Evening all! The aim of this save is to return Liverpool FC to it's glory days of the 1980s, winning trophies regularly. I'm also aiming to achieve this mainly through using players developed by the clubs youth system (note: not purely English players, and this is not a requirement for me)
Below is a roundup of each season's accomplishments, along with Player of the Year, Top Scorer and Most Assists for each season Hope y'all enjoy it, and ofcourse, any feedback is welcome

  2. Pre-Season/Transfers 2013

Overall, the squad didn't need much work, and so I made an effort to secure young players who will be useful in the future. Begovic was the only player we spend significant amounts of cash on, as a rotation option with Mingolet

    Transfers In
    Name From Price
    Asmir Begovic Stoke 10m
    Alberto Cerri Parma 825k
    Daniele Rugani Empoli 950k
    Mario Pugilese Atalanta 650k
    Vajebah Sakor Juventus 1m
    Sergi Samper Barcelona 1.2m
    Abdelahk Nouri Ajax 750k
    Total
    15.31m

In terms of outgoing transfers, my concern here was to get young players out on Loan, although players like Cerri and Rugani who were both popular, are staying at the club to benefit from our facilities and occasional game time in cup ties etc.
    Transfers Out
    Name To Price
    John Flanagan Millwal Loan (Season)
    Andre Wisdom Leeds Loan (Season)
Samed Yesil Sheffield Wednesday Loan (Season)
Adam Morgan Leyton Orient Loan (3 Months)
Craig Roddan Dag & Red Loan (3 Months)
    Tiago Illori Derby Loan (Season)
Ryan McLaughlin Leyton Orient Loan (3 Months)

Our pre-season results were pleasing, as we were competitive with some good teams, and won a 'trophy'

Especially pleasing was the way Sterling played, as he is playing slightly out of position while he re-trains, but he still had a good impact, and i'm now less concerned about the loss of Suarez for the first few weeks of the season.

  3. August 2014

Overall, August was a disappointing month, as we went crashing out of the Capital One Cup, and turned in some poor performances.

A promising month for the defender, despite leaking goals in defence; Agger has taken to his Ball Playing Defender role, building our attacks from the back where possible.

Overall, a poor month, although some promising signs with Coutinho and Agger contributing well. I've done some tactical tinkering, and hope it pays off.

  4. September 2014

Another mixed month, although a positive for me is how many chances we're managing to create, and how many goals we are scoring. Also, the return of Suarez, who came on a sub against Sunderland, is hopefully a major turning point in our season. I'm still tweaking tactically to try to find a way to shore up the defence, and Indeed, Begovic is likely to find himself sitting the next couple out!

  5. Signing: Mattia Destro

    Liverpool Announce January Signing

Liverpool have today announced that they have agreed a deal to sign AS Roma's Mattia Destro in January. Many fans have expressed their optimism that Destro will provide the foil for Suarez and Sturridge up front for Liverpool.

At a press conference in Rome, Destro expressed his determination to do well at Liverpool, and stated his ambition to take the club into Europe.

"Liverpool are a great club, and I'm eager to help the club return to it's former glory, and look forward to working with the talent at the club."

  6. October 2014

Yet again, a poor month, although the tactical changes I made before the Hull game seem to have had an effect; we threw away the Swansea game after having Sahko sent off

  9. December 2013

We're still very hit and miss, although our performances are improving despite the inconsistency. There are some rumours circulating about my future, understandably, and also of clubs floating around to take players such as Lucas and Sakho off my hands, which i'm hoping will come to nothing.

  14. Youth Intake 2014

So we come to my favourite day of the season: Youth Intake day. This year, I managed to steal a number of gems out from under the noses of their clubs, securing them on long-term deals, which I was happy with...here's a rundown of my favourites

  22. New Signing: Sebastian Druissi

Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-liverpool.png

Druissi Joins Liverpool in ?1.62m Deal

Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-sebastian-druissi.jpg
Liverpool have today announced the signing of River's 18 year old Striker Sebastian Druissi for a compensation fee of just over ?1.6m.
Druissi started his career at River in 2012, and has gone on to make 17 first team appearances for them, scoring 2 goals, alongside 5 U20 appearances for Argentina, scoring 2 goals.
Liverpool fans are said to be excited by this signing, who joins a range of exciting young prospects at the club, especially after Luis Suarez rocked the club by handing in a transfer request after the club failed to secure Champions League football...Can Druissi fill that gap? Or is that too much too soon?

