I had a chat with miguelalves, another forum member, and he shed some light to me, regarding how Barcelona played. He quoted a news article in which Fabregas said he wasn't allowed to move without the ball, but was allowed complete freedom with it. In FM, this is done by TI run at defence, more roaming and take a breather. The latter wont allow you to hassle, so then another light bulb went above my head.

Picture a circle around your player. This is his closing down RANGE. If you choose hassle as TI, the circle is very big, if you don't opt for hassle, the circle is medium size, and if you opt for stand off, the circle is very small. So this means there is no press harder, or press less, the players will always close down. They just move out of their position to close down for a designated amount. So if you play things wide, it might be beneficial to hassle, and if your game is narrow, you can even stand off. Without hassling your players will simply close down closer to their own position.

So with that in mind, I took crystal palace for a spin and played a few matches. These were the results:

What stroke me most was great form, with a few players reaching 9, and the others more then decent.

I've tried to refit this tactic for my zadar team, and instead of using a classic 451, I opted for assymetric formation. The only difference was moving the left CM forward, and dropping the left winger back.

This was the result with crystal palace after change:
