August update

With Pre-Season going very well with 6 wins from 6 games. The Premier League kicks off with West Ham and Man City away followed by Portsmouth at home. Saunt has a clear mind of which would be his preferred starting XI.

August has been a rather successful month with the team getting into the 3rd round of the League Cup with new signing Romelu Lukaku bagging 2 goals on his debut.
The Premier League season kicked off with 2 wins and 2 draws which is a good return on points despite being dissapointed with the 1-1 draw at Eastlands.
Niko Kranjcar came on as substitute to nod home in the 83rd minute only for Benoit Assou-Ekotto to put a Gareth Barry cross into his own net.
Our first home match against Portsmouth was also on the dissapointing side after going 1-0 down the Spurs players did little to effect the game until late on when Crouch won a penalty and then get up, brush himself down and then put David James the wrong way.

---------- Post added at 03:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:07 AM ----------

good start, what are your aims though?

My Aims -
Premier League - 4th
and a final either in the League Cup or FA Cup. Quarter-Finals in either being minimum expectation.

I have played quite far into the first season so a couple more replies will be added soon.

September update

A couple of tactical items have impressed me during August and September is the amount of clean-sheets that Gomes has been getting which is particually pleasing. I have also found a useful way of shutting out games with Saivet and Salvio coming on as substitutes. Playing 1 as MR and the other as AMR taking off a striker and leaving 1 striker LF. Then place both Saivet and Salvio as run with ball - often. They then pass between themselves and waste time keeping the ball in the opponents half whilst also creating a few chances.

SEPTEMBER RESULTS
Fulham 0 - 2 Tottenham
Defoe 2

Tottenham 2 - 0 Bolton
Jenas, Defoe. (Crouch INJ)

League Cup 3rd Round
Tottenham 2 - 2 Man City (Man City win 3-2 on Pens)
Defoe, Assou-Ekotto. (King OFF)

Liverpool 3 - 0 Tottenham

September brang 2 more valuable early season wins before a couple of dissapointing outcomes.
Assou-Ekotto, Naughton and Huddlestone all missed penalty kicks in a cruel blow to the clubs ambitions. Chris Saunt is quoted as saying ''I am very annoyed as i thought this was a winnable competition''
Just after the League Cup defeat came Liverpool at Anfield. Despite a resilient performance for most of the game the Spurs players fell short in a 3-0 loss. 2 Early goals from Yossi Benayoun and 1 more from Fernando Torres had Liverpool 3 goals to the good inside 16 minutes. A pleasing responce from the players after though, finishing the game with a host of chances but it wasnt going to be our day.

OCTOBER RESULTS
Tottenham 4 - 2 Burnley
Huddlestone, Keane, Defoe 2

Tottenham 1 - 0 Sunderland
Defoe

Birmingham 0 - 1 Tottenham
Keane

Tottenham 1 - 3 Man Utd
Salvio

3 more wins for the Tottenham faithful. Good times at White Hart Lane with only 1 loss this month. Manchester United were back to their best after some poor results to see off Spurs but Eduardo Salvio scored his first goal for the club which was 1 positive to take from the game.
8 wins now in League and Cup. Only losses against Liverpool and Man Utd in the Premier League. Goals coming from all areas of the team and performances look good.

SCOUT UPDATE
Marco Verratti is now co-owned by Fiorentina. With money in the bank i am sending scouts to every game he has and i think i will splash the cash in january to get his name on my Tottenham roster.

NOVEMBER RESULTS
Hull 1 - 1 Tottenham
Salvio. (Bale INJ)

Tottenham 4 - 0 Stoke
Lennon, Modric, Defoe, Crouch. (Modric INJ)

Chelsea 3 - 0 Tottenham

1 of each then in November.
1 win which was a smashing home match against Stoke City. They looked all over the place at the back and Tottenham made the most of it, banging in 4 goals of the finest quality.
1 draw - A drab 0-0 looked on the cards until Nathan Doyle scored a penalty in 89th minute. Staring defeat in the face wonderkid Eduardo Salvio grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and equalised deep into injury time to devestate the Tigers. (Salvio 90+2)
With November being an international month, injuries will obviously come. Gomes injured his back whilst on international duty with Brazil which ment Carlo Cudicini would get a chance between the sticks for the Stoke and Chelsea games.
The Tottenham squad had their first fierce rival match of the season which ended in a poor 3-0 defeat leaving the fans heart-broken. Much like the Liverpool game earlier on in the season they did let Chelsea know they were in a game but early goals abolish any hopes of a result.

