After many days of speculation, former Yugoslav international legend, Dragan Džajić has signed a 2 year (3 seasons) deal with Italian side S.S. Lazio.
Former Yugoslavian superstar has welcomed this challenge with open arms.

"I have absolutely no doubt that we can reach the very top of Serie A. Anything can be achieved through perseverance and hard work."

The new manager will start looking into improving the squad, as well as bringing in some of his own staff during the next two months.

Season Expectations (09/10)
Serie A: Continental Qualification
Euro Cup: Second Knockout Round
Italian Cup: Quarter Finals

Transfer Budget: $7,424,998
Wage Budget: $52,000,000 p/a

Squad Assessment
After a careful look at the team line-up and assessing the team needs, I have come to a conclusion that the team will need to strengthen their defensive core. Therefore, the main transfer targets this season will be central defenders, seeing how their current center-halves will just not cut it (Andre Dias, Giuseppe Biava).
Possible transfer targets: Joseph Yobo (Everton), Emiliano Moretti (Genoa), Gonzalo Rodriguez (Villareal), Carlos Cuellar (Aston Villa)
As far as midfielders are concerned, Biancocelesti will need to target a first team defensive midfielder.
Possible transfer targets include: Josué (Wolfsburg), Marouane Fellaini (Everton)
Upon further analysis, I have also decided that in order to improve, Biancocelesti will need to target a young, skilled goalkeeper.
Possible transfer targets include: Asmir Begović
(Stoke), Carlos Kameni (Espanyol), Federico Marchetti (Cagliari), Sergio Romero (AZ)

Coaching Staff Assessment
Due to poor quality of coaching staff currently at the club, I have decided to let go of almost everyone (including my assistant, Carlo Regno), except for Adalberto Grigioni.
Several new scouts will also be introduced.

After letting go of most of the original coaches, I have completed hiring of new staff:

After bringing in new staff, Biancocelesti made a player swap with Udinese (Mobido Diakité for Aleksandar Luković). Cristian Ledesma has also been targeted by Aston Villa, and Manchester United.

Biancocelesti have also made their first purchase, which will take place on January 2, 2010. Lazio bought Maccabi Haifa's young AMC, Eyal Golasa for a fee of $400k. In the process, we had to stave off interest from Benfica, Liverpool, and West Ham to secure his services.

Next update coming on the eve of Italian Super Coppa final.

I'm playing Lazio too.
Did your Kolarov and Liechsteiner request to transfer?

It's going to be very difficult to better Stigen's story, but good luck nevertheless.

Stigen's story rules. He inspired me to start a new game and document my success with this club.

Right now I am trying to work out a deal with CSKA Moscow for Miloš Krasić.
I am also interested in possibility of signing Igor Akinfeev.

Kolarov declared interest to leave, but I urged him to stay, and he backed down over the transfer demand.

Mourinho is chasing Stephan Lichtsteiner, but I am keen on keeping him with the team as well. The first two friendly matches were played against inferior oponents, and ended in 3-0, and 4-1 victories. Luković has been a clutch performer on defensive end so far.

Here we go...

The press conference at San Siro is about to take place. Both managers are present, and will be answering questions for the media that is present in the press box.

The most pressing concern on the Biancocelesti's mind is the fitness of the ex-inter striker, Julio Cruz, who has taken a knock during their friendly match against Poli Ejido, just three days prior to this match. Cruz has been given the injections necessary to get him through this match, however, after this cup final, he will more than likely be out for about 4 to 9 weeks.

Inter faces numerous injury problems, the most pressing of which will be the absence of flamboyant defensive midfielder Thiago Motta, and goalkeeper Francesco Toldo. According to some pundits, Lazio have every chance today to come away with a result and make their supporters proud.

Among other news, the draw for the 4th qualifying round of EURO cup takes place today. Lazio have been seeded in the middle for this draw, and will face the Finnish league cup champions, Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi.