  23. New Signing: Davide Santon

    Liverpool Announce New Signing

Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-davide-santon.jpg
Davide Santon: 12.75m from Bayern Munich
Liverpool have today confirmed the transfer of Italian left-back Davide Santon from German side FC Bayern
for a fee of 12.75 million.
Santon started his career Ravenna in 2002, and moved to Inter in 2005, but did not make a first-team appearance until 2008, where he played a partial role, making 16 appearances. Santon continued to make sporadic appearances, until his 5.25 million move to Newcastle in 2011.
During his time at St James' Park, Santon made 51 appearances, scoring one goal, before moving to Bayern for 11 Million. However, many have stated that was the wrong move, as he only managed 6 appearances last season, before Liverpool came in for him this season.

Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-davide-santon.jpg
Having made 18 international appearances so far, 23 year old Santon is said to view this move as the perfect kickstart for his career both at club and international level.

    Transfers Out (Permanent)

A number of players left on free transfers this year; they were surplus to requirements and we needed to get them off the wage bill. The more notable departures were:

    Oussama Assaidi - Stoke - 3.9m
Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-luis-suarez.jpg
    Luis Suarez - FC Bayern - 23.5m
Not a transfer i'd wanted to make: Luis handed in a transfer request after we failed to make Champions League football last season, so he's off to Bayern to kick ass there instead

A number of youth players were also loaned out to gain first team experience.

Next Update will be pre-season...as always, any feedback is welcomed

  27. Gerrard to Move Into Coaching

Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-steven-gerrard.jpg
Word from Anfield today is that club captain Steven Gerrard is looking to move into a coaching role with the club, as players such as Lucas and Henderson find themselves playing ahead of him increasingly often.
Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-gerrard-steven-.jpg
During a playing career spanning 19 years, Steven Gerrard has never played anywhere other than Liverpool, making 474 appearances, and scoring 107 goals for the club. During his playing career, Gerrard has won 11 trophies, including the Champions League trophy in 2005. When asked about his new role, Gerrard was forthcoming in his reply.

"It's a really good opportunity for me to further my career. There are players coming through now who are more capable over 90 minutes than I am, and that's plain to see. I'm 34 now, and football is a physically intensive game, especially the way we play. Moving into coaching is the way I want to go, as i've spent the last 4 or 5 years tutoring the youngsters coming through the ranks, and i'd love nothing more than to help this club improve and continue it's tradition of developing youth."

Loosing both Suarez and Gerrard in one window. That has got to hurt!
Gerrard is 35 in my save and he's still going strong fro me.

  33. I'm keeping him around for now; he just signed a new deal so won't let me renegotiate...i'll probably give him a player/coach contract so I can still use him for tutoring

The thing i'm most surprised about is how good Reina's been since his return: i've had to transfer list Mingolet, because Begovic and Reina are solid between them!

Ah okay, I thought you meant he retired.

I sold on Reina myself since his wages don't justify his ability in my opinion. Still, if you're getting good form out of him, that's worth any price.

I really wasn't expecting it hahah, Begovic broke something early in the season and Mingolet was in a strop about something so I played him and i've never really looked back...

  37. January 2015 - Transfer Window

I was aiming for a quiet transfer window, as the squad only really needed a couple of players for depth while the youngsters developed.

    Transfers In

Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-ocampos-lucas.jpg
Lucas Ocampos - AS Monaco - 12.75m + Simon Mingolet
Lucas Ocampos started his career at River Plate in 2010, breaking into the first team in 2011 and going on to make 39 appearances, scoring 7 goals for the club. He moved to Monaco in 2012, commanding a transfer fee if 9m. During his time at Monaco, he made 48 appearances, scoring 9 times. He has also had a loan spell at Atletico, where he made 27 appearances, scoring 6 goals.

  39. Febuary 2015

Our Dissapointing run continued this month...i'm not sure what's gone wrong, as my tactics havent changed at all, apart from removing 'get stuck in' as an instruction, as we were giving away careless fouls and picking up a ton of cards.

Essentially, this month was an unmitigated disaster. Despite winning at home, we still couldn't do enough to see ourselves progress in Europe, and we run a serious risk of not playing in Europe next season if our league performances dont improve.