What a month. Ups and downs. Particually irating is the loss against arch rivals Arsenal at the Emirates. The Spurs lads done themselves proud fighting back from 2-0 down just before half-time only for Walcott to score to put Spurs 3-2 down at the back. Despite banging on the door for 3-3 it didnt come and Arsenal had won. 2 fierce rivals derbies lost out of 2 now.

Aaron Lennon has been on absolutely sensational form this month. With Modric being injured since i informed you on a previous post. Lennon has really stepped up to the plate. 2 goals and countless assists have him in line for Player of the Month.

RECCOMMENDATION!
Oliver Bierhoff - What a scout he is. I have put his scouting assignment to roaming Central Europe for U20's. Couple of really good scouts which include Pablo Piatti who ive known from previous football managers. But the one that has really caught my eye is Valencia left winger Jordi Alba. 20 year old, looks very good i think. Take a look ...

SCOUT UPDATE
Petter Rudi has reported from his Scandanavia assignment and come up with Mathias Jorgensen. A young center-half who is also on the tall side. With his potential i rekon i could use him as cover and sell Jonothan Woodgate to free up some wages.

A massive shock in the FA Cup as Sheffield Wednesday knock out Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur. Saunt said ''I am very annoyed as i thought this was a winnable competition''
So no league cup final for Spurs and now out of the FA Cup both at the 3rd round stage.
A memorable game was witnessed at White Hart Lane with Tottenham thumping Liverpool 3-1. Earlier in the season at Anfield The Reds banged in 3 within 16 minutes but that wasnt to happen again this time. Woodgate nodded home to put Spurs off to a great start. Just before the half hour mark, Defoe was brought down in the box and the ref pointed to the spot. Luka Modric dispatched the penalty and Tottenham were on track for victory. Steven Gerrard put a stop to that when he got one back before half time. Spurs came out the blocks fling in the second half and Jermain Defoe found himself 1on1 with Pepe Reina on 56 minutes and he remained composed to score Tottenham 3rd.
Tottenham are now firmly in contention for Champions League football for 2010/11.

The Lilywhites are now 6 pts ahead of 5th placed Everton.

MARCH RESULTS
Man Utd 3 - 4 Tottenham
Huddlestone, Defoe 3

Tottenham 2 - 1 Hull
Pavlyuchenko, Modric. (Pavlyuchenko missed Pen)

Stoke 2 - 2 Tottenham
Crouch, Lennon

Tottenham Hotspur have now extended there unbeaten run in the Premier League to 14 games. A magnificent win at Old Trafford kicked off the month and Jermain Defoe was extremely happy with his super hat-trick. 20 goals for him now.
A thrilling encounter at the Brittainia Stadium was the last word in March. A win for Spurs should have been expected after the 4-0 win in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane but that wasnt to be. Stoke corners caused particular problems all match with Ryan Shawcross getting a good head on goal on a few accasions. But it was Mama Sidibe who headed home on 72 minutes for Stoke to take the lead. Changes were made which saw Peter Crouch come on and just 6 minutes later he levelled for Tottenham. 1-1 then away at Stoke, good result? I would say so but a massive twist when Ricardo Fuller broke through to score in injury time (90+2) against Spurs' 3 man defence as they pushed for a winner. 4 minutes were allicated for time added on but 6 minutes into it Sorensen dropped a cross and Aaron Lennon pounced as if he had been a poacher all his career. 2-2, lucky escape for the north londoners.

Wigan 0 - 3 Tottenham

Blackburn 0 - 1 Tottenham
Bale

A floated free-kick from Gareth Bale ended up in Paul Robinson's net at Ewood Park to put Spurs dreaming of a Premier League title. Tottenham's loss at Chelsea could prove pivital though as Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea all remain above Tottenham in a tight league table.
Two games remain for ambitious Tottenham. Arsenal at White Hart Lane and then Aston Villa away. May is certainly going to be an exciting month.

SQUAD, LEAGUE AND TRANSFER SHOTS WILL BE PUT UP NEXT UPDATE!

Nice sining of Verratti, he becomes great.I would recommend players such as Kryvtsov, Otamendi, Diego Renan, Franco Zuculini, Axel Witsel and Diego Buonanotte as they are all performing exceptionally on my tottenham side. :) Good luck.

Thanks mate. I have heard alot about that Otamendi, Im going to start scouting him and indeed the rest of those players, Renan, Witsel and Buonanotte ive heard of before so will look at them and as for Zuculini and Kryvtsov i have never heard of so im in for a lesson there lol. I rekon i need another Striker. Defoe is the business but Keano, Crouch and Pav are lazy to say the least. Dont mind Crouch though, hes a great player to have.

