Hearts broken in the 88th minute. It was a real shame because we played some really nice football and were much improved from our last game, it just wasn't to be. Rondon picked up his third goal in two games which is nice as he can cover for Mane's horrendous goal drought that now stands at 2 games.

My hand is kind of forced here by injuries meaning not many changes can be made. Sane is going to get a chance as a winger on the left hand side while Correa gets a shot in a central role. Rondon starts up front to try and keep his good form going and hopefully gather some momentum.

Another mixed month and another month of what could have been's. Our injury curse has certainly held us back to an extent but I cant help but feel our struggles are in front of goal and not in defence and midfield which is where our injuries have tended to be.

Its still this lad. Sadio Mane has been a monster, grabbing another couple of goals and assists to further increase his own stock. Rondon can feel slightly hard done by not to get this reward, but his goals only earned us a point where as Mane scored in our win and kept us in the cup.

A change in shape for this match as I switch to a 4-3-3 just to try and shore things up a little bit and create a more solid defensive base to launch counter attacks from, exploiting the pace of Sane and Mane. Arnold is fit and returns to the side as does Jung, while Knoche gets a chance at centre back, replacing the unimpressive Yoshida.

It is the most satisfying feeling in the world when you put a plan in place and it works perfectly. That is exactly what happened today, as the rhyming speed twins (Sane and Mane) tortured the Schalke defence, grabbing a goal each and getting Howedes sent off for a two footed challenge along the way. Yes the had more shots than us, but we created by far the better chances. A great win.

OK, so even though he has dismissed it, this is something that I need to pounce on right away. I have already opened contract talks with Sadio to try and get an extra year or two put on to his contract, and as far as I am concerned it is going to take a £50 mil + bid to even tempt me. He has been that important to us.

Really poor again. This time we tried to work the ball into the box and it turned out to be the wrong move again. Thankfully, just when everything seemed to be lost, Sadio Mane popped up yet again to equalise for us with his 13th goal of the season. We need to improve and quickly if we are going to get Champions League football.

I have gone completely left field on this one and drastically changed things up. Inspire by Chelsea in real life at the moment I have gone for a solid back 5 with the two holding mids in front. This presents an opportunity for Knoche to come into the side. This is a HUGE gamble, as I have never played this formation before, ever. But things can hardly get much worse.

What. A. Win. A perfect performance as we held strong defensively and hit them towards the end of the game on the counter attack. Despite coming up against Aubameyang, Coutinho, Reus, Schurrle, Gotze and Iheanacho (All of them were on the pitch at one point or another) we limited them to long range efforts and they didn't have a single clear cut chance.

Brought in to provide some competition for Sane and Correa, Keita is a tricky inside forward with great pace and technique. Correa has been really disappointing so far this season and I just felt that if Sane doesnt play well, we dont really have any more options, so Keita can fill that gap.

Name:	Mangala.jpg

With just 6 months left on his contract, we pounced for Mangala. Playing three at the back, we needed another centre back for depth and we got one of first team quality. There is no doubt there is a quality player in Mangala somewhere, hopefully now he has left City he can show that once more. We even managed to get City to pay £40k of his wages so we only have to pay him £68k a week. Bargain.

    Out

    Shinji Kagawa - £7.25 mil - Hertha

Turned out to be a really poor signing. Made little to no impact whatsoever, and with our change in formation, the only playmaker we use is in a deep lying defensive role which he would have been unsuited too. We decided to cash in and claim a tidy profit on what was a free transfer at the start of the year.

    Jakub Blaszczykowski - £80k - Brondby

Jakub had 6 months left on his contract and wasn't going to get a look in, especially following the arrival of Keita, so we took the £80k while it was on offer and shipped him off to the Danish league to Brondby.

We were not good today, but picking up results when your not playing well is always a good sign, Kessie with his first goal for the club was the saviour today. A big game at the top as we take on 2nd place Hoffenheim who have been on fire this season. It is going to be a clash of back 5's today, it will be interesting to see if we are both just going to be far too defensive to make an entertaining game.

This shows just how far we have still to go before we are a top team in the division. We held our own and went toe to toe with them for the first half, but we got a little bit complacent in the second half and ended up throwing it away. Even worse was Mangala getting sent off, meaning he is banned for the next match.

Knoche comes back in to the side to replace the suspended Mangala but otherwise it is the same familiar starting line up.

Well there is one thing we do know about our side, we are consistently inconsistent. A great performance today with the result to match as we very comfortably swept aside Nurnberg, goals from Mane and Keita either side of another Witsel penalty secured the points to end the month strongly.

Not bad, not great. We are starting to pick up wins with the formation, it is now just a case of ironing out the problems and I think we could be on to something good here. At least the draws have stopped!!

Fairly happy with where we are sat at the moment. If we finish the season in the Europa League spots then I think we can be quietly pleased and build for a push for Champions League next season. Bayern, as you can see, are just gone at the top.

Franck Kessie gets it this month. The lad had a lot to do, coming back from serious injury but he has done so well. For a start he has displaced Max Arnold in the side, which is no mean feat, and his energy and strength in the centre of the park have really kept things ticking over for us. An unsung hero.

A huge month for us, Mainz, Leverkusen, Schalke, Leipzig.. all good teams, and a chance to advance in the cup a well.

It's the familiar 3-4-3 formation again with Mangala returning from suspension to replace Rojo who is suspended himself.

A memorable win against Mainz continues our fairly good form and helps us solidify our place in the table. A quickfire double from Rondon got us off to a flyer before Keita made it comfortable late on. Mainz has vastly more possession and more shots than us, but our counter attacks were lethal and in terms of clear cut chances we dominated. Two assists for Sadio Mane again proves just how important he is to us.

  29. Corrupt save file guys. Absolutely gutted with this. I cant be bothered to go back three months to before the transfer window which is the last clean save, so we have two options.

    1. I resign my post at Wolfsburg and look for a new club to continue my story with...

    2. Call it a day and begin a new story as this was only supposed to be a sort of warm up anyway.

Let me know what you guys want me to do! I will put a poll up for you to vote on.

  30. Definietly new save imo, even though this have been a very very good save I'd like to see you do some kind of Road To Glory or a lower league Journeyman save, your writes-up are excellent.

  31. Gutted you've lost the save. Read it from the start over the last couple of days and was loving the save. Definitely start a new one and hopefully you enjoy the same success

  32. I will leave it until tomorrow to decide just to let some more people vote, but if you think I should start a new save feel free to drop some ideas in as to what you would like to see? A pentagon challenge perhaps? too common? what about a capital city challenge? Non League to the top? Rebuilding a formerly great club? Alex Ferguson challenge? let me know!

  33. I think non league to top would be awesome...and capital city sounds nice

  34. Capital City would be great as I've never seen one be done. Too many lower league saves IMO (especially English). Would be great to see you rebuild a team like Milan but it's quite similar to your current save. Rewin the champions league with every club who's already won it challenge?

  35. Such a shame about the corruption as you've done fantastic work so far. I think a sleeping giant save would be good, someone Inter or AC as markkkkk mentions before me, take one of them to the top of European football and sustain it.

    Best of luck!

  36. New save. LLM save in italy or spain maybe? Rebuilding both milans?

  37. I quite liked how you were doing it before; starting at a struggling and somewhat unfashionable club and seeing where it took you! Would be happy to follow something similar

  38. Maybe try a Paris Fc one? I quite like the idea of becoming bigger than PSG wil be a tough and long save

  39. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oo!!!!

Damn I was loving this save!

Well I'll just have to follow the new one instead!