August Update:

Supercoppa Italia
August 8, 2009, 14:00
Inter vs Lazio 1-1 (4-5 pen)
Diego Milito (10)
Tommaso Rocchi (40)
Full Time
Penalties:
Lazio: Zaraté (o), Luković (x), Matuzalém (o), Foggia (o), Kolarov (o), Rocchi (o)
Inter: Ballotelli (o), Chivu (o), Milito (x), Muntari (o), Stanković (o), Maicon (x)

Man of the Match: Cristian Chivu
Thoughts:
Great performance by the Biancocelesti saw them upset Inter today. Lazio strikers were outstanding, providing plenty of chances, but in the end were unable to take the lead in regulation and extra time. It took penalties to settle this one, and the Biancocelesti will be celebrating this trophy for weeks to come.

Following the cup win, Sebastiano Siviglia was sold to Ascoli Calcio for $425k. Also, Pasquale Foggia is widely expected to sign for Everton in the coming days, in order to complete a part exchange for their flamboyant defender, Joseph Yobo.

Joseph Yobo:
View attachment 74242

In other news, AC Milan bought Mallorca's flamboyant attacking midfielder, 24 year old Gonzalo Castro, for $12.5mil. He has played 129 games, for Mallorca and Nacional (Uruguay), scoring 29 goals in the process.

Pasquale Foggia just snubbed Everton's contract offer. He will be put on the transfer list, for $17mil, in order to raise enough money to purchase Joseph Yobo. Yobo, who had previously successfully negotiated with Lazio, will have to remain at Goodison Park. In other news, Claude Puyol (Olympique Lyonnais) has offered $9.75mil for Lazio's current captain, Tommaso Rocchi. Biancocelesti, however, are currently not interested in selling their captain, unless a better offer comes along. If he was to be sold, a possible replacement for his services would be either promising Belgian youngster, Romelu Lukaku, or Paraguayan striker Oscar Cardozo.

Several foreign teams have submitted their bid of $17mil for services of Pasquale Foggia. The front runners for his signature right now are Shakhtar Donyetsk and Birmingham. Should he sign for either of those two teams, it is widely expected that the money coming in from the sale will be used to strengthen the defensive core of the squad, with the main transfer target being Everton's Joseph Yobo, followed by Udinese's Cristian Zapata.

Season ticket sales update:
Lazio have announced the latest figures from ongoing season ticket sales. As of today (Sunday, August 16, 2009), Lazio have sold 25055 season tickets tickets for the upcoming Serie A season. The board expect the club to sell another 1300 tickets in the coming weeks. Projected total is 26400 tickets for the upcoming Serie A season.

Pasquale Foggia is no longer a part of Lazio's setup, signing a 4 year deal with Shakhtar. Lazio will receive $17mil for the transfer.

EURO Cup 4th round qualification between Lazio and the Finnish league cup champions HJK will take place at Finnair Stadium on August 20, 2009 at 19:45. Lazio are being touted as heavy favorites for both legs of the qualifying round. Only a victory will ensure the Biancocelesti's placement in the next round of the competition.

EURO Cup 4th Qualifying Round, First Leg
HJK vs Lazio 1-3
Cristian Ledesma (13)
Anssi Toivonen (OG, 21)
Simo Holmström (MPS, 32)
Matuzalém (34)

Petri Lindroos (44)
Man of the Match: Aleksandar Kolarov

Final Thoughts: Confident display from Biancocelesti ensured their victory in the first leg of 4th Qualifying round for EURO Cup today. They should have no problem with HJK when they visit Stadio Olimpico one week from today.

Sunday, August 23, 2009, 15:00
Serie A: Week 1
Lazio vs. Palermo 0-0
Man of the Match: Federico Balzaretti
Final Thoughts:
Poor display on the opening day saw Lazio play to a goalless tie versus Palermo. Lazio were outplayed, and nearly dominated throughout the game, managing only 1 shot on target by the end of the game. Very disappointing outing by Biancocelesti today, their fans will not be pleased, to say the least.