Season Summary
Premier League - 4th
League Cup - 3rd Round
FA Cup - 3rd Round

A very successful season in the Premier League finishing 4th and Jermain Defoe winning 3rd place in the Top Goalscorers. A Champions League finish is brilliant as it indicates moving foward. A target that hes been pursued by many previous managers of Tottenham Hotspur in years gone by. Luka Modric also had a good season with getting in the EPL Division Select as a Substitute.

Domestic competitions have been poor. Improvements in the League and FA Cups are definately required next season.

The signings Tottenham have made have been particually pleasing. Starting with Henri Saivet who was a loan signing did contribute a few things to the team which was the helping of closing out games as an impact sub bagging 2 goals. Eduardo Salvio wasnt as good as i expected but did well for his first season in the Premier League. Romelu Lukaku was the best of the signings. Scoring 3 goals in Cup competitions and some promising performances in the EPL. Marco Verratti signed in January and made 10 sub appearances but didnt get any assists or goals but connected up play very well. Close to Lukaku for best signing was Leandro Grimi. Signed in January and made 10 starts during the running. Solid at the back and bombing down the left flank, he was a super buy.

Fans Player of the Year - Jermain Defoe

Wigan 1 - 0 Tottenham

A positive start to the campaign. The qualification to the Champions League went less than smoothly to say the least with Lokomotiv Moscow scoring first and left Spurs chasing through out. It was all wrapped up when a Gareth Bale free-kick went in late on and substitute Peter Crouch making sure in stoppage time. 1 negative though came in the away defeat to Wigan which could have seen Spurs win all the opening games.
The Lilywhites will need all hands on deck with fixture congestion springing up already with the League Cup getting underway.

The Champions League draw could have been better for Spurs but the 3rd seeds will face up against some competitive opponents to say the least which could be viewed as something to look foward too.

Great signings there mate. Riquelme, Otamendi, Sandro and Jo are all quality.
I agree with you on Keane and Pav.. Crouch is a nice sub though, because he can mess up the opp defense with his height and heading. Jermain Defoe is great, especially when i started playing him as a poacher along with Oscar Cardozo as a targetman. They scored +25 goals both in my first season.

Nice story, keep on the good work.

A very poor September for Tottenham in the Premier League. After the loss against Wigan last month, Sunderland managed do the same the very next game after. Manchester United scored a an 88th minute equaliser from Wayne Rooney. And then Villa's trip to White Hart Lane. Shocking defending from Tottenham ment they were 2-0 down at Half-Time. After the hair dryer treatment from manager Chris Saunt the side went out and then Gabi Agbonlahor added to the scoreline. 3-0 down with 20 minutes left surely a comback wouldnt come. Peter Crouch off the bench once again to start the comeback of the season so far. Riquelme was then getting the ball more and made the most of it scoring twice in the last 10 minutes to rescue a point to Spurs.
Extra Time was needed against championship side Portsmouth but Spurs came through via Jermain Defoe.
The results in the Champions League are truly outstanding. 2-0 down in Turkey against Galatasaray and then Jo stupidly recieved a straight red and 3 match ban. Up till this game Jermain Defoe hadnt scored all season but then popped up with 3 beauties inside 15 minutes. Riquelme then finished the game giving Spurs a 2 goal lead.

Tottenham are starting games at half-time. Inspired comebacks are being triggered but dropping vital points in the league. This cant go on much longer otherwise Spurs' luck will run out.

I have no money to buy anyone but really want to sign Edin Dzeko. £17.5m needed. Im going to look to start Nicolas Otamendi in some more matches after some very successful sub appearances, Kevin Bond thinks he should start with Sebastian Bassong rather than Ledley King.

Brazilian defensive midfielder Sandro won the Young Player of the Month trophy.

Transfers Out
Corluka and Modric was pursued by Manchester United with Spurs rejecting several bids for the pair which would have saw Tottenham's bank bolster to the sum of £40m. As was the case for Lennon (£17m) which could have saw him off to Spainish side Barcelona. Bassong wasnt allowed to Real Madrid for £8m and Huddlestone to Liverpool for the same price.
Several deals did go through though all loan moves.

END OF THE MONTH
Not the best month. Defeat in the Champions League but through in the FA Cup. 2 wins in the league but individual errors creaping in. A little rest for some players i think is required.
MORE AWARDS
The signing of Sandro for £10m from Internacional was questioned by the media stating it as a risk. Chris Saunt played that down when he signed and Sandro has really took the English game in his stride. Only 1 goal but its his defensive attributes in midfield that really impresses when ever he takes to the field. The month of Febuary 2011 has saw him scoop the same award he won last month. Young Player of the Month. Can he make it 3?

