Hi guys! Got a tactic to share. This is a tactic that i've designed to exploit the 'glitches' in FM. It works a treat for me cos at one pt the media even claimed that my team just cannot stop scoring goals...I was managing Man City and won the league with them. Every match my team scores. And best of it, i did nt tap their resources at all.

Ok back to the tactic...I believed all of u have played FM 2009 and the earlier versions of FM as well and of cos, knew there were 2 prominent 'glitches' that SI haven really resolved it...Remember that the match engine made sure that the 'trailing AI' will score late goals to draw or win the match? The famous 'glitch' that some FM forum mates claimed it's a cheat by the AI? Well, that was how i derived at my tactical formation, resembled abit like 4-2-4, but nt really so. I was thinking like if the AI used it effectively, den we human players can do so too.

Well becos the formation looked too attacking, tat's y u can see tat in team instructions i used counter attacking, attack down both flanks, and tight-marking. By attacking down the flanks only, u consolidate ur 2 central midfielders to do the defensive work while the wingbacks will play the supporting role instead. And as i were saying, this tactic exploit the '4-2-4 glitch', i've seen my Man City though trailing by the AI in some matches, late in the game they do find the that equaliser or winning goal. The best result i had was incredibly thrashing Man U 5-1...after claiming in the press conference that "my team will not hold back" a game day earlier...lol

Another glitch that this tactic exploit is the 'corner-kick glitch'. Remember that you always had ur best heading players 'challenge the GK'. I've incorporated that in as well. My Man City's Richard Dunne is the club's 3rd top scorer...Looks like SI haven do anything to this as yet. It's still very easy to score from corners, as long as you gt a half-decent corner taker and a half-decent centre back like Dunne...more often than not it will do the job for you.

Anyways, i haven really tested it on lower league teams yet. And please take note, this tactic may not be very successful if you think you use it on lower league teams trying to get a result with big clubs...One word of advice...use your common sense...

One pt to take note...there is no need for you to change the tactic instructions at all during matches... cos if the AI decide to attack...the likelihood of u scoring on the break is higher. And if the AI decide to defend their lead...it will be facing a firing squad in the shape of ur team...so leave the instructions as it is from the start to the end...

How about some screenshots of your league table and results you have had mate?

Hi having looked at what you wrote about this tactic i thought id test it with my dorchester team in bss.

I played 5 games using this tactic then the same 5 games using my usual tactic. Using yours I had 1 win 2 draws and 2 loses scoring 9 conseding 12. Using my tactic I had 2 wins 2 draws and 1 loss scoring 5 conseding 3.

I'm not slating this tactic as I may use it in certain situations like last 20 mins of matches but just found my team didnt hang on to the ball as well and defending was abit eratic however 3 of the goals 2 being equalisers came after 90 mins.

But I believe use what works for you so good luck with game.

Ok...For me...at the start of 10 games wth man city i also had mediocre results..somethin like 3wins 4draws and 3losses...nt really ideal...but after that it'll pick up becos if u always maintain high morale wth ur team...the idea SI introduced in FM 2009 which is team blending will kick in...

How i start every match is tat i leave my tactic instructions as it is...and at opp instructions menu...i simply do nothin...i did nt man-mark key players, wrong-foot anyone or something like tat...who cares if they gt Ronaldinho or Cristiano R?...the main idea of my tactic is the team play as a unit...U can see all my players switched to zonal marking as a global settin...becos for me i always believe tat if u man-mark...ur defenders get drawn out of position by the opp..if u play as a unit, sometimes u dun even need to turn on offside ur opp oso will get caught in it...

Somethin i read frm the FM 2009 game menu is that the key in holdin off attackers as a unit...is to set ur defenders' closing down instructions to 'own area' or 'own-half'...as u have already set their mentality to defend...there's no need for u to set 'closing down whole pitch' at all...becos this will oso lead to ur defenders regularly goes out of position in ur last defensive 3rd as well...so my DM's and Defenders' instructions had been set to more to contain rather than closing-down, and this is further reinforced by the counter-attacking style being ticked as well...

I also had tight-markin on for my defending players cos if u read the game menu...it says tight-markin means u do nt allow the attackers any space even ur defenders gt beat...some of my matches did see these effects in place...whereby though the AI team is having more shots than mine...but all frm long range efforts...

Anyways...i recently did a mod to the tactic...i removed my right strker's 'holding ball' order...cos while committing himself to the cause...he's nt scoring...lol

I was going to try the tactic but I actually changed my mind. This text(speech) hurts so much in my eyes and because English is no my native language, I have problem reading it

My suggestion is that if you want feedback from users, then try to use proper English and use full sentences, punctuation etc.

Cheers
TBH

These are some screenshots frm my other man city game for which i took over after Mark Hughes is sacked...Look at how much he spent and when he was sacked after a horror 5-0 loss to villareal... i had to rescue them frm having just 33 pts in Feb to 59 pts...7wins 5 draws and 1 defeat (By Man U). Barely qualified for Europe...

A very interesting 'read'. Please do not use txt speak. It's in the rules...somewhere.

Might try your tactic out if you used it with someone other than Man City.

Just thought I'd drop in and comment on this tactic (4-2-2-2_Variance). I just started using it and got DWWWW as my results so far. Had odds to lose all 5, even got a 4-0 scoreline against a team I had 13-2 odds for in an away game.

The team I am playing is St. Albans, I took them from BSS to Coca-Cola League 2 so far and that is when my tactic I was using (Tylerbode's) stopped being effective. This one seems to put a lot of pressure on the opposing team and creates a lot of shots on goal. My team is probably a bit below standard for the league as I was only just promoted this season, so you don't need super players to make this work.

I'm using tall, strong strikers and tall strong defenders (good heading) so scoring some extra goals from the corners is great.

So if you're in a lower league or middle-ish league give this a go, it might work for you too.
