Too easy to score on corners, too difficult to score on pens?

Hi guys.

Midways through my third season playing Manchester United, I have Vidic credited for scoring 17 goals in 65 goals. Some performance for a center back, and they have all been scored directly on corners, with my tactic being "Aim at near post", and having Vidic attack it. As a replacement I sometimes use Papadopoulos on the same position, who has also scored 4 goals in 16 games (and he has also played the position who attacks the far post throughout the season).

The 22 goals in corners also indeed indicates it.

However, when it comes to penalties, my estimate would be that I have missed more than 2/3 throughout my career. Is there however, anywhere I can see a stat for this?

And free kick taking too, is absolutely abysmal. I reckon I've scored only one goal directly on free kick, the rest hits the wall or row Z.

Mate in my second season, Coates (same instructions as Vidic) is my third highest scorer with 10, and yes, I reckon in 2 seasons Iv'e scored 2 or 3 free kicks!
But if you think of it, you dont see loads of free kicks being scored, and there have been a lot of penalty misses this season...I'd say corners are the only thing being slightly over estimated...

If you look at these statistics, ~80% of the penalties taken in PL from 2002-03 to 12-13 have been converted to goals.

But Rooney has missed 50% of his this season, so it comes down to who you have taking them...I think a lot will have to do with composure maybe?

For me is the opposite: a good proportion of penalties scored, few corners. Both in the game I've left corners as default and the one in which I've changed them to a system of my liking: near post from right and far post from left, having simillar success from both sides.

Death Ball: See if you can't change that by aiming for nearest post from both sides, and having you best header attacking near post. And then either have a good finisher or header for rebounds on the far post.

marksndygill: I'm all too aware, however I've tried Rooney, RvP, Chicha and Young, and neither of them seem be more effective than the other.

Hmm without loading the game up I'm not sure what their penalty and composure stats are?

My first season I (Gerard) missed a few penalties, second season I have Andrey Ayew/Alaba taking them and I don't think I've missed one yet, sorry I can't be of more help!

the corner bug makes fm soooo unrealistic. thank god there's no corner bug IRL as stoke would have run away with the league.

Yeah but it's not as bad as it was a few seasons ago...the corner bug that is...Stoke are as bad...

haha I just read top this thread and set corners onto near post and immediately in game I scored corner form cb header Blackburn in npower championship!
