This is something that has been "bugging" me for a long time. I think I finally have it finalised. Osram copied Dortmund style to some degree, but instead of winger on the right, used an inside forward. He also pushed the DM's into CM position so that he can play even closer to goal, and relied upon offside trap to stop counter attacks.

This is something that has been "bugging" me for a long time. I've been reading about Osrams tactics, and there is no consent about this, except that everyone agrees he has been heavily manipulating his approach based on opponent.

However, most agree about a few things. He used a defensive forward to put pressure on dlps, drop deep and squish play. He played a high defensive line for the same reason. He used teamwork heavily along with a very fluid approach. In most games, he used the right flank as the favorite outlet. He used high pressing.

In some games he used a 4-2-3-1 wide with counter attacking approach, not being fussed about possession, and using a tremendous tempo. But, after a few goals lead, he would drop to 4-2-3-1 deep, retain possession, and lower tempo, a tempo even slower then barcas tiki taka.

His players are physical, not technical, and he used their height and weight to bully the opposition. His right fullback is dual footed, and he gave him freedom to do both cutting in, running wide, dribbling, shooting or passing. Defenders would usually back off, as they felt they couldn't commit. Left fullback is also given a lot of freedom, except cuting in, as he is not dual footed. His right flank is usually the one starting the attack, but, again depending on opponent, he used the left flank. Never both.

As I only have demo, and there is no Germany available in it, I couldn't chose Bayern to test my tactics, and the tactics depends on his players, and is tailored for his team, so I offer no screenshots, and I hope you will forgive me. But, in case you are playing with Bayern, feel free to test these two, and if possible, give feedback.

Why you have an wide targetman? probably because you think muller played their, it was robben that played there. they games i saw arjen robben played their and its sure he isnt a wide targetman. The advanced playmaker role also isnt like that because most of the time muller played their and he is just hard working shadowstriker, and as striker you have mandzukix and gomez bot targetmans ore poacher, search for the stats most of the goals scored with header long ball out of sixteen! they sure used more the LEFT flank because ribery played as playmaker over there..

The right flank is the favorite outlet. Player playing there is supposed to do both cutting inside and crossing from byline. What they are best at, and what Jupp made them play is different, and the game offers only so much, so this is the best choice. The left flank only did cutting inside in most cases. 4-2-3-1 is specific, both deep and wide versions of it depend on amc constantly looking for the ball and creating chances. You need to have either an att mid or adv play with support role here in deep variant, to ensure triangles are being played, and you can use attack duty only if player has play one twos and come deep to get ball ppms, otherwise he will stay to much further up. However, they all need to press and use teamwork, and adv play attack has teamwork as primary attribute. Mandza is a defensive forward only because of what he does on the pitch, not because of his attributes. He needs to press dlps.

Thank you, but I beleive my settings are correct.

I can understand your roles indeed; but you understand if say that robben isn't a wide targetman! And when they where playing football it was throw the middle ore the left, but the counter attacks went to the right because robben lacked in defense and keep up playing high so i understand your chose play threw right wing!

You have some screenshots of passes played, and interceptions of your team please? because it's very difficult to make jupp heynckens tactic;)

I never said he was a wide targetman, it's just a role that offers everything needed in game to make him play like he plays for real.
I would post it, but don't know how. And I know it's difficult, I've been working on this for a long time.

You can post tactics as an attachment into a post if you used the advanced tools for posting.

made a slight mistake...the defensive forward should be on defend duty, not support...

Robben would be more adept at player as an Advance attacking playmaker or Attacking Winger with Roaming. The directional play part you're looking for is 'exploit the right flank' not wide targetman, Kevin Davies at Bolton, or Hugo Roddiega at Wigan is a wide targetman, in this role the ball will be played to Robbens head, unless the defenders misses his header, leaving Robben free, he'll be less effective having to win a header just to get the ball at his feet, even with short passing, his role is incorrect.

You are correct. Many appologies. I have uploaded edited tactics

I have made a few changes. Now I have placed a shadow striker, and a DM(s)....beleive this is better

Jupp Heynckes built his tactic around( Robben and Lahm ) as main outlet ( playing together ) Robben scores alot cutting inside while lahm pulling the DL away ( Robben was an inside forward with a lot of roaming ) Lahm was an attacking FB .

On the other side , Ribery was an attacking winger as he always pass/cross from deep , Also cutting inside when the opportunity comes , Alaba was FB set to Automatic .

Manzukic is a poacher .

A note , Manzukic was going a bit to the left towards Ribery while Robben acts as 2nd forward , They do it when they face a high defense team , Robben goes to Ribery in the left side a lot during the match to confuse the defense , Actually Robben was successful and he scored the winning goal in the CL final , Thanks to Jupp , Robben with Guardiola is less attacking less roaming less fluid , he plays as part of the machine.