  43. May 2015

May arrived, and with it came an interesting race for European football Liverpool, despite being in 8th place, are only 1 point behind 4th placed Man City, with two games remaining in the season.

    Game One: Southampton 0-1 Liverpool
    Lucas Ocampos (79)

On balance, this was a very even game, up until Ocampos unlocked the Southampton defence and rifled a shot high into the roof of the net...However, this game made no difference to Liverpools league position, and they head into the final game still in 8th place, still 1 point away from qualification spots...

    West Brom - Liverpool
Liverpool went into this game knowing that they had to win to stand any chance at all of European Qualification, as 4 other teams also had their eye on 4th spot, and all played today.

    Man City v Man Utd
A real six pointer here in the race for Europe...a draw by far the ideal result in this game
    Tottenham v Stoke
Spurs know a victory here will crown them champions; I'm hoping they don't let that slip!
    Aston Villa v Everton
This game makes Everton seem most likely to steal our place in Europe, but Villa can be tricky customers.
    - - -
We got off to a poor start when Shane Long fired West Brom ahead on 24 minutes, but we hit back, Martin Kelly hitting the back of the net with a bullet header on 35 to bring us back level, before Joe Allen showed composure to score from 10 yards in a crowded penalty area!
Right on the stroke of half-time, Boaz Myhill gifted us our 3rd, turning the ball into his own net after a Coutinho corner cause chaos.
    - - -
Half Time: West Brom 1-3 Liverpool

At this point, other scores were important
    Man City 0-0 Man Utd

    Tottenham 1-0 Stoke

    Aston Villa 0-0 Everton

As things stood, we were in 4th Position, and heading to Europe!
    - - -
Daniel Sturridge fired our 4th just after half time, slotting it cooly past the keeper when one on one, and that was the end of the scoring; we'd done all we could to make it to Europe, and the boys put in a sensational performance.
    - - -
Full Time: West Brom 1-4 Liverpool
But it wasn't enough; Everton and United both won, and we finished the season in 6th place!

  44. Season Roundup 2014/15

In truth, it was a dissapointing season, although there are several positives, mainly the performances of the younger players in the squad.

  45. Transfers 2015

    Transfers In

Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-bony-wilfried.jpg
    Wilfried Bony - Swansea - 18.5m
Last season, many suggested that Liverpool's issue was up top, with youngster Alberto Cerri their top scorer with only 12 goals; Dylan De Rossi looks to address that, with the signing of powerful striker Bony.
Bony began his career at Sparta Prague, where he made a total of 59 appearances, scoring 22 goals. He moved to Vitesse in 2011 for 3m, going on to make 65 appearances, scoring 46 goals.
After his 13.5m move to Swansea, Bony made 68 appearances, scoring 23 goals. Liverpool fans will be hoping his prolific record continues here, and are keen to see their new man settle in.

    Christos Ntousaridis - Xanthi - 1.2m
An exciting young prospect, Liverpool snapped this Right back up after only 5 professional appearances. Touted as a star of the future, Christos expressed his determination to better himself at the club and push for first team football when the time came.

    Luke Lally - Watford - 3.6m
Another young prospect, Lally was brought into the club by the Head of Youth Development, in a transfer bound to excite fans. The 16 year old irishman is still to make a first team appearance, but training performances suggest he is something special.

    Willie Mosson - Motherwell - 4.5m
An exciting young Scottish talent, Liverpool beat competition from Man City and Barcelona to sign this starlet. A natural left winger, Mosson has been loaned back to Motherwell for 12 months to aid his development.

    Transfers Out

Liverpool have cut their squad size, with many youngsters leaving for nothing. The departures are:

  46. Guardian, 10/07/2015

    Liverpool Shake Up Pre-Season
Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-coutinho-kelly.jpg
Liverpool today confirmed that their pre-season will be spent out of the country, starting with a training camp in America, which culminates on July 14th, before the squad take in a tour in the Dominican Republic, playing local sides, and then stop off in Germany on their way back to England for the season opener at Swansea City.
Some fans have expressed the view that the standard of opposition being touted is not high enough to give a realistic view of the squads level going into the new season. Manager Dylan De Rossi refuted this claim, insisting that "these games are a chance to rotate the side, see how everyone's feeling and playing, and give youngsters a chance to impress either me, or clubs that want them on loan. Essentially, its an exercise in youth development."
Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-coutinho.jpg
Star winger Coutinho echoed his manager's sentiment: "It's good to be going somewhere warm, relaxing and invigorating, and playing teams locally; it gives us all a chance to gel and bond, and gives the boss the chance to tinker with tactics and such, and also to work out how to get the best out of everyone."
Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-pedro-chirivella.jpg
And midfield starlet Pedro Chirivella is looking to make the most of this pre-season, and urges his fellow youth academy graduates to do the same: "It's an amazing chance for the players who maybe don't see as much game time, it's a chance to prove we can contend with the big names in the squad, and a great occasion to push ourselves hard to be ready for the season"

