next year with them coming on leaps and bounds.

    Player of the Month

Mathieu Dossevi - Since i have arrived to this club it is clear to see that Mathieu Dossevi is a key player. He has been consistent this month with both assists and goals.

    Monthly Review

My first month in charge has come to an end. All in all i think it has been an ok month, the boys are still learning how i want to play football and are responding with some good results. The performances of our youngster Klemenz and Nguette has been brilliant, and they are embracing the run in the team i have given them. Kick on to next month now where hopefully we can build on these results.

Still 14th in the league and 10 points above the relegation zone. I will be hoping to avoid the drop next month so we can relax in the last few games and i can have a look at all of the players at my disposal before the summer transfer window opens again.

  20. April 2014

    Awful month!
    Relegation Scrap?
Decisions to be made on expring contracts

    Ligue 2 - Sunday 6th April 2014

    Valenciennes 1 - 1 Olympique Lyonnais
    MOM: Kone (Lyon)

A good point against a team battling it out near the top of the table. Bad news however as Rose & Bahebeck get injured. We need these players for this month!

    Ligue 2 - Friday 11th April 2014

    LOSC 2 - 1 Valenciennes
    MOM: Martin (Lille)

Another tough fixture, we had spells of good football against Lille, which is a pleasing sign for next year. On another note another injury, this time Melikson limping off in the second half.

    Ligue 2 - Sunday 20th April 2014

    Valenciennes 2 - 2 FC Nantes
    Le Tallec, Nguette

    MOM: Nicolita (Nantes)

A poor performance against bottom of the league. We was outplayed in all areas of the field and we are now getting dragged into the relegation battle. Next win is a must against 18th place Guingamp. If we lose this there will only be 2 point seperated us from the relegation zone with 3 games to play in May!

    Ligue 2 - Saturday 26th April 2014
En Avant de Guingamp 4 - 2 Valenciennes
    Angoua, Nguette
    MOM: Yatabare (Guingamp)

Where to start with this match?? We raced into a 2-0 lead after only 19 minutes and was thinking this was a cruise in the park already. How wrong was i, with Mustapha Yatabare in inspirational form to save his team for the drop. Need to pick up some points and fast! Also in this match saw another 2 injuries 1st to Mathieu Dossevi, then shortly followed Bahebeck. The squad is getting stretched now!

    Player of the Month

Opa Nguette - The youngster has been the only saving grace in what was a very frustrating month. He has a huge future and i hope i can help him reach his pot

    Monthly Review

An absolutely awful month. We have failed to win any of our four games, and are now well and truly in the relegation scrap. With 3 left against Bordeaux, Monaco and Toulouse things are looking bleak.
Opa Nguette deserves a special mention, i thrust him into the starting 11 this month and he is reaping the benefits. I hope he can go from strength to strength.

In other news, i had looked into the players who are out of contracts in the summer, and i feel that a squad overhaul is needed. I have so far agreed not to offer the following new contracts. We are alreadt ?30k per week over the budget so this needs slashing straight away.
    • Gregory Pujol - ?11,750 per week (34 years old)
    • Rudy Mater - ?9,750 per week (34 years old)
    • David Ducourtioux - ?5,750 per week (36 years old)
    • Jose Saez - ?3,900 per week (32 years old)
I feel that all of the above are asking for too much money, and i could use the wages to bring in young replacements. I could hopefully tie a couple of them up for a further year at a reduced wage as 3 of the players mentioned are first team regulars!

Still 14th in the league, however now we are only 3 points above the drop zone with 3 very trick ties coming up in May. Can we save the team and spend anther season in the top flight?

  21. May 2014

    End of Season
    Safe or not??

    Ligue 2 - Sunday 4th May 2014

    Valenciennes 2 - 0
    Girondins Bordeaux
    Le Tallec, Ahlinvi
    MOM: Kagelmacher

What a result! We win at home with a clean sheet. Fantastic performance, and good to see Ahlinvi score. Not been playing this season but due to all the injuries was on the bench. Coudl next year be his breakthrough season? We now only need 1 point in our next 2 matches to secure our top status.

