View attachment 304399Profit making challenge:

Hi all, now this is a slightly different story that I’ll be attempting.

My aim is not to see what trophies I can win, but how easily I can win them!

I’ve thought for a while now (as is guess most people have) that the money in football is ridiculous!
We now see Premier League footballers on over £100k per week ! Radamel Falcao is reportedly earning £268k a week ! That’s £38,356 a day and over £1500 ever hour! I could go o but I wont bore people anymore.
We also see obscene amount of transfer fee’s being spent over the last few years. I’ve picked out some of the bigger transfers from this summer.

Robert Snodgrass £8million Norwich to Hull.
Abel Hernandez £12million Palermo to Hull.
Adam Lallana £25million Southampton to Liverpool.
Eliaquim Mangala £32million Porto to Man City.
Luke Shaw £34million Southampton to Man Utd.
Shane Long £15million Hull to Southampton.
Angel Di Maria £75million Real Madrid to Man Utd.

Now I’m not saying that any of these are bad players, or even bad transfers. In fact I believe that Adam Lallana is one of the best English players about at the moment, and I love that he’s come up from the lower divisions. Angel Di Maria is another a great player, when he first came over he was the best player in the league for the first month or two. Luke Shaw is also an unbelievable prospect, but you can’t deny that £34million is a lot of money for a teenager with little over a years experience. £32 million for Mangala is the one that stands out for me, again he may prove me wrong but at the time of writing this he certainly doesn’t look to be worth that much. James McArthur and Robert Snodgrass have come from the Championship but have still demanded a huge transfer fee.

Now I’m certainly not blaming the players for these fees, I’m not even blaming the individual clubs, it’s the market in which they’re operating that’s the problem.
All of these players may turn out to be great (and make me look stupid) but I think you can still win trophies and league titles without spending silly money!

So,
The aim of story/challenge is to win the Premier League (within 3 seasons) and the Champions League (within 5).

Sounds simply right?

Well, I’ll have a few restrictions to make it slightly harder:

· To make a profit on transfers EVERY season.
· Wage cap of £50k per week for ANY player (with 3 exceptions on less than £100k).
· To not pay excessive agent fees or signing on fees.
· To have an emphasis on young players who have come through the youth squads.
· To have an emphasis on English players and to supply the national team with more players than anyone else by the end of the save
· Avoid signing any wonderkids that are unrealistic signings.

1. I really feel that these restrictions will benefit the save by making it much harder to achieve success. First of all, I have to make a profit on all transfers, basically regardless of my transfer budget given, I can only spend what I bring in.

2. My second restriction will probably be the hardest, a salary cap of £50,000 per week. I’ve given myself 3 exceptions to this so it works more like the MLS. However even my 3 exceptions must be on less than £100k per week. This basically makes it impossible to buy the best of the best.

3. My third restriction is to do with players signing on fees and agents fee, this just ensures I cant cheat by offering low wages and a huge signing on fee.

4. I also need to have an emphasis on young players, this should also help by paying cheaper transfer fees.

5. I also want to supply the national team with more players than any other team.

6. My last restriction is that I cannot just sign players which are on any kind of Wonderkid list we see all the time on forums. For me that takes all the fun out of a save anyway.

Edit:
As mentioned in my last post, I've put the below table here so people can see which competitions have been won during the save . . .

CHANGE OF DIRECTION FOR SPURS

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy set up a press conference today, nothing strange in that, but what he came out with will shock and worry all Tottenham fans around the world.

Levy organised a last minute press conference to underline a new direction in which Tottenham would be operating. “This football club has for far too long spent far too much money on very average foreign imports.

Well today, this stops!” Levy said during his very emotional press conference. He went on “From the start of the 2014/2015 campaign Tottenham will be running on a much smaller budget that they have previously. There will be no £100k per week contracts, no £20million transfer fees! The club will still look to grow but with more English players on far smaller wages”.

“For the 2014/2015 season I am restricting wages to a maximum of £50k per week. I will however give the manager 3 exceptions to this rule who are allowed to earn anything up to £99k per week. I feel this will still give the club a great chance of success without risking its long term future”.

This has brought much uncertainly to the club who already have several players being paid over the £50,000 limit set by Daniel Levy.

POCHETTINO LEAVES TOTTENHAM AFTER BUST UP WITH LEVY !

Mauricio Pochettino has left his role as manager of Tottenham Hotspur after a very public spat with owner Daniel Levy. Levy last week set up a last minute press conference to announce a new direction in which Tottenham would now operate.

This meant a hugely reduced transfer fund as well as a limit of £50k per week for all the squad, giving the manager just 3 exceptions.

Pochettino set up his own press conference this morning to announce he cannot continue with this role. Pochettino said “the restrictions put upon by Mr Levy make it too difficult to achieve both mine as his own requirements”. He went on “I feel that certain promises have been broken and I cannot work in such an environment”.

This is a Premier League first where a newly appointed manage leaves the club without overseeing a single match.

Rumours are now flying about as to who the new manager will be, former Spurs legends, Jurgen Klinsman and Glenn Hoddle are both 4/1 joint second favourite behind the heavily backed Rafael Benitez.

Rafael Benitez rules himself out of Spurs role

Former Liverpool boss, Rafael Benitez has ruled himself out of the Tottenham managers position after being heavily bagged in the betting market. Benitez confirmed “the job isn’t for me, I couldn’t work with those restrictions”.

It seems as though most high calibre managers will feel the same as Benitez after the comments Daniel Levy made.

It is not know where Tottenham will look now. Jurgen Klinsman has now jumped to favourite with Tim Sherwood (only replaced in the summer) is also being backed heavily.

SHOCK AS HODDLE RETURNS TO WHITE HART LANE !

Tottenham Hotspur chairman, Daniel Levy, has shocked the footballing world by bringing Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle back to the club as manager.

Hoddle has been out of work after his most recent coaching job with QPR ended. Hoddle managed Tottenham between 2001 and 2003 where he took the side to the final of the League cup, which they lost to Blackburn. Hoddle finished 9th and 10th respectively during his two years at the club.

Hoddle is remembered for fondly for his time as a player with the club, where he came through the youth ranks as a schoolboy. Hoddle won the Young Player of the Year award during the 1979-1980 season, in 1981 he won his first piece of silverware, defeating Manchester City in the FA cup final. He then went on to retain the cup the following season and also recorded a fourth place finish, the clubs highest since 1971. Hoddle’s biggest win at Tottenham was the Eufa cup final trophy, unfortunately for Hoddle, he missed the final through injury.
Injuries brought an end to his career in North London, eventually moving abroad to Monaco.

Hoddle said during the press conference “I’m so pleased to be back at such a wonderful football club. I know a lot has been said recently about the philosophy change and about Daniel (Levy) but I’m still delighted to be back working here”.

This news will delight Tottenham fans up and down the country who can at least welcome a legend back to the lane.

This sounds like a really interesting start! One thing that may be a challenge though is that signing really top youth players is often pretty similar price wise to signing a decent level senior.

Contract wise I presume you'll just renew contracts in future under your new rules?

Really looking forward to see how this develops

Looks like its gonna be a good story,
Will you be selling off all players on over £50k? Except your 3 overs.

Yeah I've come across this already, especially with me wanting more British players which also seems to drive the price up!

Really looking forward to see how this develops

Cheers mate! Let me know if you have any advise / questions?

Yeah, first of all I'll try and reduce their contracts but i cant see that working too well, so all the high earners will have to leave! Shame really because there a few good one's going.
