We all know that guy! Inter Legend Adriano!

He had the world at his feet...yet ultimately the strong Brazilian striker fell to Alcoholism and since dropped of the side of the earth after a few failed comebacks!

Some interesting articles about him:
Adriano: Football's forgotten man

So after reading this, it has me thinking. Anyone know of any other talents(not youngsters) who fell down a similar path that resulted in obscurity??

Pretty much every Brazilian player around the age of 30 who goes to his home country on vacation and discovers the beautiful world of cocaine.

I agree, although I am talking about players who are were around 22-29years old.

Ah cocaine..lifes little miracle :p

Indeed Jardel! Completely forgot about this guy!! Scored some amazing goals!!

Also, remember all the hype over Ariel Ortega? Seem to remember him getting on the booze and wasting away to lower leagues

You are wrong on him. He continued to be great playing for the team he loved in Argentina till he retired (at 36 I think). A bit like Riquelme.

You could argue that Fernando Torres falls somewhere in the debate.

Ricardo Quaresma seemed pretty promising but never really delivered nearly fell off the radar in Turkey having a little bit of an Indian summer lately however

Jobson has been a crackhead (dude was supposedly a big talent). Read up on him and report if you want.

You are wrong on him, in a way. He has admitted he was an alcoholic, at one club he even had to go to some treatment centre twice a week for alcoholism and didn't train well enough. At River he missed 10 games because of the booze and got loaned out a lot

Maybe not a failure in the mold of Adriano, but still a tarnish on his career

Adrian Mutu...

Rumours about Muty say that he was dating a pornstar and he was on cocaine in order to be able to "perform" in a way that he could much his girlfriend 's co-workers !!!

A tarnish that I wouldn't consider more than a smear. It's like Maradona. His talent and what he brought to the game is unmatchable. So they indulged late in their career, they by that time, had already solidified their legacy. They were just have some extra fun while still doing what they loved and making some money.

Maybe he should have given Pele a call and got some of his tablets instead!

I remember when jardel had agreed to sign for rangers but it fell through because of work permit issues.