Lazio vs HJK (4-0) (7-1 agg)
Mauro
Zárate (18, 84, 87)
Aleksandar Luković (PEN, 50)
Man of the Match: Mauro Zárate

Final Thoughts:
Confident performance from Biancocelesti on their home turf sees them go through to the next phase of the competition. Well done!

EURO Cup group stage draw takes place today. Lazio have been seeded in the second round for the draw. Biancocelesti have been drawn into Group K of the competition, where they will face Panathinaikos (Greece), Toulouse FC (France), and Dinamo Moscow (Russia).

Season ticket sales update: Total tickets sold 25055

Sunday. August 30, 2009, 14:30
Serie A, Week 2
Siena vs Lazio
Massimo Maccarone (33)
Cristian Manfredini (78)

Man of the Match: Aleksandar Kolarov

Final Thoughts:
Decent effort from the Biancocelesti saw them play (again) to a draw against Siena. Lazio managed to take 8 shots in total, 3 of which were on target. Each team had one clear-cut chance, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Analysis for August:
Lazio have been very good in EURO Cup qualifying round, even though they faced a far inferior oponent. However, their league output for the month of August, and first two matches, left a lot more to be desired. The fans are hoping to see their team start picking up points in Serie A, when they return to action on September 13th at Olimpico against Genoa.

Man of the Match: Simone Del Nero
Final Thoughts:
Poor game overall. Lazio sat back far too much and allowed Genoa’s wingers too much time on the ball along the flanks, resulting in 7 shots on target for them, however, none of them resulted in goals or clear cut chances. Del Nero’s strike served to separate the teams, and the Biancocelesti will be delighted with his effort to give them their first win of the season.

Final Thoughts:
A good effort by Lazio, but an even better defensive effort by the Greek giants. Lazio dominated from the kickoff, and Panathinaikos only managed to get 4 shots on target, one of which ended up in the back of the net. Mario Galinović was outstanding in net, and his solid performance ensured 3 points for the Greek side. All eyes will be on Lazio, at their home stadium on October 1st, when they face Dynamo Moscow at Olimpico.

Man of the Match: Gennaro Gattuso
Final Thoughts:
A poor effort from Lazio saw them just narrowly losing out to AC Milan at San Siro. Mauro Zaraté had a fine game for Lazio. His free kick in 11th minute of the match gave Lazio the lead. Albano Bizzari had an outstanding game as well. The Lazio keeper was obviously in top form, denying the Rossoneri a goal on 3 clear cut chances.

It’s official, Biancocelesti will get a chance to bolster their defensive line with the start of the next transfer window. Lazio vs. Juventus 0-0
Man of the Match: Felipe Melo
Final Thoughts:
A dismal performance by Lazio saw them play to a goalless tie against Juventus. Bianconerri dominated the game from the kickoff, but Lazio’s defense stood tall, and another great effort by Albano Bizarri saw them snag a point from this match, in which they were expected to lose. Gonzalo Baretto made his debut for Lazio. He had a few good interceptions and passes, but was eventually substituted in 78th minute in favor of Stefano Mauri. Lazio only managed to get 5 shots on target, while Juve had 12.

Man of the Match: Hernán Crespo
Final Thoughts:
Lazio dominated the game in shots of goal and possession, but were unable to convert any of their chances into goals. Overall, a solid effort, and Lichtsteiner’s tackle on Crespo that gave away the early penalty hurt the Biancocelesti, who were in the end unable to answer Parma’s advances.

End of the Month Analysis:
This was a very disappointing month for Lazio, who find themselves sitting in very disappointing 15th spot in Serie A. Surely, they have to pick up the pace and catch up to the rest of the pack starting next month..

Luke Wilkshire (22, 75)
Man of the Match: Luke Wilkshire

Final Thoughts:
Lazio played very well, but were just unlucky in the end, narrowly losing out to Russian giants. Brocchi had a good game for Lazio, and I am certain their forwards will feel like they could have contributed more.

