Newcastle United in Champions League

I am just wondering for my General Knowledge if someone can tell me if Newcastle has advanced farther than Champions League Groups (including the old ECC).

I did, but I haven't found nothing else than 2003, when they were in Groups, but also I found that they had 3 participations in CL.

Furthest we've made it was to the second group stage in 02-03, Barca and Inter progressed from our group with Leverkusen in 4th place and 0 points

We've only been in the actual Champions League twice, this third time must have been the qualifying for 03-04 where we lost out to Belgrade

Alright, thanks for the informations, I heard that Newcastle have been in the semi-finals, found a thread on Wikipedia, but haven't found any Newcastle there, so I was wondering why it ain't there, that's why I asked you. semi finals was probably the old UEFA Cup in early 2000's, we got beat by Marseille or Sporting Lisbon if i remember right (think it was Lisbon, Marseille may have beaten us on away goals in Interoto Cup the following year). Pretty sure Hugo Viana cost us the game by sending a 40 yard pass towards our defence from attacking midfield. (someone correct me or back me up)

In terms of CL we reached the second stage at least once. We are the only team in CL history to lose the first three group games and still qualify for the next round. Won the last three games and bellamy scored in injury time of our last game to send us through. beat Feyenoord 3 v 2

It was Marseille who beat us in the UEFA Cup Semi-Final 99.99999999999999999999999% positive and pretty sure we got through to second round under Sir Bobby as we became the first team to lose their first 3 games, then win the next 3 and get through, in doing so we beat Juventus 1-0 (Andy Griffin got the goal!) Dynamo Kiev and somebody else who at this moment in time I can't remember!

I think i am right here, Did a certain Craig Bellamy score the winner in Turin that year. to make you qualify.
