I am 6 games into my second season as Hull City manager (playing on the latest patch) and am struggling. I had a great first season and only narrowly missed out on a European place, finishing 9th. My squad is as follows;

Gk : Boaz Myhill, Alex Smithies

Def: Cesar Azpilicueta, Asier Del Horno, Sergiy Kryvstov, Alex Hammell, Anthony Gardner, Kamil Zayatte, Ricardo Costa

Midfield: Kevin Kilbane, Richard Hughes, Jimmy Bullard, Juan Roman Riquelme, Ferrie Bodde, Ruben de la Red, Geovanni, Stephen Hunt, Diego Buonanotte

Strikers: Yannick Djalo, Javier Chevanton, Guillermo Franco

When building this squad I thought I had assembled a good mix of youth and experience, flair and grit, speed and power, and had hopes of challenging for Europe but one thing is letting me down; tactics. In the first season I experimented with 4-5-1, 4-3-3 and most successfully a 4-1-2-3-1 employing four attack minded players, but this season I cannot seem to find the right formation or tactics to win games, I am 13th after 6 games having won 2 drawn 0 lost 4 and nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated, and any players I could add or remove would be great as well. Is this squad good enough to achieve success?

My observations after trying with Bolton in the EPL (i finished 6th and 3rd in two consecutive seasons)
Firstly, you might need a physically strong forward....helps a lot in the premier league (like Kevin Davies, ALmeida etc). This is even important because Djalo is very good when played as poacher/advanced fwd and so u need a target man or deep lying creative fwd.
Your midfield is pretty good ....try a 4-5-1 tactic
Myhill (GK)
Del Horno Zayatte Gardner Costa
Bullard De La Red
Giovanni Riquelme Hunt
Djalo
And if u haven't tried the 'fluid' tactic, try it..it should work well for the squad u have. And if u can afford a physically strong target man, shift to 442 and enjoy. Hope it helped!
