I'm in the summer transfer window of the '16/'17 season with Man United. I won the Champions League and Capitol One Cup last season, but have now missed out on the league 2 seasons running. I have a very young team with a lot of potential and a lot of cover for all positions, but as I say, they are all a relatively young squad.

I usually play 4-2-3-1 against weaker teams, and 4-1-2-2-1 against stronger teams, both with wide AMs. I'm wary that I don't have a strong DM. Looked at Pogba, but Juventus rejected ?45m offer. Should I go gung ho to sign him or invest in Kondogbia who I have had an offer of ?38.5m accepted for. Or any others worth buying?

I've got ?82m to spend, with ?162k/w wage budget, but don't want to invest too heavily in promising youngsters as I already have too many to try to give game time to. Will have to let some go on loan, but also need to know which ones I should start fielding and which ones to loan out.

Any help is massively appreciated!

Carrick and Evra should not be in your squad in 16/17. Get some one who can play both RB and LB to back up, off load 1 CB if you want to (I suggest Evans). Sell 1 AMC or 1 winger as you're having quite a lot of them, use Kagawa as AMC. For DM Kondogbia is a good player but nothing more than Fellaini (I know because I have him). You have a lot of money so get one of the Benders, or Sandro. Kevin Strootman is also nice but you have to do some research as I dont think his best position is DM

Kagawa has done nothing spectacular for me;

15/16 - 23 app, 2 goals, 1 assist, av. rating 6.76
14/15 - 24 app, 4 goals, 3 assist, av. rating 6.98
13/14 - 31 app, 3 goals, 2 assist, av. rating 6.99

Value is ?36m... worth letting him go?

Must be something wrong he always perform for me, where have you been playing him? I play him as AMC Enganche or SS but if you can sell him for more than 35M and see fit go for it

In my save too Carrick is still strong and one of the best in my squad in 2017-18 season..

I had success buying Pogba, after a couple of seasons of comments in the media and bids to unsettle him. Inexplicably, it worked and I signed him for 40m. He's very good as BBM, AP, or DLP in the DM or CM positions. I'd pursue him, personally, unless you really need to fill another position. Your squad looks good, though you might take a glance at Gotaku Sakai (RB/LB) or Jonathan Silva (LB) when you sell Evra. I have in my save sold Kagawa and bought Erik Lamela from Tottenham (similar strategy as with Pogba)--Mata, Januzaj, and Lamela are lethal for me on the wings or in the center.

I ended up getting Kondogbia who has been strong. I'm now approaching January transfer window - considering selling Kagawa still if I can get good bucks for him, but since being transfer listed, his performances have picked up, so I wont push it too much. If he is sold, he'll likely fund a bid for Lamela. Also considering selling Douglas Costa - Shaqiri is on fire for me this season (15 goals up to end of Dec) so Costa isn't getting the games and I have suitable cover.

As Dwaipayan said, Carrick has been strong and a very reliable performer, but contract is up at the end of the season, and he's now 35 so need to give way to some younger blood. Fellaini hasn't scored for me in 3 seasons and has assisted only 2 over that period, so he'll be heading off this Jan too, and i'll recall some loan midfielders (eg. Hughes).

If Kagawa is playing great, then why sell him? My AML of choice is Insigne. He also provides great corner kicks as an added bonus. PS I see you already got Kondogbia. Very good player, I missed out on signing him though because of PSG.