Final Thoughts:
Julio Cruz had an outstanding game, giving Lazio their second win in a row. Biancocelesti played very well as a team, covering for one another when necessary in order to ensure a victory over their rivals. Solid performance by Lazio, one that will leave their fans pleased with the final result. Well done.

EURO Cup Update: Panathinaikos tied at home vs. Dinamo Moscow. The Russian side will take the lead in group K now, with the Greeks trailing them by 3 points. Final Thoughts:
Confident display from Biancocelesti had them cruising to an easy victory at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday afternoon. Sergio Floccari extended his scoring streak, delighting the Biancocelesti, and a nice surprise goal by Stefan Radu more than ensured Lazio’s victory.

Transfer Wire: October 31, 2010
Lazio fans will have something to cheer about come January. Flamboyant Dutch attacking midfielder, Hedwiges Maduro, has agreed to a deal with Lazio which will see him staying at Olimpico until July 1, 2013. Maduro has been unhappy with his playing time at Valencia and was transfer listed for a couple of weeks. The only other contender for his services was Bundesliga side SC Freiburg. Hedwiges Maduro will join his new club on January 2, 2010, for a reported fee of $3.7mil.

End of the Month Analysis:

Nice layout there.I'm currently doing a Lazio save as well and just be wary of the "no more than 2 non-EU players" run.Does my nut in.

Unlucky about the Dinamo Moscow result but keep up the good performances.

Thank you. I have never played FM as a manager of any other team but Lazio and Inter. That 2 non-EU players thing can be quite problematic, but not quite as bad as 4 homegrown players trained at the club for registration for European club competitions.

Transfer Wire Update: Tuesday, November 3, 2009
Seems like Dragan Džajić is really starting to take an active interest in the transfer market. Lazio has recently negotiated a deal with Spanish second division team, Real Murcia, which will see the recently crowned Golden Boot Winner (U20WC), Daniel Aquino, join Lazio for a reported fee of $7.25mil on January 2, 2010. Lazio are also rumored to be pursuing Eyong Enoh, 23 year old Ajax defensive midfielder. Enoh is currently transfer listed, with an asking fee reported to be in the range $1.75mil to $2.50mil. Enoh is being highly regarded by many top club scouts, with some of them comparing him to David Beckham.

Man of the Match: Giuseppe Biava

Final Thoughts:
Sergio Floccari is clearly in top form. He was absolutely clinical today, finishing the game with 2 goals. Biava had a very good game as well, contesting most aerial battles and winning a vast majority of them. Good win by Lazio, which sees them climb into second place in group K. One more victory will guarantee them a place in the next round, despite two previous losses on their home soil. The only complaint was directed towards Matuzalém for picking up three yellow cards, which means he will have to sit out for Lazio’s match versus Panathinaikos.
In other news, Lazio have confirmed the transfer of Cameroonian defensive midfielder Eyong Enoh for $1.8mil. The transfer will take place on January 2, 2010.

Final Thoughts:
Lazio’s six game unbeaten streak comes to an end versus their bitter rivals, AS Roma. Lazio played well, but in the end came up short. Luković received his marching orders in 85th minute, which enabled Roma to break free of Lazio defense and score a crucial goal to win the game just 3 minutes later.

Man of the Match: Dejan Stanković

Final Thoughts:
Lazio played a very solid defensive game, but in the end, they were no match for Inter at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday afternoon. Dejan Stanković had put in a very solid performance for his team today and rounded off his game by scoring a powerful header from point-blank range. With this victory, Inter have extended their winning streak to 12 games in a row now.

Aleksandar Luković sent off (69)
Man of the Match: Giuseppe Biava

Final Thoughts:
Confident display by Biancocelest saw them cruising to a victory, after dropping six points in two games (Roma, Inter). Lazio looked poised and were in control during the whole match. Luković got sent off again towards the end of the game, however, that did not stop Lazio from taking all three points at Friuli today.

