AFC Bournemouth today released a club statement regarding the future of fans favourite Eddie Howe:
'We are sad to announce the mutual termination of Eddie Howe's contract. After a dispute over this seasons' budget and targets, both parties felt it best to depart. He will be replaced immediately with young manager Owen Coker who we felt was the most suitable candidate for the job. We share a similar, optimistic vision and hope that he can bring us success over the coming years.'

We strengthened our weakest position (left-back) with the acquisition of Kgosi Ntlhe from Peterborough in the summer and he proved to be more than good enough for the Championship. During the season we signed brought in a few loan signings to cover for injuries but the squad I inherited was already strong. In January, loan singing Bamford was signed permanently from Chelsea after a fruitful loan spell.

The first season couldn't have gone much better. We battled with Norwich all of the way but eventually coming out on top with victory on the last day against Brighton. We had a decent start winning six of our first nine games but after a 3-2 defeat against Brentford at the beginning of November we went on a 22 game unbeaten run which cemented our place at the top. We dropped points against teams in mid-table (Sheffield Wednesday & Ipswich) that we shouldn't have and our only notable defeat was against Norwich towards the end of the season. Considering we added just two permanent signings we got promotion comfortably and banged in a whopping 113 goals. With a few smart additions we should be fine in the Premier League.

I'd hoped we could maybe make the quarter-finals but I can't complain about going out to a Premier League side. We made some of the easier games hard work but had some fun on the way; thumping Sheffield United
5-0 and a nine-goal thriller as St. Andrews.

A fully rotated side edged through the first two rounds against lower league opposition to set up a mouth-watering clash with bitter rivals Southampton. We put in one of our best performances, snatching a one-nil victory on the break. Disappointingly however, we were knocked out by Charlton at home.
