  2. Thanks guys, glad there's still interest. At some point I may just do end of season updates if it is dragging a bit at Dortmund.

World team of the year comes through and Grassi and Effenberg are in the first team with Rettig on the bench. Two more of my players in Tom Schofield and Javier Cantu are in the first team.

For a second consecutive season Rettig is named as European Golden Boy as his promising career picks up pace.

All quiet on the transfer front, which is good. I've managed to fend off interest in my best players again. I suppose it helps being one of the best and richest teams in the world.

Reasonably plane sailing again in the second half of the season we did hit something of an iceberg in the two games away at our two closest rivals. Venâncio, who has been out of this world since signing, had an absolute nightmare game against Wolfsburg. I dropped him for the Bayern game and his replacement didn’t do much better.

    Name: league table.png

That makes it 5 in a row now, 5 more to go. We didn’t break any records thanks to that disappointing draw against Dusseldorf, who were relegated.

It’s never really been in doubt from about 5 games in. Bayern (blue) had a terrible start and Wolfsburg (green) have been consistently average under new manager Mauricio Pochettino (their last manager, my replacement, was appointed Germany manager).

My frustrations in the cup continue, we put out a strong team, pretty much full strength but we somehow lost this, seeing us knocked out in the 3rd round, which “won” us the tag of biggest under achievers.

When City got their away goal in the 82 minute I worried. The same player then got their first in 7th minute in the away leg. Then I was really worried. The second came 18 minutes later and we were behind in the tie. We went for it as much as possible but couldn’t get through. They got a late goal then to seal it for them.

He is one of my favourite players as he never makes a fuss and is almost never injured. Good man Anton.

I kind of panicked with this transfer. There isn’t much between this guy and our other backup right back but the other guy has been fluctuating in the coach report between 2 star no potential to 2.5 star 3.5 potential. This guy has that in the scout and coach report and comes in for E33.5m from Wolfsburg. The other guy has gone on loan to Wolfsburg, not as part of the deal but obviously to replace him.

  5. Good first half of the year. I do almost for get that it is a journey man save. Have you turned down many approaches for your services?

  6. It's been really weird neavie pops, whilst in a job I've only been approached twice, the first time was Randers the second time was Dortmund. I've had a ton of interviews when I was unemployed but whilst in a job I had an interview for FC Midtjylland I think it was when I was at HIF, which I obviously didn't get. At Randers I had interviews for Swasnsea and Kobenhavn both I didn't get because I was only willing to go at the end of the season. Nothing at Wolfsburg and Nothing at Dortmund. I was linked in the press and the press favourite for the Liverpool job going into this winter break but that is literally the first sniff. It's meant the save really hasn't gone as I expected. The only save I had done prior to this one was a disaster so I expected to bum around Europe for ages, but it's been amazingly successful for how poor I am at the game, and despite that I've never really been head-hunted. I will say I am starting to get very itchy feet here at Dortmund and if anyone comes in for me I could well leave.

It's been a surprisingly busy January transfer window which is why the winter break gets its own post. I all basically stems from me losing my rag after the PSV game.

    Name: Rettig.png
Views: 269
Size: 49.3 KB

Rettig keeps hold of the European golden boy award. He may as well keep it permanently at this point. Elsewhere Pla wins French player of the year again, as does Medina win North American player of the year, again.

    Name: Carbaugh.png
Views: 267
Size: 258.7 KB

Carbaugh comes in as an exciting prospect at left wing. He was actually pretty good value at E22.5m from Freiburg, too good not to go for really.

    Name: Schutte.png
Views: 266
Size: 913.2 KB

Schutte is the first of two players I went out and bought after the loss to PSV in a rage. Ersoy has been pretty poor, is 32 and moaning about first team football so I decided to replace him. Schutte is very much like Rettig, not quite as good but should be good backup/competition. A pretty big transfer at E55m from Wolfsburg but hopefully he will be here for many years.

    Name: Dorner.png
Views: 263
Size: 335.1 KB

Dorner is the second rage buy. I felt we were a little weak in midfield, ball winning midfield in particular. He comes in for E55m again this time from Bayern. Both these players I have probably over payed for but it’s really hard to pry away good German prospects, Carbaugh being an excepting, making him such good value.

In order to bring in these trasfers I had to raise a bit of money through player sales.

