I currently have a few careers going on FM15 and I try to play them equally (although which gets played depends on my mood and what I can be bothered to do). A couple have been played a bit and the others haven't been played much, if at all.
Jan 2017- Walsall FC
For anybody who has seen my other posts you may have read about my Leicester career. In my first season I got relegated on the last day after looking to be safe just before, it was the 6-5 defeat to West Ham that would've kept me up that started my bad run. After the first season I got them into the play offs only to be sacked after 1 play off game, they stayed in the Championship but are now top.
So the original idea was to turn Leicester, relegation favourites into European Giants within a few seasons but the last minute relegation put me on the hot seat and without winning the league I was never going to keep my job. So the idea now was to do whatever I could to achieve the same thing with a different team, although it was going to be harder with my only experience being getting a team relegated and not achieving expectations.
After being sacked I had options to manage abroad, back in the premiership or other championship teams. There was also the option to manage a conference team and try to create a giant with them but ultimately I stuck with what I had said the whole time I was in charge of Leicester. The only team I would manage other than them was Walsall as they are the team I support, and it turned out that they were managerless after Dean Smith left to manage elsewhere and the short term manager was sacked after making them drop from play off contenders to mid table.
I was brought in expecting to finish around 10th, in January of 2017 (3rd Season) I am now 3rd in the league (3 points from automatic), I hit every other target (FA Cup 3rd round, League Cup 2nd round and the JPT didn't matter) and my job is very secure. I am hoping to make a push for automatic promotion spots currently occupied by Rotherham (7 points clear at the top) and Sheffield United (3 points ahead of me).
Jan 2015- Sutton United
This game had a different idea, it was to take a player who was a club legend at my favourite club and turn them into a world class manager using their credentials and then starting off as a new manager at the lowest level and working up. For those who have read my stuff before this is the Wacka game. Jimmy Walker is a Walsall legend, the biggest Walsall legend and I wanted to turn him into a managerial legend.
The idea is to start off unemployed and start from the bottom. I did have offers from league teams but wanted to start off in the non-league. I was employed by Sutton United on 22/10/2014 and they were struggling towards the bottom of the table. I have started well with 10 wins from 19 games in all competitions. I had a 9 game unbeaten run in all competitions including 6 wins. I have been scoring goals (40 goals scored since taking over) and kept a strong back line (conceded 28).
I have turned their season around, I am in the 3rd round of the FA Trophy with a game against Whitehawk coming up to make the 4th round (expected to reach second round). I was knocked out in the final round of qualifying for the FA Cup when I was expected to make the first round but the bored weren't too concerned with that. I am currently sitting in 11th in the league, 4 points off the play offs but with at least a game in hand on everybody above me (3 games in hand on some, 2 on most). Winning the 3 games in hand could put me 2nd in the league.
I have a strong squad but issues with contracts with some players wanting to leave for league football. I expect to continue a push for the play offs this season. If I don't make promotion then the next option is to stay and make promotion or leave for a league club.
Aug 2014- Orlando City
This is a tough game, you have no games for the first 6 months but you have a strong squad. My aim for the first 6 months is to play weekly friendlies to keep the squad fit and to develop young players. They have a lot of young players who when developed could be world class and then they have a few older players like Kaka.
The aim is to turn them into an MLS powerhouse and develop a young squad. Once that has been achieved I will have to move on to become a world class manager. The biggest challenge is to make it to the first season and keep interested as it can be quite boring.
July 2014- Blackpool
This is a game that is about survival. Blackpool are a club in turmoil. They have no money, problems with the squad and awful facilities. The first season your aim in the league is to avoid relegation, doing this will probably keep your job (other goals are FA Cup 3rd round and League Cup 2nd round). They don't have an awful squad, in real life the turmoil is overruling the squad and they are all but relegated now but on the game they have a squad that could challenge for play off spots with a few additions.
I want to keep them in the championship in my first season then rebuild the club. I want to make my second season about a play off push if it doesn't happen in the first and I want to concentrate on rebuilding the facilities at the club. There are a few key players who I will have to focus on keeping but other than that the focus will be on development and free signings.
July 2014- Rostock
In the German 3rd division, Rostock are a team with an average squad. The board expect nothing but mid-table in the first season and this is something easily achievable. The big upside to Rostock are the facilities. All facilities are great and this is the base of the club. My aim in the first season is to use these facilities (training and youth) to develop a strong push for the top 3.
The worst player in the senior squad is 2* 20 year old and 23 year old. There is one player above the age of 30 who is probably a backup left back. There isn't a single usable player in the Rostock 2 and Under 19's squad who is worse than 1* and developing these quickly will help for a push.
This is a long term game with hopes of pushes to the Bundesliga and developing one of the best young squads in the world. With strong facilities the focus can be on management and not having to build the club up. It is a game that is the opposite of the Blackpool game above.
Thanks!
Would love opinions on all these and feel free to make comments and ask questions. Currently been playing the Walsall career most but I am going to start playing others (Blackpool or Sutton ones most likely but also want to look at the Rostock game) soon as I am getting a bit bored of the Walsall one.
