Laptop broke last night, was 4 years into another save, is there any way I can retrieve the data from my steam account or what not?

do you save to the cloud or laptop? game files are just .fm files they can be moved like tactics.

Yes you can transfer cloud or local saves easily. Go into your FM folder and find saves. If you can not get onto that laptop at all now then that means you can not get local saves back, unless you saved to cloud.

I think it was probably saved to the laptop, don't know how to set it up to the cloud. Oh well, suppose i'll just need to take Pompy back to the Prem... again!

When you save it has the option of local or cloud. I assume the cloud saves to your steam. Not sure.

It's not strictly true if the laptop is broken that you cannot get your saved games back, as long as the hard drive is ok you should still be able to reclaim your saves. It will however, require the hard drive from the broken machine being removed and connected directly to the new machine (effectively making it an external drive). I've had to do this in the past and it worked fine. Removing a hard drive is not as difficult as you may think as long as the old laptop is not a sealed unit ie it doesn't have any screws on the back. If you do have screws just undo them and remove the back. Then you can unplug the hard drive. To connect to the new machine you will need to get the correct adapter(lead connector) or a external drive case from a computer shop these are reasonably cheap. Once the drive is connected to the new machine it will show up as a new drive on your drive list. All you need to do then is find your saved games and copy in to the saved game folder on the new machine.