    Name: Grassi.png
Views: 263
Size: 14.9 KB
It wasn’t really my intention to sell Grassi but he came and said he felt he had achieved all he could. He is a club legend but I thought he could leave now on a high and I could get a bit of cash to bring in younger prospects. He went to Wolfsburg for E20m. I really didn’t want to sell him to a rival but this caused a massive argument and he got his way. This one almost balances out with the Carbaugh transfer.

    Name: Erdem.png
Views: 263
Size: 15.7 KB
With Dorner coming in I decided to cash in on Serkan Erdem and got E20m from West Brom. He wasn’t going to get any better so I thought why not cash in on him.

This was an epic final, we went behind against the run of play and looked like we wouldn’t get back into it. Things looked even worse when Medina got sent off for a second yellow. But somehow we found two goals from Pla and Miranda (who found himself up front for the end of the game) to come back and win it.

Despite a very successful season I have not been able to secure a new contract. I want a pay rise to E50k pw, which I think is more than fair given what I have achieved with this club. The club wont budge asking me to take a E10k pw pay cut. That may be my fault a little due to poor finances, which I am working on. Some good jobs should be coming up at the end of the season, I’ve been strongly linked with Chelsea and Arsenal, Barcelona might come up too (which would be my preference). We will have to wait and see if I stay or leave. When the Bundesliga prize money comes in the finances will be fine, perhaps the club will make me a reasonable offer then.

  11. Well done on the double and unlucky on the Champions League. How have Liverpool and Coventry faired out on your save?

Gouveris got goal of the season for an incredible effort in our victory parade against Bayern on the final day of the season. With my contract running out and not wanting to work on a month-to-month deal I made the difficult decision to leave Dortmund after 8 years at the club. In terms of what’s next, well the Arsenal job is no longer available as the Juventus manager took that. But that does leave the Juventus post vacant. With not much else on offer I will submit an application for that.

Before moving on to anything else I will take stock of my achievements in my career so far:

Interestingly Roger Machado, the PSG manager, has replaced me at Dortmund. That leaves the PSG job also vacant, an even more interesting proposition. Juventus gave me an interview and offered me the job on E46k pw, a slight pay increase. I will hold out to see if PSG offer me anything, if they can match that I think I will go there.

They did offer me the job, and matched what Juventus offered so I will be switching seats with Roger Machado.

So I make the relatively short, 6 hour, move from Dortmund to Paris. Looking at my 26-year journey so far, if I were to drive it in one go it would take a mere 33 hours.

With the kind of money I am on here at PSG I am able to afford a small apartment in the city quite easily. I’m building up something of a property portfolio in the wake of my management career.

The first 11 going into the season looks as follows:

    Name: Malando.png
Views: 229
Size: 348.8 KB

Solid enough looking 'keeper, only 27, he's no Venancio though. Will have a season to prove himself to me.

    Name: Giminez.png
Views: 228
Size: 349.8 KB

Gimenez comes in from Barcelona for E24m and is probably first choice. Right back is a weak area for us.

    Name: Rennan.png
Views: 227
Size: 341.1 KB

Renan is a quality looking centre back, a bit of a monster too, and is our best free kick taker, I fancy him to get a few goals from both free kicks and corners.

    Name: Theilemann.png
Views: 228
Size: 350.8 KB

Thielemann is a real legend of the game who has been at PSG for many years now. I had my eye on him before he came here. At 33 though he is on the decline. I've triggered a years extension for him but I will be looking to replace him in the not too distant future and I have someone in mind.

    Name: Kellnriter.png
Views: 225
Size: 350.5 KB

A player who I have worked with before. Way back when I was Austria manager I gave him his debut as a 17 year old. Since then he has made 120 appearances for Austria and played for Man Utd and PSG, not a bad spot.

    Name: Schofield.png
Views: 225
Size: 353.3 KB

I'm absolutely delighted to be linking up with Schofield again. We picked him up from Sunderland in the championship at Wolfsburg. He left for PSG since we left. He's the current holder of the Ballon D'or, he's won it the last two years running. He's also won world player of the year and world golden ball twice too. Another decent spot.

    Name: Alsfeild.png
Views: 222
Size: 360.7 KB

Another player I had my eye on but PSG pinched from under my nose. This guy has been the undisputed best ball winning midfielder in the world for donkeys years now. Again he's on the way out a bit, but again I have my eye on a replacement.

