EVV Eindhoven was founded in 1909, as the sport grew across Europe, the working class people of Eindhoven decided that another team was needed in town. The only other club in Eindhoven was PSV, a club created for the workers of Phillips. Flash forward 65 years and EVV Eindhoven have been relegated to the Jupiler League, where they have remained up until this day. In 2002 the club owners changed the club name to FC Eindhoven.

My Goal

I have set myself a 5 year plan as you can see below, I aim to be in the playoffs my first season, promoted by my second, surviving in the Eridivisie by my 3rd, solidifying myself in my 4th and challenging for the title in my 5th.

Why I chose Eindhoven

View attachment 256071

I wanted to manage Eindhoven because of their city rivals, PSV. I wanted to bring Eidhoven FC up to the Eridivisie with the aim of knocking PSV off their pirch.

Key Players

Branco van den Boomen

View attachment 253257

Solid young defensive midfielder, could potentially make the step up to the Eredivisie.

Roald van Hout

View attachment 253256

A hard working trequartista, great work rate and team work, prolific goalscorer.

Fries Deschilder
View attachment 253255

Another youngster who could make the step up, versatile but best at central midfield, exciting player.
Transfers

Due to our financial situation not being the greatest in our first season, we were left with limited funds to sign players. Overall I was happy with the squad, but I wanted to strengthen in a couple of positions.

Oger Klos - Free

View attachment 253260

Jeffrey Vlug - Free

View attachment 253259

I'm happy with both of the signings I've made, Oger Klos added cover for me in defensive midfield, and the versatility of Jeffrey Vlug adds cover for plenty of positions.

FC Eindhoven vs Helmond Sport (18/10/2014, 3237 attendance)

Match Overview

A derby to forget, we were outclassed by a strong Helmond Sport team. They got lucky with the penalty in the 22nd minute but we were no match for them over 90 minutes. Not the fairytale story I wanted.

Fixtures

After a solid first period in charge of Eindhoven, things got tough as we moved on through the year. In our last 10 games we have only managed to win 2 of them. Accumulating 6 losses. Out of a possible 27 points in the Jupiler League, we only managed to pick up 8 points, a tough start where I was worried for my job at times.

Period 2 League Table

A very disappointing period for us, ending up finishing 16th in the league for those 9 games. We need at least a play off spot this season if we want to hit the goals I set out from the start, unfortunately it's not looking likelyat this point.

We have 4 games until the winter break, we must regroup during our month off and come back in the new year firing on full cylinders, that's if I even make it that far, my job is on the line. We must perform.

FC Eindhoven Sign Gregory Lacombe

greg_lacombe.jpg

After a successful trial at FC Eidhoven over the winter break, Gergory Lacombe has signed for the Jupiler League club on a free transfer. He played in both friendlies over the break, and managed to get a goal in the 2nd game vs AZ. He is said to have caught the eye of Eindhoven manager Jamie Thomas who has already said he will play a part in the second half of the season.

Fixtures

Prior to the Achilles'29, I was worried about losing my job. It was early days but there was talk around the club of a rift involving Paul Beekmans. The squad was unsettled and the fans were questioning my managerial ability. In our last 5 games before the winter break, we were unbeaten.

3 draws set us up for our fixtures against Jong Ajax and Sparta. 8 goals in 2 games and only conceding 1 game me hope going in to the break. We signed Lacombe and he offered us a breath of fresh air out on the left wing, we returned after the break and managed to win 2 games vs Jong PSV and Jong FC Twente. The pressure is off, we can push on.

Period 3 Table

dc4cb4050db5d2ccb4e7361ce0d8b650.png
We were so unlucky to miss out on a play off spot in this period, only losing to VVV by 2 points. We had 1 more period to make an impact on the final table, we were still in the mix just on the brisk of the play offs, but things were tight at the top, it was anybodies to take, but we need to win, draws are not good enough, we must go for the jugular.

The 4th period awaits us, 12 games remain, it is make of break for us this season, it may be make or break for my career, the next 3 months will define the rest of my footballing future.

FC EINDHOVEN WIN 5 IN A ROW
FC-Eindhoven.jpg

5 of the best from FC Eindhoven as they enter the race for the Jupiler league trophy. Eindhoven remain unbeaten in their last 8 games, managing to pick up 20 points in the process. As the Jupiler League draws to a close, Eindhoven go in to the last 5 games with more momentum than anyone around them. After lingering just outside of the play offs for most of the season, can Eindhoven find one last burst of energy to push them over the line?

Fixtures

While speaking exclusively to Goal.com, when asked if he believes his team can win the league title, Jamie Thomas responded by saying "We've really hit our form over the last period, we've managed to grab ourselves a guaranteed play off spot, but I believe we can go 1 further. Out of all of the top clubs around us, we are the team with the most momentum going in to the last 5 games. Everything is up in the air, anybody can win this title, but I am sure we have the players to compete."

Period 4 League Table

FC Eindhoven managed to grab themselves a guaranteed play off spot by finishing period 4 top of the table. After 9 games the title challengers were unbeaten, taking 21 points from a possible 27. With the Jupiler League coming down to the last day, all eyes are on FC Eindhoven and Jamie Thomas as they aim to achieve history for the club.

