Hi

I've got this 16 year old youth player who is pretty rubbish to be honest but the attributes he has got are good for goalkeepers .... agility/jumping/composure/concentration and tall.

I want to train him to be a goalkeeper but the new position training doesn't include goalkeeper.

i have put him in a goalkeepers training routine. I have also played a youth game with him in goal (let 1 goal in but played well) and also a sub appearrance in birmingham senior cup game (england 10 tier)

All this in 3 months and he hasnt even got goalkeeper positioning "awkward"

Does anyone know what else i could do?

this probally sounds like a shoot yourself in the foot comment but the best way would be to play him in goal for your first team. i would suggest in cups that you don't value so you don't lose league position.

yeah thats why i played him in that birmingham senior cup thing that i dont care whether i lose or not. fair enough it took me to put him on when i was 4-0 up but you know!!!

Thanks

there is no point. goalkeeper and outfield attributes are not exchangable. you are not gonna be able to train hinm well in handling, reflexes, communcation, area control etc.

just sell him

thats why you put him in goalkeeping training which focus's on handling arial ability etc. i did it years ago back in like 2003 and i developed a good keeper, it took like 2 years tho, i was hoping i could do the same but should be quicker because of the better training stuff (didn't realise no gk new pos)

This lad is a left footed right back who just fits a goalkeeper. I think its worth a go but dont want him to take 2 years developing

He doesnt have a handling stat? Hes an outfield player.

How can you develop a stat that doesnt exist?

would the stat not just be 1
no. the stats would be the same as for any other natural goalkeeper, attributes which you CANNOT train on an outfield player.

add this for FM11. Rarely be used, but would be interesting considering the lack of good GK regens in game.

how cant you train, put them in goalkeeper training and they train as a keeper would, training there handling arial ability communication....all players have goalkeeper stats, there just hidden like other hidden stats, i.e. loyalty/professionalism or even injury proneness

cheers kev. just checked fmrte and all players do have the goalkeeper stats, poor like but they do

They cannot be trained. training them in goalkeeping has no effect apart from wasting your time. the only way to "train" them is to use fmrte and edit them but it wouldnt make a difference, because they have virtually no in game use. if you are going to use fmrte you might as well edit the player to be good.

rooney can play as goalkeeper

like seriously, on fm2010.

Sounds interesting. I know its a little cheating, but why not just changing his primary position with FMRTE?
