Clean sheets

Or the lack of them? Anybody else struggling to keep goals out? I seem to have a decent defence and they play well but I keep conceding silly goals! My cardiff team must be the most entertaining in the league all my games seem to be high scores

I am playing as my beloved Southend United and I have only conceded 4 goals in 15 games ( 5 friendlies 10 competitive ). Including a clean sheet against Leeds in the EFL cup who are a division above.

Unlike Southend in real life ( conceded 24 in 14 league games ) I have some how created a tactic to keep clean sheets.

I see your point...You almost have to switch to contain when leading 2-0 otherwise game will more likely end 2-2

I'll give it a try although if I'm 2-0 up and looking good I do like to go for the throat perhaps I need to be a bit more cautious.

What system are you using at the back? I've got a 4231 with 2 cbs 2 full backs on support and my to cms are dlp defend and bwm support.

I am not the best when it comes to tactics, but this simple one seemed to work.

I play a 4-4-2, two FB-Automatic, one CD-Defend and one BPD-Defend.
In midfield I play two W-Attack, one BWM-Defend and one BBM-Support
If it helps my attackers are a SS-Attack at CAM and a DF-Support up top.

The instructions obviously have some impact on the tactic and my players do too, so it may not work for you.

In recent versions off FM I have always preferred the BWM and BBM combination in the center, but then I have always had 2 perfect players for that in Timlin and Leonard so it just works for me. I don't score a shed load of goals but I have controlled possession in every game and had more chances than the opposition in every game.

Since my last post I've changed to a 442 mainly to fit lambert and le fondre into a formation and I seem much more solid. Not as pretty football but does the job well. I prefer a bwm and dlp in my midfield so my full backs can push forward with 2 wingers attack and a target man with an advanced forward.