    Name: Svensson.png
Views: 226
Size: 356.1 KB

Quality player Svensson, bit of a weird but useful one though. His best position is Raumdeuter but can play anywhere down the right flank. I've fancied trying my hand at a 343 at some point and he is perfect for it so it might come out at some point.

    Name: Adam.png
Views: 228
Size: 273.8 KB

This is a signing of Machado's before he left but no complaints from me. I had contemplated accepting a E122m bid off Real Madrid for Kristian Berthelsen and signing this guy as his replacement. He's a quality player who is equally comfortable in attacking midfield or deep lying playmaker.

    Name: Telecha.png
Views: 226
Size: 338.5 KB

Again this is Machado's signing but it is a sensational one, and one I would have made at dormund last season for sure if I hadn't decided to only bring in German players. This guy will go out on the left and I am excited to see what he can do.

    Name: Blevins.png
Views: 224
Size: 356.8 KB

I mentioned this guy a few seasons ago when he went to PSG. He really terrorised me when he was at RBL in the Bundesliga. Another player I am really excited to work with.

In addition to the players mentioned above I have brought in a few more:

    Name: Tresvan.png
Views: 225
Size: 354.1 KB

A backup 'keeper brought in for a bargain E3.4m from INTER.

    Name: Saidi.png
Views: 230
Size: 344.3 KB

Not sure if this will go down as one of my best signings but Saidi comes in for E45m from Lens to act as 3rd choice striker with a view to him developing into a 2nd maybe 1st choice (but probably not) striker one day. In reality he will probably stagnating and leaving but if we get a good few years out of him E45m aint bad at this level.

    Name: Petkovic.png
Views: 228
Size: 353.5 KB

Last signing, for now. Petkovic comes in for E30m from Southampton. He will challenge Kellnreitner for the starting spot. He wasn't the man I really wanted. RBL have an unreal left back prospect I tried to get when I brought in Franke from RBL. They wanted E150m for him though so I will wait see if he hands in a transfer request or see if I can get him for cheaper when he is closer to the end of his contract.

There is a limit to foreign players here in France and I am already maxed out and have shipped some out. On top of this two of the players I want to bring in to replace ageing player will count as foreign so expect some more action in January.

  18. still great to follow. cant believe you were at Dortmund for so long!

  19. Awesome. Managing PSG is a definite long-term ambition for my current journeyman save. Looks like a class, if slightly ageing team there.

  20. Personally I'd have preferred Juve as I've always had a soft spot for the Old Lady (Juventus that is, not actual old ladies) but glad to see you back in management quickly and hopefully a few more leagues titles and some European glory won't be too far off

  21. Thanks for the continued support guys, thought it might be more interesting for you lot if I moved on, it's certainly reinvigorated me. I never thought I would stay as long as I did at Dortmund but nothing has gone as I thought it would on this save really. (neavie pops - I was REALLY tempted by Juve, I'm thinking I try to win the Champions league here then try get that job next time it comes up)

After looking around I think this guy may be the best ball winning midfielder out there. He’s not the finished article but I think he has a lot of potential, although my coaches don’t really seem to think so. He comes in for E34.5m and he is rated at E52m so he must be a decent signing.

    Name: Munoz.png

Final signing comes in as a bit of a panic buy on deadline day with our current second choice winger leaving to free up funds for a new left winger who won’t be arriving for 18 months. For a free transfer he’s not bad.

If I do retain it I will keep going until I don't win the champions league. This is all about hall of fame points for me now, but also I want to win the champions league in Germany, France, Spain, Italy and England, nobody has done that in this save.

42 goals, an average rating of 7.79 and 8 man of the matches for player of the season Blevins who also tops the goals, rating and motm charts. Telechea got 28 assists, 12 in the league to win him top assists for the league in addition to the club. Alsfield gets the highest pass completion, doing exactly what I am after in the ball winner role, break up play, make the short passes to creative players.

Elsewhere in the European championships Rettig’s impressive careers continues winning the golden boot. Blevins came third and another of my old players Filippazzo comes second (he’s at Spurs now and having a great time of it over there). Blevins did win the best goal of the tournament, with Schofield coming second.

  26. Not a bad season I suppose Surprised how easy the CL was for you, looked like only Bayern gave you any trouble
