No matter how I fiddle with the settings, players stand off far too much, and a centre half will stand off all the way up until the striker puts the ball in the net.

I never see players stick a foot our or anything, and the opposition runs right past them.

Players get pulled out of position very easy, but they don't attempt to tackle, and the get stuck in instruction does not change a thing...

I play as Leeds and other managers actually complained about my team playing too roughly last season, so yes,it is possible to get your players to tackle and play hard.

Team instructions close down and tackle hard + individual instructions to do the same will get them to tackle more.

You are playing leeds Don Revie stlyle.

My players get booked far too often, so I'm guessing you can get them to tackle. However, in the match engine I rarely see either side making tackles or receiving yellow cards (which is why I'm so shocked when my players get suspended). They usually stand off the player until the ball is intercepted, or the player with the ball runs straight into a defending player.

I've got 2 red cards for harsh tackles. I also see my players don't tackle at the beginning of the play, in the midfield, like the majority of the players do IRL, which provokes some strokes on me.

But i also see some beautiful slides that i just hope don't catch a leg!

Try hard tackle in general and in player instructions and in OI

I am testing a tactic which has 'high closing down' and 'get stuck in' shouts - my players are flying into tackles. Even Carrick is going in two-footed.

Well if you've only got it set to "key highlights" then a key highlight isn't going to be a defender making a tackle is it?

If you really want to check, watch the whole game.

They tackle, but then tackles usually aren't helping to make the play a highlight.

I usually watch key or extended depending on how important the game is, but every goal I see is the defense being terrible, not a good attacking move.

It's undeniable that defenses come to a complete stop when the engine decides someone is going to score. No match instructions can change it at the minute. Center midfielders beating multiple players and scoring. By beating, I mean running past stationary defenders...