  47. Dominican Republic 2015

Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-image2a.jpeg
Liverpool kicked of their preseason tour in style...not on the pitch, but off it. The beach above is essentially their backgarden as they stay in a complex of villas for the duration of their stay.

They opened the tour against Barcelona (DOM), and it was an encouraging display.
    Barcelona (DOM) 0-4 Liverpool
    Cerri (30)
    Luis Alberto (49)
    Raheem Sterling (57)
    Fabio Borini (69)
The match was, as to be expected, very one-sided, although much of the defensive frailty which marred last seasons campaign seemed to be gone. De Rossi introduced a number of youngsters at half time, including ex-Barcelona man Sergi Samper, but it was academy graduate Jordan Lussey who really impressed, linking attack and defence to great effect.
Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-jordan-lussey.jpg
It's obvious that this tour is the start of a good thing for the boy from Ormskirk, and he'll be hoping to build on his efforts today!
    - - -

Liverpool continued their tour today with a game against
Domingo Savio, and manager De Rossi opted to field a side which could have been mistaken for full strength. It showed in the first half too, with Liverpool 3-0 up by the break, but with the introduction of the younger players, the team fizzled out slightly, and the game finished 3-1

    Domingo Savio 1-3 Liverpool
    Coates (17)
    Coutinho (22,35)

    Ozuna (87)
    Man of the Match
Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-coutinho.jpg
    Coutinho (8.7, 2 Goals)

    - - -
The final match of Liverpool's jaunt around the Dominican Republic saw them take on Pantjoa. Again, the side featured some big names, but there was also a number of young players determined to show their worth,

    Pantjoa 0-4Liverpool
    Agger (15)
    Druissi (38)
    Ocampos (48)
    Coutinho (53)

It was a mixture of youth and experience which created a sublime display from Liverpool. Captain Daniel Agger opened the scoring with a header from a corner, demonstrating why they put so much work in on the training ground.
Two of the team's best talents combined for the second goal, when Alberto Cerri layed off Druissi, who slotted the ball home to the delight of the travelling fans.
Lucas Ocampos then scored a sublime individual goal, which vindicated some of his transfer fee on its own, as he beat 6 players to lop the onrushing goalie from a tight angle.
Coutinho added Liverpool's 4th with a snap shot from just outside the box.

    Man of the Match
Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-agger-daniel.jpg
    Daniel Agger (9.0, 1 Goal)- - -

  48. Pre-Season 2015

After the pre-season tour of the Dominican Republic, we stopped in Germany for a few games before actually making it home...

    Bielefield 0-0 Liverpool
Overall a disappointing performance, although the clean sheet was encouraging

    TSV Bugdorf 0-7 Liverpool
2 goals each for Sturridge and Coutinho, plus Bony, Ocampos and Agger made for a very convincing performance.

    Aachen 2-5 Liverpool
Ocampos, Sturridge, Agger and Allen, plus an own goal, put paid to any notions of a giant killing here

Overall, i'm very happy with pre-season, and the way the team have played

  49. Just wondering how everyone's feeling about this? I want to start uploading screenies of games, tables etc, but I cant get my SS uploader to work properly

  50. Deadline Day Shock

Liverpool and Glory reunited (Take Two)-aguero-announcement.jpg
This is the face of new Liverpool man, Sergio Aguero. In a move which is thought to have cost the club somewhere in the region of 28m, they stole Aguero out from underneath the noses of French giants PSG.
The former Atletico Madrid striker had not returned from holiday following his involvement in the Copa America with Argentina, but cut his extended break short to sign for Liverpool and will join up with his new team-mates at Melwood through the week

    The 27 year-old has agreed a five-year contract worth around ?205,000 a week.

Aguero scored 10 goals in a struggling City side last season and is confident he will be more effective at Anfield.
