ERROR: Cannot run game: Failed to set up graphics system

Please download the following update from the Microsoft Direct X SDK:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

When downloading this file please use the Firefox browser as some people have encounter difficulties when using Internet Explorer.

You should also check that you are running the latest graphics driver, you can do this by visiting the computer manufacturer website, or by visiting the graphics card manufacturing website.

Also if you are running Steam, make sure this is not running when attempting to install

I have an SiS Graphics Card and it won't work:

We had large issues with these cards for FM2009, however since then there has been a solution.

If you update the drivers to VGA5.18 - http://majorgeeks.com/SiS_UniVGA5_Graphics_d5611.html (which was released in July this year),
turn the detail in game down to ‘Low’ and we suggest slowing the match speed down to one notch under half-way.

After installing some Custom Graphics I'm now having errors!

If after experiencing game errors and crashes after adding custom graphics and / or logos to the game, please ensure you have not placed these custom files in your 'Sports Interactive' folder found in 'Program Files'

ALL custom graphics need to go into your 'Sports Interactive' folder found in 'My Documents'

C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\Sports Interactive\FM10

I'm getting a message that says: "Direct Sound error -2004287480" when entering a match.

First ensure both your sound card drivers and Direct X are up to date.

Sound drivers for your system can be found on your system manufacturers website. For links to various manufacturers please see the following answer – Common system websites

Direct X can be updated via:
Web installer - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Or
Full distributable - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

If after updating your drivers you still receive the error message, disable in game sound.

To disable sound:
- Go to the Preferences screen ('Options' -> 'Preferences').
- Go to the 'Display & Sound' section.
- In the 'Sound Settings' area, deselect 'Play Sounds' and confirm your changes.

I am getting a “saAuditMD.dll missing” error.

This error often occurs because people copy or cut their FM.exe directly to the desktop

Do not do this, always create a 'shortcut' and cut that to your desktop
To create a desktop shortcut
Navigate to the FM10 installation folder (location XP and Vista)
- Right click on the FM10.exe icon
- Choose Send to Desktop (create shortcut)

When trying to run the Editor I get a "application failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect" error

Download and install this Microsoft update –
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

In the preferences it says my graphics card is five-star, yet the match engine is running jerky - what's going on?

We’re aware of an issue in regards to the star system which doesn't always show correctly - we would suggest if you find 3D is running jerky to put it on the lowest setting and try running the game without the crowd loaded.

I get the message " d3dx9_41.dll not found"

If you receive this message, update to the latest version of DirectX available from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US...s/directx.aspx

If you continue to have issues with DirectX, there are further links below:

DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Or for the full package

DirectX End-User Runtimes (August 2009)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...1-442d8712d553

If neither of these works, some people have reported success downloading from the following site:

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dl...shtml?d3dx9_41

After you have downloaded this file, use an Unzip-application (such as WinZip or WinRar) to select the dll-file and extract it to your system directory and into the FM10 installation folder:

System directory by default

XP
C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP).

Vista and 7

Computer\Local Disk (C) \ Windows \ System32 part 2 of 4 i thnk lol
