I've been playig FM since 2009 and for the first time i didn't win the BPL title on the first season with Arsenal.View attachment 327574 View attachment 327573 View attachment 327572

So there is the league table and my tactic which is iinconsistent as F***. first of all even though i have work ball into box and shoot less often on players they still shoot from way outside the box. second away games are terrible, my best away games were against the big teams.. Clear Cut chances?? Not even once!! except a few games where i got a dozen of them, but normally no more than 1 or 2. Please help me!

What player instructions do you use? can you post them too?

take out instruction close down more, with your defensive line up high the space is closed anyway so your just pulling your players out of posistion... What has been working well for most is setting your wingbacks as stay wide, close down less, tackle harder, also with inside forwards they rarely get back to help out

Will experiment with close down more off.. But really the defending wasn't the issue.. the attacking movement was. building good plays? not once! i'm criticizing my players for shooting from far away a bit too much but really a good chunk (like 25%) of my goals were from that kind of shots (i'm including rebounds from those shots)

You was unlucky not to win it. I would play 2 CMs and a CAM. Arsenal havent got any DMs. Pass into space to take advantage of arsenals pace

Man I have this problem too and it's driving me crazy. Even if I have "work ball into box" and "shoot less often" the players still shoot from distance very often, and few shots actually hit the target.. its very frustrating

I bought William Carvalho though and he has been immense. i normally use pass into space but in this game whenever i use it i can't retain possession for ***** and end up home games vs the likes of Aston Villa ans Stoke with like 44% possession

some quick analysis. All 5 of your attacking players are trying to use the same space. Its likely that players are taking potshots from distance because they have nowhere to pass the ball and are getting into eachother's way.

Im curious who is usually the furthest forward player?
Who is your leading scorer? Where are the assists coming from?

If the False-9 receives the ball up front, since he is all alone, he may not be able to wait for the IFs to bypass him so he has someone to pass to because he is being closed down. That would cause him to take tons of long-shots, he really has no other option.

Finally, coming in 2nd on your first season doesnt exactly equal you sucking. If you are inconsistent, there are a ton of reasons why that may be the case. Are you handling your team-talks? Are you praising players after good games and runs of form? What is your training regime like? etc etc.

Primary problem, from a creating chances perspective, is you have no balance in your attack. You've got 5 players all being told to use the same area of the pitch. Change one of your IFs to a winger, or push your striker up more.

The b2b midfielder and an AP mean they are both going forward, maybe set one of those guys as a central midfielder on a support duty, or a roaming playmaker, so they are available to the FBs and Anchorman for short passes.
