Promoted Middlesbrough and got taken over just after the season ended so have about £23m to spend but I wanted to know how many signings a newly promoted side normally makes. I usually make too many transfers and thats what usually makes me quit a save.

As you can see the squad needs some editions to stay up. Stuani will also be shipped out to make some more cash so Ill need a new backup striker a right back a goalkeeper and a defensive midfielder at the very least.
At the moment Ive signed 1 promising regen from Sunderland.
I also am expecting Ben Garratt, Tom Carroll, Ivan Calero and Seko Fofana to sign when their contracts expire.
Ive to wait on a WP for Badu to complete a full transfer and Im waiting on Lucas Romero to sign. Adam Smith is hopefully signing or I might see if Spurs let Walker or Trippier go.
Nick Powell may also sign for free. So thats 9 signings.
Id ideally like under 10. With a new CB needed Id probably go after Craig Dawson since West Brom were relegated.

Any suggestions? I dont know if I should sign Badu for £1.9m because its more realistic or Romero since hes cheap at £5.5m. Villa & Norwich relegated from prem & QPR relegated from championship means 3 nice wide men mgiht be available in Grealish (£14m release clause), Redmond & Philips.

The problem is I see too many players Id like to sign. I usually sign them all and am left with a team I dont want to manager

I also tend to sign a lot of players, especially when I'm in the building-process. I think especially in the BPL it's quite normal for teams to sign a lot of players (didn't Watford sign a fuckload of players last summer?) so as long as you've got a clear strategy with your signings, I wouldn't see anything unrealistic about signing 9-10 or even more players.

I don't think Lucas Romero would be a very unrealistic signing either, the bottom-clubs in the BPL tend to make quite profilic signings IRL aswell.

I'd just look through your squad and see what areas need to be improved. If you need to end up replacing your whole squad then there isn't really any harm in signing 10-11 players.

Phillips was brilliant 1st season in the premiership for me and Craig Dawson but I played him at right back. For centre back have a look at Enzo Roco from espanyol I think. Didn't cost me much but was rock solid.

The first priority I find for a newly promoted side is a goalkeeper, then look for more defensive minded midfielders (don't go and only buy DM's as that is a sure way to get relegated due to lack of goals). After that it's see where your older squad players are and look to potential younger replacements.
