I was thinking about FC Bayern and Germany, how FC Bayern's fullbacks are capable of entering the midfield and adding another body and skill to the middle of the park. I was also thinking About how Germany does not have fullbacks but they have good players in every spot, so I thought about if Schurrle could fit in as a fake LB and cut inside to add more numbers in the middle of the pitch. I started then to think about, what if the fullbacks contribute in the middle of the pitch rather than just wait out wide or try to overlap?
It made me think about making a tactic, however I am not that good at making tactics so I would like some input from the community here as there are many who knew a lot about what can and can't work.
4-3-3 Attacking. Fast Tempo. High Defensive Line.
Both fullbacks are inverted wingbacks, their pace and defensive mindedness would be useful as they could hunt the ball if the enemy retakes possession and restart the team's play. However, there are 2 central midfielders who have that space, so what we do is we make the central midfielders go out wide, like wide playmakers. We have 2 fast wingers who will cut inside because the width is already being handled by the central midfielders. Wingers work perfectly with a deep striker or a false 9 who can pull the centerbacks forward and leave space for the wingers to cut inside. Now out attacking midfielder would be a key passer and be working with the wide midfielders, the deep striker, and the 2 fullbacks behind him.
On paper the formation would be like this:
--------ST--------
LW-----CAM----RW
------CM--CM-----
LWB--CB--CB--RWB
--------GK---------
In theory, it would become this:
-----LW------RW-----
CM----CAM--ST----CM
----LWB------RWB----
--------CB---CB------
----------GK----------
This would mean that once the team has possession of the ball far up the pitch, it would have 2 players trying to play through the defensive line with 4 creative players behind them ready to pass the ball forward, wide, or diagonal. Triangles and/or diamond passing would be used. The CB's would also be playing with the ball high up and would be given the ball if things get too tight so that the play can be restarted.
If the LW has the ball he will move forward, with the CAM behind him and the ST taking the CAM's spot, creating a dynamic diamond with both wingers, CAM, and ST.
*The CAM and ST dont have to be left and right. the ST can be on the left and the CAM on the right. It just depends where the CAM is at the time when the ST drops deep to help the play.
In FM16 perhaps the roles and duties would be as following.
----------F9----------
IF(A)----AP(S)----IF(A)
-----CM(S)-CM(S)-----
IWB(S)--BPD-BPD--IWB(S)
----------SK(S)----------
Both CM's set to play wide, AP set to drift through channels.
Any comments or corrections? I haven't tried it yet, I want to improve the tactic in theory so that it is solid first and then perfect it in game.
