Wolves - Mick McCarthys Long Awaited 'Successor'

Oliver Travers walked into the changing room, he looked at the shirts staring into his green pale eyes, names from all over the world from the past decade or so, the most well known 'Klose #11' a lethal veteran german striker with fantastic experience and goalscoring record. 'Ledesma #24' Solid midfielder who had a great technique and passing range. 'Mauri #6' Club Captain and talented tricky experienced creative player. 'Hernanes #8' Free Kick Specialist and great long range shooting abilities. 'Lorik Cana #27' experienced Centre Half. The facts are, I could go on forever, but I wont, the point Im trying to make is, german legend, club legend, albanian legend or...wait for it...football manager legend, nothing earns you your place in the Stadio Olympicos fortress, without the heart desire and determination of a champion.

Now what I wanted to do here is build a team, whether that will happen at Lazio, I do not know, all Im saying is I want it to happen but say I get fired, I wont just give up, I will come back fighting. Whether it be in Italy, England Spain or Germany.

I started at a team who hadnt won a major trophy in 12-13 years, since Sven did so well there, and even though in some ways it looks different now than it did then Serie A it can always be achievable. So first things first I bought Marco Sau for 4.5 million from Cagliari, other targets like e.g. Damiao and Diouf were available but everyone buys Damiao, I wanted to be different, plus Sau has very good all rounded stats and his wages aren't that high so he is all in all the perfect signing (please remind me I said this when I'm raging at him mid season for missing an open net on a 19 hour goal drought in a must win game against Roma. Thank You) I checked a few names on the shortlist also who were on frees and bargains, not much was there. I will update when the season begins and if we buy another player though Im not planning anything. Thanks for reading the intro, stick with it!

Change of plan; screw Lazio, started a new file with Inter, bought Julio Buffarrini for 4 million from San Lorenzo, I will update shortly.

If there's one thing I am that's what I am!

Alright lads, here are the games so far, already argueing with that dodgy Moratti so don't be surprised if my contract is 'mutually terminated'! My job is already insecure after 6 games lying in 12th place, he wanted a 'chat' with me after my last game a 1-1 draw with Sampdoria at the Meazza, but he said we we're poor, we had a war of words, I blamed the players, he blamed myself and I wouldn't let him do that so old stroppy Morratti is in a mood with me, hey this reminds me of when they sacked Gasperini in real life after only 5 games, tbh I am so lucky to have that extra game, THANK YOU CHAIRMAN!!!

Inter 3-1 Cesena (Cup)

Icardi (17,27,pen 81) Granoche (84)

Fiorentina 2-1 Inter

Mame Diouf (70) Valero (90+2) Milito (43)

Inter 0-1 Sassullo

Reto Ziegler (26)

Cagliari 0-1 Inter

Ibarbo (Red, 27) Guarin (3)

Inter 0-0 Roma

Chievo 0-2 Inter

Icardi (38) Milito (63)

Inter 1-1 Sampdoria

Milito (21) Eder (pen, 42)

As you can see we haven't won at home as of yet, sitting in 12th which isn't good obviously but the Inter the last few seasons have been poor since Mourinho left, and they are in dire need of a change.

Unfortunately I got fired by Inter Milan after my 10th game, after these games I beat Livorno 2-1 at home, then lost to Juventus 3-1 away, and finally got beat at home by leaders Napoli 2-1 at home which was inevitably the final straw , I tried to look for a job for about 18 months and got many interviews with mostly Serie B teams (I was that desperate unfortunately) and that didn't come to anything in the end, I will continue below a new story I have challenged myself to, I will be trying to get Wolves back into the premier league from League 1 which will take at least 2 seasons but it's a challenge, I will continue this story with my new one as I know a few people are quite interested and I would hate to disappoint them.

Oliver Travers, 26, was shockingly appointed as the new Wolves manager today, after only a few months in the job Jacket stepped down due to differences between the chairman and the rest of the board, Travers a sunday league footballer, declared himself surprised but delighted to be the new Wolves manager and declared 'Even though I am unknown to most of the footballing world, I will always give 100 % and I am once again delighted to be the new Wolves manager, I like to play a short passing possession attacking game, and I will always try and bring players through the clubs youth system' When asked about 2 forgettable seasons and whether he could get them back up Travers remained confident of his chances saying 'Of Course, we have the qualities at our great club, some fantastic players and we all want to be pushing in the same direction, which is promotion.' When asked about the squad he said 'Yes, I met the players this morning, declared how even though they didn't know me they would hopefully welcome me into their team as one of their own.'

First things first, signings I have made so far, when I write this we are 2 games into the league 1 season, so I will update with everything that has happened so far:

Sold:

Roger Johnson, 1.2 mil to Palace, I thought I would get rid of this guy, his 30k p/w wages in no way represented his ability and I thought overall he would be a bad egg in the dressing room.

Richard Stearman, 1.8 mil to Palace, Ideally I wanted to keep him around but as there is a still a great choice of young cbs and quality players there I thought best to bid him and his 15k wages farewell.

View attachment 442518

Carl Ikeme, 1 mil to Notts Forrest, I was sure that Hennessey would be first choice so I thought it best to clear him off of the wage bill, he was on about 7k so it wasn't worth it for a backup.

Bought:

Shane Lowry, 675k from Millwall, this guy looks like a quality cb, intended to replace Stearman, he has all the stats require of him plus he has two natural positions (CB and LB) so he will be a great instrument to our defense.

Rob Kiernan, 100k from Wigan, a promising cb, looked like a bargain at 100k asking price and I couldn't resist, we needed a good young cb to improve our squad and he was perfect for the bill.

Emmanuel Frimpong, Loan from Arsenal, a great DM at this level, fantastic stats and this is one of his favourite clubs apparently aswell so we got a fantastic signing here. :D

Mark Howard, free, saw this guy on a free agent and identified him as a great replacement for Roger Johnson.

View attachment 442513

Stephen Hunt, free, obviously most people know Hunt well from his time at Wolves already, and I immediately decided to make him our first choice left midfielder.

Lee Croft, free, some people will know Croft, I know I remember him well as he was a good prospect when he was at Manchester City and then enjoyed a good spell at Norwich, and even though he may have fallen from grace a bit since then I thought he'd be a quality competition with Zeli Ismael for that RM spot.

Ideally I had wanted to sell Kevin Doyle and Jamie O'Hara to free our wage bill but it looks likely they will join us this season as nobody wants them, in the long run though I would like to lower our wage bill.

Here's the team:

I would show you the table but there really isn't much to look at, it's only been a few games.

Fixtures so far:

Preston 0-3 Wolves - League One
Dave Davis (16',48') David Edwards (43')

Torquay 0-4 Wolves - Capital One Cup 1st Round
Doyle (5',40') Sigurdarson (26') Elokobi (45')

Wolves 4-1 Gillingham - League One
Howard (16') Sigurdarson (32') Elokobi (69') Rob Kiernan (84')

As you can see we have started fairly well, sorry again for the Inter and Lazio files, I started them both but I always felt there was something missing in each of them, thanks for reading and stick with it!

Unlucky at Inter but you seem to have taken League one by storm thus far with some cracking results! Really well done! All the best for the new side :)
