Due an unforeseen spate of injuries/red cards to my defenders (I guess I caught the ref on a bad day as he had booked six players within the opening half hour), I had to switch tactics. I am now playing a 2-5-3 with a DM. Attacking wise, it's a phenomenon. Defensive wise, it's a nightmare. Because every goal I concede comes from the same area - out wide. After the first game, where I played with two advanced attacking midfielders on both sides, I have my wide men playing a more defensive role to make up for the lack of full backs, but they just chase the guy and let him put the cross in instead of trying to win the ball from him.

That is the only flaw I have with this tactic. They pass well and the goals are more often the not the end result of some beautiful build up work (and there have been loads of them).

Results so far are:

6-5 (was 4-1 up at one point and the score was 5-5 until the 88th minute)
4-3 (threw away a two goal lead late on)
4-3 (3-0 up at half time)

The style of play is getting rave reviews (both Ally McCoist and Walter Smith have been singing its praises), but that'll stop when throwing away leads comes back to haunt me. I play an attacking mentality, but even when I switch to defensive the wide men still get their crosses in as no-one does anything to try and stop them. I don't have many men in the box, so I could do with stifling this threat.
