Hi Guys

im finding fm13 rediculously hard. Iv played every fm for about 15 year now and never had a issue but no matter what i do in this game it just seems totally unrealisic. first season which newcastle i win against athletico madris 3-0 away in a europa league game then next europa game i play bate at home and get beat 2-0. i started a game with man city and could not buy a win no matter what i tried. i play the game in great detail i do my full tactics more than 1 and training. iv restarted so many times iv los count. just losing patiance with it now which is a massive shame cos i love the game!!!

to me is seems like every game is a roll of a dice and the odds are stacked against you!!

Anyone else think the same???

Initially yes. However, this is the result of the removal of the flaws that were rife in FM12, and the reliance of the player to pay more attention to things you didn't have to concentrate on in previous versions, such as player management, team talks etc. Also there are no easy exploits to use against the ME this time around-you have to do all the work yourself and remain patient where things eventually come good. You also have to make absolutely sure you buy the right players for your team strategy-no forcing square pegs into round holes this time. Also there are removal of bugs that plagued the previous FM such as players running through each other, so you have to pay more attention to attributes that are linked to dribbling etc. Like I say, initially I found it much harder but once I discovered why, I'm far more accustomed to it.

There are still some bugs in the game, but the final patch will address these. If you're really struggling, have a look in the tactics and training section, and look at the threads by Raikon 007 and The Better Half-they provide invaluable advice. As do other players too

While I do agree that its harder this year for me, I like it more. Its more rewarding to win trophies. games are much more unpredictable and just like in real life you need to thrive for consistency. You cant just bulldozer all your games anymore.

It's just more realistic than FM12, which you found a generic formation for and won every game, signed all the best players etc...as ajt09 said, look at what guys like Raikan have written on tactics and it will help!

I found that increasing the width of my team and playing with fast wingers/inside forwards yields great results mate! :)

I did think it was rubbish at first but since they have patched the match engine more recently I think its really good, I use one tactic and vary it depending who I am playing.

I think the two biggest issues with the game to enable a team to win are tactic familiarity ( I currently have a solid bar) and the players reaction to team talks before the game, if you do not get them motivated they often do not play as well.

I think they are the key for me other than the main factor of having a good team. I currently have a 77% win ratio with 5 league wins and 11 cup wins and i'm currently in 2017.

This is a bit of a different point but, I'm coming to the end of the 19/20 season and am finding my team are way way more consistent that the early years in my save. At this point I basically have a team full of regens who I've had at the club for 3-4 years minimum, almost all were at the club by age 18. Is this new consistency a result of having a squad who are tight knit and have been together a long time or solely a group of players who happen to be all getting towards their potential?

I definitely preferred FM12. But that's likely because I don't care about football much and mostly enjoy this series for the sandbox aspects. I don't know what's accurate in football and what's not, so I couldn't care less about accuracy.

I can win consistently in FM13, but it takes so much micromanaging that it feels like a second job.

What also plays a role when starting FM13 is how familiar you were with FM12, as there are quite a few little differences in how things work in 12 and 13 and it can take some time getting used to, especially when results of your actions are not the same.
