I use the attack tactic at the start of every match, home or away. The defend tactic i use when i have 1 or 2 goals up and the opponent team put pressure on me. Not only it increase defensive but in many matches my team score 1 goal that close the game. So the attack tactic is the main tactic, and defensive tactic is for protectic my lead.

As you can see on results i had a great season, and i also had a few clean sheets, who in FM18 are really hard to get. For me the results are even greater because this season my team was hit by many injuries and i was not able to use my best eleven.

Training
For pre-season i use Team Cohesion and Match Training, and at the start of the season i use Balanced and Defensive Positioning.
Shouts
For shouts i use Encourage at the start of the match, after 15-20 minutes with no goal use Demand More. After the break i use Concentrate if winning or if lose or draw use Demand More. After concede use Push Forward. After minute 70 use Concentrate to increase chances to get a result.
Players
Central Defenders must have pace at least 13. Even though in the tactic i use CD and not BPD they must have good passing attribute i`d say at least 13 because of the play out of defence team instruction.
Wing Backs must have pace at least 13, crossing at least 13 and good tackling attribute because in my game they help a lot in defence regain possesion and start the counter-attack.
Center Mids must have good defence and attack attributes, as they have BBM role.
In Attack, the Left and Right Forwards should have good crossing and finishing. I use the left footed on the left side, and the right footed on the right side. For Centre Forward you must use a good finisher. He also has to have a good passing attribute.

Example: - All 3 AF`s scored many goals and reached the top 10 goalscorers of the league. But the Left and Right Forwards reached the top 10 assists and key passes.
Advice
I noticed that FM18 a very important thing that can influence our chances of getting a good result is to keep the players fresh. Because this tactic keep a high intensity, you have to protect your players and keep them fit. But remember that if you change too much from game to game will affect your team cohesion and could turn bad for you.
