Hi.

Ive been playing the game for years now, but for the first time ive bought the beta version this year, and its great, but i cant help to wonder if its worth it to get really invested in a save game, if they are just going change alot of things for the full game.

So I was wondering if anyone knows how much is usually changed when the full game comes out? im thinking in terms of player stats mostly.

Player stats won't change. It's mainly bug fixes and glitches that get fixed during the BETA

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression is that the beta they release before official launch nowadays is basicly the same version they used to release at launch before, back when they released a free demo before official, and not a full beta game. Those releases where always riddled with bugs in the beginning, and that ruined the first impression somewhat. They were always quickly fixed, but on reviewers stuff that left a bad impression. Now, instead of releasing a version full of bugs on launch day, they are doing the smart thing by calling it a beta (even though its basically the full game) and can hind behind that fact if it turns out to be a bugfest.

What I'm basically saying is that todays beta is pretty much equal to the offical launch version a couple of years ago, and you shouldn't expect much to change.

No, it's an Open BETA. It's very common in video games and has been used successfully by a lot of games over the years; Football Manager included. They're not hiding behind anything, they're literally telling people that it's not a finished game (these the watermark in the bottom right corner of your game) and are asking you to play it and report bugs so they can be fixed before launch.

SI are not hiding behind anything and claiming this is a BETA...... it literally is a BETA.

Is it not a closed BETA as it is only available to those who have pre ordered?

Yes, it's common in video games. They didnt use to do it, and now they do. Which is smart. I am not criticizing them calling this a beta, but rather pointing out that previous launch versions of the game was much like todays beta versions. The launch versions were always quickly followed by bugfixing patches that didn't change overall gameplay much. In the same way i dont expect the launch verision to change much about the game.

Much smarter to do it they way they are doing it today, as it shields them from a lot of criticizm. They should have done it earlier.

If you can come up with any clear differences between previous launch versions (when they didnt have beta for early buyers) and todays beta version I am curious to hear what it is.

No, a closed or private BETA is only available to a select few by invitation. Open/Public BETA is available for everyone who owns the game.

ah okay, sorry for the misunderstanding :)

They are very unlikely to change stats for individuals however, there will be tweeks to some players in terms of positions/history etc especially I would think lower down the leagues where there will be only one or two researchers per league, which is to be expected. The fact that it has been released as a beta means the programmers can get a proper testing of the game from individuals who are unbais so it is more likely that bugs will get spotted. Already a fair few bugs have been found and Database errors flagged up. The good thing is any saved beta games will still be available in the final version so if you have managed to sign a hidden gem for your side you aren't likely to lose him (unless he isn't real in the first place like a certain Thomas Brini who Liverpool were said to have signed in the summer, who is showing the beta).

Hold off creating a long term save. A lot does change. Bugs ect and even player movement, transfers and CA and PA gets a tweek.
