I'm playing with Valencia, starting my 6th season. I have agreed to sell Tonny Trindade de Vilhena (CM) to PSG for £61 mil, which is very good business and leaves me with a lot of cash. I can immediately get Dele Alli (CM) for £28 mil from PSG (I already had him before I sold him). This would make sense, however, the problem is that I already have capable and talented CMs in my team (Youri Tielemans, Carlos Henrique (regen), Teddy Bishop and Andre Gomes). Therefore, Alli wouldn't even be first choice and be more of a rotation player. Should I buy him or leave it as it is? Which leads me onto my question, how many players per position do you tend to have, is 2 for each position enough?

Cheers

I would leave it. I tend to think 2 is enough and im sure you have players that can fill in just in case of emergency.

cheers, I forgot I have Saul as well who can cover CAM/CM/DM/CB

Usually have 3. 2 mature enough (over 20) and a youngster in case first team one gets injured to rotate with the backup in case lots of matches.

how has bishop developed

how has bishop developed

pretty well, signed for 9 mil in the first season. Rotated him and then when he was breaking into the first team he got a serious viral infection and was out for around 9 months. Now he is pushing for a place in the first team, is 163 CA 170 PA. Would recommend (depending on PA).

Same here. Have 1 amazing player, 1 backup who is reasonably good then a youngster or 2 I can call on for cover if need be.

Same as mentioned above, I have 2 for each position then then a young player who will probably be in the U21's getting called up depending on the status of the other 2.

I tend to have a squad of 25 players. Generally I like to have the following distribution (assuming I play a 4-2-3-1 which I do most of the time):

- 3 Goalkeepers
- 9 Defenders
- 10 Midfielders/Attacking Midfielders
- 3 Strikers

Obviously it's a big help if players can play multiple positions, but I'd like to have 2 players with the same dedicated best position, e.g. 2 DR, 2DL, 4DC etc.

Also, I try and distribute the ages of the players.

Generally 3-5 players over 30, ~5 players aged 25-30, 10 players aged 20-24 and the rest aged <20

depends what position and how injury prone the first and back-up player is.