FC EINDHOVEN CROWNED CHAMPIONS

OF JUPILER LEAGUE

97f8a2460056d36b34091f5e68903f0d.png

After a tremendous second half of the season, FC Eindhoven have secured promotion to the Eredivisie by beating Telstar 1-0 at home. The race for the title went down to the last day of the season with Eindhoven needing to beat Telstar to win the league title.

Eindhoven manager Jamie Thomas has been hailed as a hero, 12 months ago Thomas was working on a construction site while part time coaching U11s at Swansea City FC. He was offered the Eindhoven job after sending a copy of his footballing philosophy to the Eindhoven board.

Thomas will look forward to next season, in particularly a city derby with PSV. Thomas was quoted as saying he wanted to "knock PSV off their f*****g perch"

In Eindhoven's last 5 games of the season in the Jupiler League, they picked up 10 points out of a possible 15 to secure the league title, beating Telstar 1-0 on the final day of the season to lift the crown.

FC EINDHOVEN SPEND BIG

IMG_7298GAL.jpg

After their promotion to the Eredivisie, FC Eindhoven have smashed their transfer record by signing young left winger Mesca for £750,000 from Fulham FC.

Jamie Thomas has been extremely busy this transfer window, strengthening his team with no less than 10 players for the upcoming 2016/17 season.

Eindhoven will hope their new signings can spur the team on to safety this season, as the newly promoted team are hotly tipped to finish at the foot of the table.

I was given an 800k transfer budget from the board, I mostly signed free transfers and loan signing but I splashed the cash on Mesca. I believe in this kid, on paper he's the best player in my team, I worry that this signing could be the death of me, but Mesca has the ability to drag this through a relegation dog fight.

Our first season in the Eredivisie. The past year feels like a dream, I remember the gossip between the fans, doubting the board for appointing an inexperienced manager like myself. There were times where I thought my managerial career would be over within 6 months.

My first full season as a manager saw me lift a trophy. I now have a chance to take Eindhoven to the Eredivisie, I feel a close connection to this city, but I see too many red and white flags, too many PSV shirts. This is the time for Eindhoven FC, this is the time for blue and white. This season we must fight, not for ourselves, but for the people of Eindhoven.

I received a phone call from the club chairman Michiel Pieters asking him if I could visit his office. This was the day after we had collapsed against Vitesse. 7 goals we conceded, I stood on that touchline feeling helpless, the boys were being shown a lesson. It didn't help that the game was on prime time television, the game was mean to be an underdog story, instead we were given a footballing lesson.

executive-office-furniture-21.jpg

Michiel Pieters (Eindhoven Chairman) - "That was embarrassing, 1500 travelling Eindhoven fans just saw their team collapse at the first sign of a challenge, what do you plan to do about this? We have to maintain a good image, this is unacceptable"

Jamie Thomas (Eindhoven Manager) - "We can only look forward to next game, there is no need to dwell on the past, football is football, we must move on"

Michiel Pieters (Eindhoven Chairman) - "That is not good enough. You may only have to worry about the team but I must worry about the state of this club, the team is ashamed of themselves, there is no morale left in this team, they are deflated. I must see results, this is our big chance in the Eredivisie, the pressure of the whole city is on you. I am disappointed in your reaction, please leave my office"

--------------------

I have never seen Michiel react like that, the last time we had words was at the beginning of last year when we were struggling in the Jupiler League. I was too casual about the loss to Vitesse, I had never lost a game like that so I didnt know how to react. I had never seen the team in such a sorry state.

Our first 8 games in the Eridivisie hadn't gone well. We have only managed 6 points. I wonder if Michiel will lose his patience with me. For the first time in my career I am wondering if I can handle the pressure.

FC Eindhoven vs PSV - Jan Louwers Stadion (4373 Attendance) - 4/10/2015

6d35c56190bbfb1ad9782c2dfc68f5a1.png

Our first derby with PSV in the Eredivisie, we had given it all in the first half, PSV scored early through van Ginkel but we fought back and managed to grab a goal from Deschilder just before half time. Unfortunately PSV's class shone through and they pulled away in the second half, with the eventual result being 3-1. It was a shame to lose my first derby with PSV, but we gave it our all and that's all I can ask for.

Since my last talk with the chairman, things had improved. I have realised that this league is different to the Jupiler, everything is different, I went in to this season with a game plan that may well have worked in the division below but had no chance in this league.

Thankfully our results have picked up, since the Vitesse game we've played 10 games, losing only 2 of them. We've pushed forward in the Dutch cup and we're now in the 4th round vs Heerenveen.

League Table

After 16 games we've picked up 18 points, not a bad tally and we're now 5 points from the relegation play offs. Our great results recently have pulled us from the bottom of the table.

Upcoming Fixtures

Every game is tough in this league, but our next 10 games or so look favourable to us. We have some good momentum and I hope we can continue our good form throughout the remainder of this year and after the upcoming winter break. This period ends with another derby vs PSV away, I want revenge for the last derby.

Unfortunately not, we were actually affiliated with PSV prior to our promotion.
