Swansea City At Liberty

This story will follow the managerial career of the Legend that is Thierry Henry. I am approaching it from an angle where Henry has retired from football and has gone into management. The first test of his career will be with Swansea (I thought about going lower division but as it is my first story thought I would stick to what I know), hopefully progressing on to bigger and better things, but the main goal of the story is to end up at Arsenal.

Swansea appoint Henry

Swansea City have today appointed Arsenal legend Thierry Henry as there new manager. It was speculated that Henry was interested in the job after announcing his retirement just a couple of weeks ago, but no one expected the Frenchman to be a front runner for the job. Speaking just minutes after the appointment of his new manager, Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins had nothing but praise for Henry. He stated that Henry has the Drive, Motivation, Determination and Passion that he was looking for and he firmly believes that Thierry can lead his club forward.

Henry Press Conference

Q - Thierry, as it is your first managerial job many people are very surprised that you have been appointed the manager of Swansea, can you tell us what you think drove the chairman to appoint you?

"Well as Huw said I have the Passion and Determination to make the best of my current position. I believe I had an edge over the other managers as I know how Swansea play, good free flowing football which entertains everyone who watches on, I told the chairman that I will try and bring the same style of play to Swansea which the previous manager brought. I told him it make take some time adjusting to life as a manager and he completely agreed with me. I believe that myself and Huw have a great understanding of each other and know what the other hopes to achieve."

Q - What are your expectations with Swansea?

"My expectations are to have a solid season, I am hoping for a Mid-table finish but I do believe the squad is good enough to get into the Europa League and win some silverware in the domestic cups, this is something we will be having a go at, after all I am in the game to win trophies."

Q - Thierry, you say the squad is good enough to challenge for Europe, is there any departments which you look to improve on in the Transfer Window?

"Of course, there is always room for improvement in every team. Even Real Madrid and Barcelona. As a new manager there is obviously players not at the club which excite me and I hope to bring into the club, but if these players do come in they will have to work for a place in the Starting XI."

Q - Can you tell us some of these players that excite you?

" I will not specify in the details but if they excite me, then you are in for a treat

Will post update tommorow.

Got Wellington Nem for £3,500,000 (release clause) as he has amazing potential, he will also be featuring a lot in the first team right from the off.

I bought Kozak for £1,800,000 as back up for Graham. For the price I paid it is a good deal, keeping in mind he is still only 23.

Luke Moore the only player to leave so far for £1,500,000. He was never in my plans so to get this amount for him I am very pleased.