The March of 2011

FA Cup 6th Round
Reading 0 - 0 Tottenham
Dissapointing draw but glad to take them back to White Hart Lane

Champions League Match Day 8
AC Milan v Tottenham Hotspur
After being 3-0 down after the first leg this match promised to be either the most astonishing of comebacks or a great experience for the Tottenham players and fans alike. Thousands of fans have made the trip from North London and those who haven't been able to get a ticket have filled the pubs, clubs and bars of Milan. A roar of approximately 70,000 people packed in the ground can be heard as the superstars make the way onto the pitch.
Tottenham started the match very well, passing the ball around well and creating a number of early chances. It took only 9 minutes until they made one count and the man to do so was Jermain Defoe finishing off a great fluid Spurs move. Tottenham fans couldn't believe their eyes when just 11 minutes later they doubled their lead on the night to two, Jermain Defoe snapping up a chance again. 3-2 on aggergate now and Spurs could may just do this what was saw as an impossible task. That seemed to spark Milan into creating some chances but Gomes was more than equal to their efforts.
Spurs made it to half-time without conceding and started the second much the way they started the first but only testing the keeper from distance. AC Milan broke when Spurs had commited bodies foward and Ronaldinho scored a low shot from 25 yards. 4-2 Milan now on aggregate.
But Spurs headed straight up the otherend and one of those earlier efforts from distance came around with Modric and Riquelme linking up, Defoe got involved and cracked his shot against the crossbar.
The next goal would be crucial in this game ...
5 live commentary: Long ball to Lennon whose been hugging the touchline all game, chests down, runs at the full-backs, cuts inside, commits another defender, slides it through, AND ITS IN, JERMAIN DEFOE SMASHES IT IN, HAT-TRICK HERO! SPURS ARE BACK IN THIS MATCH ONCE AGAIN. ITS 4-3 ON AGGREGATE NOW, ONE MORE WILL SEND THEM THROUGH.
The Italian giants then started playing nervously but Daniele Bonera broke down the right and whipped a ball in. Alexandre Pato who had earlier been denied through the linesmen was unmarked in the box and rise and direct the cross into Gomes' net. A great header, 5-3 (Agg).
AC Milan then shut up shot and Spurs could not find a way through. It was a brave effort from Spurs but they had just been beating despite winning on the night.
AC Milan 2 - 3 Tottenham
AC Milan win 5-3 on Agg
(Defoe 3)

Premier League
Tottenham 4 - 4 Chelsea
(Defoe 2, Lennon, Otamendi)
A great result after the Champions League exit. Otamendi's 1st goal
-RECORD- Highest scoring game
-RECORD - Highest scoring league game

FA Cup 6th Round Replay
Tottenham 3 - 1 Reading
(Lennon, Kallio(OG), Jenas. (Bassong OFF))
And the Spurs go marching on! ... in the FA Cup
-RECORD- Poorest Discipline - S.Bassong (10 Yellows, 2 Reds)

Tottenham club captain Ledley King has told Chris Saunt that he thinks Spurs are underachieving.
Saunt responded by asking King to set up a team meeting with the players and to do discuss the issue.
King reports that the team meeting has gone very well with everyone contributing and really gelling together. He also thinks results should follow as now everyone is pulling together to try and get that vital Champions League spot once again.

Premier League
Bolton 0 - 1 Tottenham
(Modric)
Great result. Lets hope i can push on from here

END OF THE MONTH
A record breaking month. 1 for Bassong which is not one to shout about. However a decent one for Highest scoring game and league game. Otamendi scored his first goal late on to ****** a very respectable point. The most pleasing record was the first appearance in the Champions League. I could have just as easily gone further on another day but it wasnt to be.
The targets i set myself at the begining of the season are now complete apart from the Premier League target of 4th but that is still possible with 8 games left. Also i am in with a shout of winning the FA Cup if i get past Man City in the Semi-Final at Wembley.

APRIL RESULTS
April would determine if Spurs had any chance of finishing in the 4th Champions League spot for the 2nd year running but it didn't start well

Premier League
Tottenham 0 - 1 Man City

Should Spurs have won this match it would have seen them leap-frog Man City into 4th spot with Man City having a few games in hand but it didn't happen. An abysmal effort in this game but would a win in the FA Cup against Man City again see them win a place in the final against Liverpool

FA Cup Semi-Final
Tottenham 2 - 0 Man City
(Defoe, Sandro)

A total transformation. A 2-0 win at Wembley and Tottenham had done it. A final appearance against Liverpool to the delight of the Spurs fans. Now concentration would be firmly be on the Premier League results to see how high they could finish.

