  1. Winning the Champions league with a Gibraltan team

I have just downloaded the Gibraltar pack and I am going to try and win the Champions league with one of the teams. I will probably do a season overview at the end of every season.
The team I chose to be are the Gibratan Boca Juniors, who are in the Gibratan second division. As I've said I will update on my progress every season.

  4. Got sacked because of very poor run of results for Boca so moved on to Leo Parrilla. Here are some screenshots from the first season:

    Quick Overview:

Despite an injury plagued season (at one point 8 first team squad members were injured), we managed to win the league on the last day of the season and finish above expectations in both cup competitions. Next year is our first in the Champions league and my aim is to get into the second qualifying round of the competition.

    Quick Overview:

After a good start to the season, we had an 8 game slup were we failed to win which ultimately cost us the league. The champions league was a great finance boost and from the money we got from it I reinvested it back into the clubs youth facilities so we get better re-gens.

  9. do you get a youth intake cos i did a season and never got 1 so gave up

In the Gibraltar the youth intake day is 8th march not 23rd of February like it says on some websites. But yeah I've got a youth intake every year

  11. Season 5: 2017/18:

    Gibraltar Premier Division: 6th

Gibraltar Premier Division league cup: 3rd in group (out of 4)

    Leo Parrilla Awards:

    Yamal Sebtaoui (10)
    Most assists: Muarice Coehlo (8)

    Top player:
Yamal Sebtaoui (10 goals, 5 assists, average rating: 7.14)

Winning the Champions league with a Gibraltan team-rob-yiannakou_-news-inbox-2.png Lost it a bit...

    Quick Overview:

Again, a bad blip of form about half way through the season cost us the league. Stuart Felice and Yamal Sebtaoui have both retired which will make next season much, much harder for us.

  12. If there are any followers of the thread can you post something in the comments. Want to know how many people actually keep up with the story.

    Quick Review:
Brilliant but nervy season, winning the league on the last day of the season with the magpies slipping up and not managing to win. Some great regens coming through into the first team squad even though some of them didn't make any appearances. Still a very young squad so many successful years to come. Also, we had to play Lincoln 4 games in a row and we managed to complete the clean sweep by beating them all 4 times and 5 overall in the season.

    Quick Overview:
A terrible run of form cost us the league and almost our place in the League cup Semis. I did a bit of tactical reshuffling during the bad run (7 games without winning) and they seemed to work. We got into the Euro cup and I think I can get to at least the second or third round of qualifying and getting some good prize money next year. Also next year I want to win at least two trophies, the league and one of the cups. Also, A long term servant Alberto Angel Paredes Morente is retiring at the end of this season.

    Quick Overview:
After a disastrous pre-season, I changed my tactics to Sir Goalalots original tactic, and i worked great so I may use it next year but I may also make a new tactic for next season. I have also decided that I am going to go after the Gibraltar job when Allan Bula either retires, gets sacked or resigns. Next season I'm going to try and go for the quadruple and also get into the second or third round of Champions League qualification.

    Quick Overview:
After a good pre season we continued on to win the Pepe Reyes Cup and only continued our new found dominance of Gibraltar. Winning the Rock Cup and the league but I was bitterly disappointed not to win the League cup as well to complete our first quadruple of the save. In the second division, Lincoln finished 3rd and so we will not be playing them in the league next season.

  33. WE ARE A SEMI-PROFFESSIONAL CLUB

I have been waiting to say this since I started the series and this is a massive step for the challenge, although the odds for the series being completed is minuscule, this is a massive boost, we have a wage budget of £1,500 and a transfer budget of £0 so the next step is full professional status, which may take up to 5 years depending on what European competition we get into and how far.

is it three quali rounds before the group stage of champions league? And at what stage would you go into the europa league qualifiers?
I think youve done a great job so far, im gona keep following,
    good luck

    Cheers mate, appreciate it.
After you win the third round of qualifying you go onto a playoff which decides whether you go into the champions league or the europa league. At the moment if I qualify for either the champions league or europa league I will have to enter at the first round until the league coefficients go up.

  36. I guess the coefficients wont go up untill you qualify either?
Would be amazing to make the group stages of champions league though,
aint it like £400k for losing a group game? Plus like £7m for making it to the group stage?

