Who are the best players in the game for a CM Defend role?
They can be any price... expensive or cheap doesn't matter.

Michael Keane(new Terry),De Vrij,Dragovic,Stones,Zouma!This is cheaters in defend!(H)

I trained Ajer as a CM-D, he was a beast in few seasons.

Is Kramer a good CM - Defend? Looking at him for my ath madrid save.
 
Lars Bender, Wanyama, Pogba, Marchisio, Vidal, Kante, Koke, leon goretzka, sergi sampi, Busquets, Verrati, pierre-emile hojbjerg and yes Kramer is a beastly CM defend. His over all PA isn't the highest but he has great stats for his position.

My problem is that I can't find any of them where their role is actually 4.5 or 5 stars. They are all ball winning midfielders or box to box etc. I'm guessing that would mean they play their best football as that role and not CM Defend. For example Morgan Schneiderlin is a 4.5 star CM defend and has the stats but to buy him + wage is just not worth it. Retraining Thiago Maia or Ajer (Cant buy him in new update) has worked for me but I don't want to wait an entire year to get them ready.
 
I use genie scout to check on players I'm unsure of, Kramer under the role of CM Defend is 90% which is Godly where as Maia tops out at 78.6% and Ajer at around 80-81% but personally I wouldn't be too concerned about players not being 100%. Take hector bellerin for example, he maxes out at around 80% for any role but gets average ratings of 8.0 and above every season. Quite often hidden attributes like consistency, important matches and others like determination and work rate are more important than over all ability or positional suitability. I speak from experience when I say Bender, Kante, Goretazka and Kramer will all perform amazingly for you regardless of defensive role played.
 
Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal are awesome CM (Defend), probably, the best in the game :)
 
Daniel Amartey might be worth having a look at. Turned out okay in my Valencia save.
