Can't get my CAM involved.

Hi I've been running a 4-2-3-1 which has been doing quite well however my one problem is that my CAM is doing nothing. Ozil has 1 goal and 1 assist in the last 20 games. Is there anything in my tactic that could be causing this to happen?

I think it might be Look for Overlap but I don't want to run around making random changes.

What do you want him to do? Just because he doesn't have goals or assists, doesn't mean he isn't "involved"

Try playing him as a shadow striker. Works a treat for me

He gets between 50-80 completed passes and 1-2 key passes. I want him controlling the play and threading through the ball for my front 3 (Sanchez, Ox and Griezmann). I feel that his stats are very underwhelming.

How are you doing this? What plan did you implement to actually do it? You're asking both sides to sit deep and make fewer runs forward and Ox has a Support duty as well, so he won't be making any forward runs. Not sure what PPMs they have that'll influence movement, but right now, you're not going to get a lot from them. The only target Ozil will consistently have, is the striker.

How many assists did Ozil get? If he is getting quite alot, then I think he has already done his job as a AP.

Of course Ozil is "doing nothing', except that he is making a LOT of additional space for Griezmann and Sanchez. In many cases he draws out of position one of central defenders and and keeps busy 'his' defensive midfielder (if there is one) or defending central midfielder. Ozil's rating is low because the game will give bonuses for goals scored, assists, key passes, key tackles ... but not for "a huge amount of additional spaces created".

I had the same issue, i won Premier League and Champions League yet I felt Ozil did not contribute enough. https://www.youtube.com/user/johnbarnes2307/videos on this channel he really gets the best out of Ozil but i think his performance as AP depends on the roles around him since he is basically surrounded by players. Try him attacking instead of having him on Support.

instead of playing with a DLP change it to a CM support. right side winger should be on attack (more option for ozil to pass to). Sanchez with ppm cuts in from the left, runs with the ball often (which is good for an IF) makes it harder for ozil to do any passing because instead of passing the ball to ozil (so ozil can make the killer pass), sanchez prefers to dribble the defense and shoot. most probably griezmann would be the only one he will be passing to. (notice again not to ozil).
just because you put AP on a player doesnt automatically mean he will be getting lots of the ball and making those killer passes or assist.