  37. I dont know in the slightest clue how coefficients work but I know that since I took over Gibraltars league ranking has gone from 54th to 49th and my aim is to get a 2nd qualifying round place (46th).
I agree that getting to the group stage would be like completing half the challenge and it would also do a great deal to not only our coefficient rating but increase the awareness of Gibraltar football in general.
Here is the prize money for the champions league in game:
Loser of 1st round of qualifying - £118K
Loser of 2nd round of qualifying - £236K
Loser of 3rd round of qualifying (Champions) - £254K and qualifies for Euro Cup 1st round
Loser of 3rd round of qualifying (Best Placed) - £118K and qualifies for Euro Cup 1st round
Loser of playoff round of qualifying (Champions) - £1.77M
Loser of playoff round of qualifying (Champions) - £1.77M

Prize money per win in the group stages - £845K
Prize money per draw in the group stages - £442K

Appearance money for 1st knockout round - £2.95M (Win or loose)

Appearance money for quarter finals - £3.29M (Win or loose)

Appearance money for semi finals - £4.14M (Win or loose)

    Loser of final - £5.49M
    Winner of final - £8.87M
I don't know at the knockout stages but will update this post as soon as I know

We had a nice little run at the start of the league season unbeaten in 7 (half the league season) but then I tried a tactic I made and we lost a couple of games because of it but we finished the season well after going unbeaten in 6.

Good win and the first trophy of the season after a fairly sub par pre season.

This was always going to be a victory but for me the semi final felt more like the final as we were playing he hardest team left and they are our bogey team but winning in the final was easier than I thought with two quick goals from club legend Maurice Coelho and a goal from Bacarese to win it for us and to clinch our third treble in three years.

I have started pre season early with the hope that we can go into the Champions league qualifiers with much better stamina and conditioning so we wont get tired out and hopefully make it through to later rounds

I knew from previous experience tat we can breeze right through he first round of qualifying and we were given an easy draw in the form of Lusitans.

A 5-0 win with goals from Platt(2), Buttigieg and Coelho(2) set us nicley up for the second leg where we could conserve our energy for the 2nd round. We dominated the game and I cant wait to get an automatic place in the 2nd round because we breeze through this round every year.

This was a closer game only becuase I wanted to conserve energy so I told the players to take a breather for 70 minutes of the match and in a way it worked because we did conserve energy although it was a tight scoreline I was always confident of going through.

In the second round we got the bosnian team Zeljeznicar and I was also very confident we could could get through despite the odds being stacked against us.

In the first leg we pulled off a major shock in beating them 1-0. Before the match I told myself that the team had to be resilient in defense and that they were sniffing out any danger to the goal. When the final whistle went I ran around the house in my boxers screaming because I knew that we had given ourselves such a good chance of getting through.

Things didnt get off to a good start with our keeper spilling the ball in front of Ibrahim Ibrahimovic. But we equilised meaning that we were winning the tie 2-1, they scored and so we were through as it stood on away goals but in the 91st minute, they slotted the ball in the back of the net. When that goal went in I was so temped to throw my chair and the floor or window but instead I went on my bed and just lay there for a couple of minutes. It was such a disapointment knowing that we were just a few minutes away from getting into a playoff.

    Next year. Next year.

  43. So close mate, hopefully the training facility upgrades will help aswell,

  44. I was so annoyed but next year we will get through

  45. Id love to give this a try, but it looks hard lol

  46. With competitive fixtures it doesn't take that long to finish a season as there are only 14 games in the league and a maximum of 4 games in the rock cup (5 if your in the second division). But what takes time is stuff in the background like facility upgrades as when you are amateur the club only has about 200ish thousand and are unwilling to upgrade anything

  47. Defiantly be next year, I give it 5 years and you'll be in the play offs so you'll be in some group stages! Then the upgrading begins

  48. Maybe ill give it a try,

  49. This looks very interesting! I'm quite interested in starting a save in Gibraltar now. How challenging and rewarding do you find it? It looks fun as you can get through seasons quite quickly and then trying to qualify for the Champions League is the main long term objective and improve the club and league's reputation.

I will definitely try it. Is there any teams you could recommend? And where can I download the league because I think it's not actually in the game from the start?

  50. It can be very fun and in a way quiet challenging becuase as you said, the season is very short, but as i is very short, you HAVE to play well for all the season because so many teams are close to you points wise. You can download the leagues by downloading it from the football manager workshop, just search in Gibraltar and it is the one published by SI. If you want to start with a team and you want it to be a fairly short term save start with Lincoln as they are already in the Champions league and in real life the best team in Gibraltar. If not then you can start with any team they all have the same facilities and stadium.
