Overall a good squad that should be able to compete for promotion.
Last edited by spireross; 22/02/2017 at 03:40 PM.

  4. We've been given a £10,000 Transfer budget and £5,965 P/W wage budget to help achieve the boards targets of a top half finish, 1st round of the FA cup and 2nd round of the FA Trophy. Overall these should be achievable but i'd like to be pushing for the play offs this season at least!

    Short term aims: (1-2 seasons)
    Get promoted.
1st round of the FA Cup.
    Go professional.

    Medium term aims: (3-5 seasons)
    Reach the football league.
3rd round of the FA Cup.
    Establish a youth policy

    Long term aims: (5+ Seasons)
    Overtake Mansfield.
    Overtake Chesterfield.
    Overtake Sheffield United.
    Overtake Sheffield Wednesday.
    Reach the Premier League.
    Reach the Champions League.
    Win Both competitions.

  5. Pre-season was full of losses but it was mainly used to improve finances and it didn't hit moral too hard so i'm not too bothered.

I'll be looking to play a 4-1-2-2-1 this season and keeping things basic.

  6. August

    Vanarama National League North

    Stockport vs Alfreton

Our season started with a well deserved win against a much fancied Stockport team. After the keeper spilled a cross from Monkhouse, Hearn was there to tap in the only goal and only real action of the game giving us all 3 points. To limit Stockport to 0 shots on target is very pleasing too!

    Alfreton vs Gainsborough

The game started well and after Westcarr played a lovely ball round the corner to Hearn who fired home and then Monkhouse crossed from the opposite side for Hearn to ram home his 3rd in 2 games after 21 minutes it looked like we we're going to run away with it. But half time came and energy levels dropped and a super strike from Rothery put them back in the game. After Burdett curled home the leveller it looked like we we're going to lose it but we held on to take 4 points from the opening 6 frustrated that it's not a 100% start.

    Alfreton vs Curzon Ashton

Curzon Ashton came into this game with 24 hours less rest and bottom for the league after 2 defeats. I remained unchanged for the 3rd game and it paid off. Westcarr scored a fantastic goal and then a half volley to put us 2 up again but a repeat never looked like happening. Hearn continued his form scoring a header from a Monkhouse cross and late on Baillie was send off for his second yellow.

    Brackley vs Alfreton

A very frustrating game not only did Westcarr miss a penalty but Monkhouse is out for 5 weeks with a twisted knee.

    Alfreton vs AFC Fylde

Well a win's a win no matter how we get it! A quite comical own goal.

    Darlington vs Alfreton

Darlington had played 2 games in the week we'd had since our last game but you wouldn't know it looking at this game! We we're lackluster and Darlo got the deserved victory.

    Alfreton vs Tamworth

The month ended the opposite way it started, with a 1-0 defeat. We had the better chances but couldn't take them and we were punished.

    Monthly review

A good start was dashed by a disappointing end to the month.

Very disappointing as we dominated the game, I dropped Westcarr due to average form and it backfired. Liam Hearn also picked up a bruised thigh in this game that rules him out for 2 weeks.

    Alfreton vs Harrogate

Another disappointing result and some unsure defending cost us the game.

    Boston vs Alfreton

This could have been a lot worse! The better team won nothing else to say

Leiston vs Alfreton (FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round)

Well, that backfired! I rotated the team as much as I could and it was almost embarrassing.

Alfreton vs Leiston ( FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round Replay)

It turns out the first team is no better. Shambollic is the only thing i can say! To make things worse Monkhouse made his return and picked up a thigh strain and is out for another 5 weeks.

    Alfreton vs Kidderminster

Finally a win, we started to forget what it feels like.

  9. November

    Alfreton vs Halifax

    Another defeat another shut out.

    Bradford PA vs Alfreton

Well we managed a goal but another loss.

    Alfreton vs Altrincham

The pressure is really starting to mount now.

AFC Telford vs Alfreton (FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round)

A WIN!!!!! It may only be the FA Trophy but it's a win, i changed my tactics coming into this game too. As an added bonus Hearn broke his goalscoring duct.

  10. December

FC United Of Manchester (FA Trophy 1st Round)

2-0 yet again but this was worse! 3 injuries and an ultimatum from the board.

WHAT A WIN!!! Okay i'll admit i feel bad here. The first game was called off and rearranged for the 27th, our boxing day game was re-arranged but Salfords wasn't? So it lead to them playing 2 games in 2 days.

Last edited by spireross; 23/02/2017 at 01:06 AM.

  11. January

A month with 6 games including a trip to table topping Fylde and 2 games in 3 days vs Telford, a points target to hit and a new signing. Can we shoot up the table or will we be looking for a new job?

    Alfreton vs AFC Telford

The first game of the year saw the first of our double header vs Telford at home. A thrilling 5 goal game with us coming out on top was a great way to start the year.

    AFC Telford vs Alfreton

Our reverse fixture was a bit calmer but the outcome was the same again Westcarr getting his 8th in 3 games.

    Harrogate vs Alfreton

Harrogate came into this game just a point and 2 places behind us and it was a cagey affair, but a victorious effort.

    AFC Fylde vs Alfreton

Away vs top of the table Fylde, i expected a thrashing instead we managed to get a point after leading twice.

  12. February

A big month for us, can we gain on the play-offs or fall back into the obscurity of mid-table? Who's our new loaniee?

    Gainsborough vs Alfreton

A quite incredible free-kick won this game for us.

    Alfreton vs Stockport

Disappointing to drop 2 points against a team in the relegation zone.

    Curzon Ashton vs Alfreton

2 penalties and a hat-trick for Westcarr who's flying up the scoring charts now.
