Liverpool's Steven Gerrard is the only non-Manchester United player nominated for the PFA player of the year award, with Nemanja Vidic the favourite.

Stevie Gerrard will win the award he has to, what has the supposed favorite (vidic) done absolutely nothing compared to Stevie

i think its wrong that its mainly MUFC players in the award. Van der sar should be nominated and gerrard, but what about other players from other teams? jagielka from everton for example, there are others.

yea mate i really do agree with you their are quite a few players i have been impressed with this season i do really think its unfair that its all mainly MUFC

how has ronaldo got in there? is it just on merit? cos i reckon theres been well better players than him this season. and im not a ronaldo basher, but hes not exactly set the world alight this season. will he get nominated for every award ever regardless on performances cos of who he is?

People need to remember its the PFA noms----its voted for by players, and was voted for in January. So seeing Ferdinand, Vidic and Gerrard in there is of course understandable, given their form up to that point. Giggs had good games, and Ronaldo had a few, so I guess votes for them have come from defenders (I'm not saying they should be up there, I'm just trying to legitimise why they might be there). VDS despite the clean sheet record has only been good, others have been better but I guess when no-one could score v us he got the vote. There could be lots of other players in there though, Torres, Lampard, Jagielka, Anelka even, Barry but that's how its gone.

I'd say its out of Vidic (who has had two bad weeks out of an entire season) and Gerrard, and obv my loyalty is with Nemanja :D.

Young player...i think will be Young. Literally. Though Ireland has been pretty decent amongst City's inconsistent players.

That Gerrard pic is foul. It has put me right off my dinner.

What has Vidic done this year? Been a major part of a defence that has kept a record number of clean sheets, scored 7 goals (from CB) won two trophies and is in contention for three more. Not much at all.

And Vidic was an influential part in Man United's 4-1 loss against Liverpool. Don't forget that. But in all seriousness Gerrard should win it. I agree with some of the other guys there should be other contenders than just Man United players. Gerrard should definately win it though.

if vidic wins the award will ferdinand be picking it up with him because recent weeks have shown vidic is average without rio next to him.

plus big jo an fellaini will run them ragged in the fa cup next week, come on!!!

My own personal shortlist of 5 would have been:

Gerrard
Lampard
Giggs
Cahill (mainly cos he played so well as an emergency striker)
Jagielka

Please feel free to call me a fool or an idiot for making those choices but thats what I think :p

i think Cahill, Felliani, Jagielka have all been really good this season. must be a bit frustrating as a player if its just players from the top 4 winning awards every season - even if they've not necessarily been the best

I agree. Having said that, although Fellaini has played well, I think he is let down by the way he plays (leading with elbows rather a lot - at least he has done recently)

not one aston villa player get a nomination either even though theyve been really good for most of the season. hangeland, matty taylor (delap;))- players like this who havent been bought for massive amounts but excel and are consistent should be rewarded and praised with some awards - maybe not with this award but there should be one for the obvious players then maybe one for unexpected players or under-rated ones

Well Villa's two best players Young and Agbanlahor are obv both under-21 and got nominations in the young category which would be expected. Not sure of any other Villa players who could have got their apart from Barry like i said, maybe Laursen but again he got injured.

Cahill is a really good shout actually, he's done very well.

The young player noms btw are:

Young, Agbanlahor, Ireland, Evans, Rafael, Lennon.

fellainis disciplinary record lets him down or he would be in dat shortlist

baines should also be in there, he was the only consistant player at the start of the season for us.

manager of the year has to be moyes, but ferguson will probably get it because hes ferguson

maybe if he stopped elbowing his fellow pro's, they may have voted for him

Vidic is ***** without Rio, Rio is ***** without Vidic, blah blah blah. Two of the best CB in the world at the moment. They must be good if their fellow pro's voted for them.

I think Giggsy should win it, he never has and thats a travesty.

Agree with the likes of villa, everton players not getting recognition. Jagielka has been great.

Its a travesty Giggs has never won it but it doesn't mean he should this year, he hasn't been our best player.
