Attempting to emulate Jurgen Klopps tactics, however results just aren't going well, conceding quite a lot and not scoring enough.

I have PI's on:
SK- Pass it shorter, distribute to centre backs and roll it out
WB's- stay wider
CD's- pass it shorter
BWM and DLP- mark tighter
All 3 attacking midfielders- roam from position and mark tighter

Can anyone see what i'm doing wrong here or how i can improve?
help would be much appreciated

I'm far from being a good manager but i'm using a very similar tactic which i'm still improving so this can useful for us both.
I see in your tactic:

- Too many TIs, an some of them are useless and/or wrong.
- Higher tempo results in lower passing accuracy. I would remove it and set more direct passing instead if you want fast transitions from defense to attack.
- Your mentality is counter. Why did you set fairly narrow width? Counter means narrow shape for itself. I would set balanced.
- Slightly higher line i think is good because reduces space between defense and midfield which using this tactic is quite big.
- Closing down much more. I can't help you here. I'm fixing it on my tactic also.
- Tight marking and get stuck in i think is ok.
- Remove play out the defense and work ball into box. These orders result on slowing down your tempo.
- Remove look for overlap. You have wb that overlap without setting this TI.
- Crosses. I can't help you here. I'm fixing it on my tactic also.

Roles and duties
- WB. I would change it to fb-at. You are too open at back and with fb-at you will be more solid and still will be dangerous overlapping.
- Change bwm-de to bwm-su and dlp-su to dlp-de. Bwm will provide you forward runs and will close down the opponent higher which is something you want to. Dlp-de will hold your midfield and will stay deep while attacking so he'll be able to offer another passing option back.
- Change Ap-at. An Ap slows down your counters because your players will pass him the ball instead of going fast forward. Maybe a ss or something. I still don't know which role use here but i'm sure an ap must be removed.
- I don't like IF, but that's only my opinion. In fact, an if there must help you to finish crosses coming from right side.

Player instructions.
- Sk: this orders only slow down. I would remove them.
- Wb. On the left side is ok because you have an if who will come narrower but in the right side you have a winger who also stays wide so you have 2 players in the same place.
- Bwm. I think he is enough aggressive so i would remove mark tighter.

Let me know if something changed.

I use a similar tactic formation wise for my Southampton game, except I play Wanyama back in Defensive Midfield instead of CM. I however play with a fast tempo, attacking mentality and use full-backs instead of wingbacks. Cedric has had loads of assists from full-back.

I also find Rodriguez scores more and plays much better as an AML - IF with Pellé or Shane Long up front in the first season.

Thanks mate will try those tweaks out, what do you think of my shape, I'm going to try structured to try and get them to play as a unit better?

Yeah i have bought another striker now anyway and i will try wanyama in DM, thanks for the help mate.

Sorry but can't help you anymore. Every tactic i create works for around 20 games and then i only start losing so best for you will be not to follow my advice.

Best luck

Attempting to emulate Jurgen Klopps tactics...
What exactly does this mean? What was the plan with the tactic?

The AMC in a 4-2-3-1 is crucial to get 'right' as he will link (what is supposed to be a holding) midfield and the attackers. An AP/A will come get the ball and then dribble at pace, looking for through balls/risky passes. Who are his targets, do you think?

Also, why did you choose Counter as a Mentality? Looking at your TIs, it's not really what you're after at all?