    Ligue 2 - Saturday 10th May 2013

    Valenciennes 2 -5 AS Monaco FC 5
    Melikson, Saez
    MOM: Ocompos (Monaco)

The 5-2 scoreline doesn't show the true reflection no this match. Yes at the end of the game only one things matters and that is the score. But we put in a really good shift, and if it wasn't for the skill of Ocompos, then i could be sat here with the 3 points easily instead of 0. In other news Kagelmacher was injured today and has been sent back to his parent club (which so happens to be AS Monaco FC!). We also secured our top flight status this weekend!!!

    Ligue 2 - Saturday 17th May 2014

    Toulouse FC 2 - 4 Valenciennes
    Le Tallec x 3, Pujol

    MOM: Le Tallec

What a brilliant way to end the season. Le Tallec was in inspirational form. And could that be Pujol's last contribution in a Valenciennes shirt?

    Player of the Month

Anthony Le Tallec - The one time Liverpool player has been in brilliant form this month. Scoring 4 goals in 3 games to help battle relegation!

    Monthly Review

A brilliant month against 3 very tough opposition. I hope this is a sign of things to come next year, and i am looking forward to my first pre-season as manager. So after this months heroics lets look at the table!

There we have it, we finished in 14th! a position we have held ever since i took from manager. Next year we are looking to better that and hopefully we will be able to achieve it!

  22. It would be good if you went to one of the Welsh clubs, Cardiff/Swansea/Newport/Wrexham as Batistua is from Patagonia which is a Welsh speaking community in Argentina, plus Batistua speaks Welsh

  23. End of Season Review

There we have it, my first year experienced as a football manager, and what a year it has been. Firstly i was appointed as Auxerre manager only to be sacked months later. Then Valenciennes took a gamble on me and i have finished a respectable 14th position. I feel this is something that we can improve on next year if i can get my hand on a couple of decent signings to help improve.

14th place is a very good position, and something which hopefully can lead for me to build on. FC Lorient and Evian both had brilliant years pipping free spending Monace to the Euro Cup spots. While on the other end Marseille had a disappointing year finishing 1 point above us in 13th, but seal a Euro Cup spot thanks to their triumph in the cup.

ITALY - Juventus where the runaway leaders in the league. It was good to see both of my ex clubs doing so well in 2nd and 3rd. While it was despair for Parma who finished bottom of the league. Special congratulations though are in order for Genoa who finished in 4th spot!

SPAIN - Real Madrid won the league against fierce rivals Atletico who finished above Barcelona in second. No real shocks in that division

GERMANY - FC Bayern retained the title, finishing 1 point above Dortmund. While Werder Bremen was relegated from the Bundesliga

  24. Transfers/Pre-Season

13/06/2014 -IN Anthony Knockaert (?5M) - This is the big transfer of the window. We felt that Anthony has a lot to offer in the attacking midfield positions, and will hopefully hold the key on how to turn defence into attack. Spent a record breaking ?5M on him.
    18/06/2014 -
IN Danny Hoesen (Ln Fee ?64K p/m) - Danny is another attacking option i have gone for, and will hopefully bring alot of competition in the squad. A brilliant player, who was unfortunately only available on a loan
30/06/2014 - OUT Gregory Pujol & David Ducourtioux (FREE TRANSFER) - Two players who i was very sad to see leave, but i could not justify giving them a wage when i could strengthen other areas in the team (A Total of 23 players left at the end of their contract as the re-shuffling starts to begin)
    - IN Izunna Uzochukwu (FREE TRANSFER) - A no nonsense central midfielder. Picked him up for free. I am excited for seeing him in action and think he has huge potential which i am hoping to help with!
    01/07/2014 -
IN Davy Propper (FREE TRANSFER) - Another central midfielder, however i felt that we was lacking in that department. Will add extra competition to the places and someone i am looking forward to seeing in a Valenciennes shirt
    07/07/2014 -
OUT Kenny Lala (?195K) - Kenny was surplus to requirements, and i would have let him go on a free, but nice to pick up some much needed transfer funds!
    06/08/2014 -
IN DJIBRIL CISSE (FREE TRANSFER) - I have to say i am quite please that we have managed to bring someone of Djibril's quality in. He has lost his way over the last few years, but he still has a lot to offer and i am hoping that he can achieve that here.

The remainder of the transfer are all loan deals as seen below

Wow, what an amazing pre-season. Winning all games, with the highlight being the 3-2 win against Galatasaray. Lets hope the season starts the same way as pre-season.

What do people think of my chances this year?

Have i made good signings, or is there still something lacking?