Premier League
Tottenham 2 - 2 West Ham
(Defoe 2)

2-0 down at home to rivals West Ham sparked Jermain Defoe to score 2 goals against the side where he made his name to win Spurs a point. Despite the result this has to be saw as 2 vital points dropped.

Premier League
Wolves 3 - 1 Tottenham
(Modric)

Another 3 points dropped after Luka Modric had put them in a winning position. 1-1 going into the last 5 minutes Tottenham commited players foward to grab the win but it had the reserve effect as Wolves scored 2 in the dieing minutes.

END OF THE MONTH
A final confirmed in the FA Cup but shocking results in the league. A poor start to the season looks to be a poor finish with only three games left in the league.

MAY RESULTS

Premier League
Liverpool 2 - 1 Tottenham
(Modric)

Simply not good enough. A winning position yet again scupperd. An easier couple of games now with Cardiff and Hull.

Premier League
Tottenham 3 - 0 Cardiff
(Defoe, Jenas, Bale)

A win to end the season at White Hart Lane. A performance to go with it and 3 points that would certainly help boost the chase which now stands for the Europa League.

Premier League
Hull 1 - 1 Tottenham
(Otamendi)

End of the season, Spurs yet again throw away a win for a dismal draw. A 9th placed finish in the Premier League and now The FA Cup is the only chance Spurs have to gain European football.

AWARD FOR GARETH BALE
A brilliant season personally for Gareth Bale which has seen him cap it off with the welsh full-back winning Young Player of the year. Delfouneso and Rodwell came 2nd and 3rd respectively.
DEFOE 3rd IN GOLDEN BOOT
The Champions League brang some inspired performances for Jermain Defoe with the highlight being a hat-trick at the San Siro. Fabrizio Miccoli won 1st place in this award with 9 goals. Drogba came 2nd.

SAUNT REACHES TON FOR TOTTENHAM
Current manager Chris Saunt will celebrate his 100th game in charge at Tottenham Hotspur when his team play Liverpool in the FA Cup Final.
TOTTENHAM HUNT FA CUP GLORY
Eight-times FA Cup Winners Tottenham Hotspur head into the Final against Liverpool looking to record their 1st victory since 1991. Liverpool will also be looking to win their 8th FA Cup.

Really frustating heart-break at Wembley for Tottenham. They will need to wait to see if they will win the european place but chances are slim after being 9th as well.

A really poor ending to my 2nd season in charge. I am considering quitting my position as Manager as everything as gone poorly this year. Back to square 1 for Chris Saunt.

Summer News from White Hart Lane
It has been a busy summer of news at Tottenham news and announcements. First of all is that the stadium is under construction with the capacity being increased by 5500 seats. The estimated cost of the build will be in the region of £7.37m and will take approximately 4 months to complete.
With the season ending and the new one waiting to begin attention turned to the international fixture and Spurs right-winger, Aaron Lennon scored his first internation goal for England. He netted a goal against Greece and thanks Fabio Capello for having faith with him and promised more good performances in the future.
The European Club Ranking were announced an Tottenham improved their ranking by 15 places taking them to 19th position. Chelsea topped the table moving up from 2nd position last year. And the moved improved club when to Valerenga who moved from 237th to 135th in the table.
Pat Jennings set a date for his retirement which will see him hanging up his coaching boots at the end of the season. Jimmy Walker who is a back-up keeper at Spurs will also retire at the end of the season.
Tottenham have also signed a new main kit sponsorship deal. The new deal will be worth an estimated £2.7m per annum. The previous deal was only £1m per annum.

The link with San Jose Earthquake's was terminated and in other News Kevin Bond, Chris Saunt's assistant manager, has left the club after Tottenham didnt meet his wage demands. Pre-Season News
The aim in reducing the wage bill has gone very well. Along with selling players to raise money, the board allowed around £10m more for budget. I now have accumulated £19m to spend and have £203k availible for wages. Unfortnately i havn't found any suitible targets to buy. Many refuse to join a club without European football. I have found some regen targets who are both just 16. I'll release some information about them in later posts.
Gomes, Dawson and King signed new contracts that see him take pay-cuts. Oyenuga, Lancaster, McBride, Pritchard, Waller-Lassen and Fredericks were all released at the end of last season. Also i have released, Durojaiye, Archer, Tapping and Butcher.
