Recently Liverpool have been playing in a sort of 3-4-1-2 formation which got me wondering if something like that could be recreated in the game. After a lot of trial and error I came up with something that is quite close to the way they play. 3-4-1-2 just wasn't working out so I altered the formation to a 3-4-2-1 with one of the attacking midfielders having the new shadow striker role, similar to the role that Sturridge plays in real life- just behind Suarez.

I have played using this tactic with Tottenham with mostly positive results. I'm in first place in EPL in my first season and in the quarter finals of the Europa League. Everything is working fine with this tactic with my team usually creating 2-3 CCC each game. The only problem I have faced is that the Striker usually only gets 12-15 touches a game. That is very few considering my team usually has 55-60% of the possession. I tried different roles for the Striker such as DLF, F9, Trequarista which do increase his touches but he usually stops scoring. Anyway I would love to hear back from anyone who might be able to come up with a better role for the striker.

Players Needed:

Goalkeeper- Pretty straight forward here. Good reflexes, shot stopping and mental attributes.

Sweeper: Should be moderately fast with good marking, tackling and anticipation. Good passing attributes would be a plus point. Note that if you do not have any natural sweepers just turn him into a center back and play with three center backs.

CB: Same as sweeper

CWB: Needs to be fast with good dribbling, crossing and tacking ability.

BWM: Tackling, anticipation and passing are important attributes.

BBM: Work rate, tackling and passing.

AP: Passing, dribbling, passing and creativity.

SS: Finishing, passing, creativity and dribbling.

AF: Finishing, acceleration, composure and dribbling.

Training:

I basically have match training at maximum and have it set at tactics until familiarity is maximum. Then usually put match training at 30% and set it to attacking movement. Basic training is set at team cohesion until the season starts and then changed to general after the season has commenced.