End of the Month Analysis:
Solid month for Lazio in November, and a decent string of performances for them. The fans will undoubtedly be very disappointed with the loss their team suffered to AS Roma and Inter, but their confident display in EURO Cup saw them take a hold of a qualifying spot for next round.

Final Thoughts:
Despite the absence of Sergio Floccari, Lazio managed to get a win they so desperately needed, which all but guarantees them a spot in the next round of the competition. Stephan Lichtsteiner took Floccari’s role in attack today, and had a good game, despite being played way out of his position.

Final Thoughts:
A good win for Lazio, which sees them shift up to 6th place in the Serie A, a spot they will definitely want to hang on to if they are to qualify for European club competition next season. Lazio have been in top form lately losing only 2 out of last 8 matches.

Man of the Match: Aleksandar Kolarov

Final Thoughts:
Last match of group stages in EURO Cup sees Lazio coast by Dinamo in Moscow with ease. Lazio played a solid defensively structured game, managing to score a couple of goals in the process. Kolarov’s free kick from 35 yards out gave Lazio their second goal of the game, and will see them top Group K in standings. After a lackluster start to their European campaign, Biancocelesti have managed to do more than just recover their composure and will end this year’s EURO Cup group stages on top of their group.

Final Thoughts:
A fine performance from their captain saw Lazio snag a win against Bologna at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday afternoon. End of the Year Analysis:
Since coming in, Dragan Džajić has managed to turn Lazio’s fortunes around. Although he made only one purchase in the first transfer window, he has managed to instill confidence and continuity in his squad. The fans should be very pleased with his work so far, just as the critics have been within the last few weeks. With new signing that are coming in a few days time, Lazio’s fans will have a lot to cheer for in the near future. Džajić has been nominated for manager of the year, but in the end lost out to Alberto Zaccheroni of Juventus. The other nominee was Internazionale’s José Mourinho.

Transfer Update: January 2, 2010:
Today marks the start of the new transfer window in Italy. Lazio fans will have tons of positives to draw from it with signings of Otamendi, Tadic, Golasa, and Maduro. These four players should help Lazio mount a serious push for a title challenge by strengthening their midfield and defense respectfully. Stephan Lichtsteiner has been targeted by Sir Alex Ferguson, and the reported fee for his transfer has been set at $11.75mil, but Lazio are more than likely to ask more if they are to part with a player of his quality.

“He is a quality player, and in order for us to ship him out, we will need to receive a lot in return.”, says Džaja. “We just can’t afford to lose players too cheaply. After all, there are still a couple of pressing concerns for me, primarily in defense.”

The new signings are more than likely to make their debut for Lazio on January 10, when Lazio are scheduled to host Cagliari at Stadio Olimpico.

“I am very excited to be here.”, adds Hedwiges Maduro, “This team has a very rich history, and I am more than proud to be a part of their setup at Olimpico.”

“We are not finished yet,” says the Lazio manager. “I intend to bring in a couple of more fresh faces, as well as bolster out youth squad. Every team needs to build for the future of they are to be successful.”

In other news, Chelsea have made an offer of $14.75mil for Lazio’s Stephan Lichtsteiner. Džaja has accepted the offer, which will give Lazio a chance to make a couple of more signings. Lichtsteiner is a valued player for Lazio, but he no longer fits into the current tactical setup, as Džaja has decided to mix things up with the arrival of new signings by switching to a 3-4-3 formation instead of his usually preferred 4-4-2 diamond. Lazio are rumored to be interested in Benfica's prodigy, Angel di Maria.

Golasa finally showed the fans what he’s really made of. A great strike from the far left edge of the box gave Lazio the lead. Final Thoughts:
Lazio were nothing more but an outside bet for this match, but they’ve managed to pull off a huge upset in Italian Cup quarter final match against AC Milan. Biancocelesti looked confident and in control throughout the match, and did not let up for one minute. Golasa had a fine game, opening the scoring for his team. Lazio’s fans will want to see them progress even farther now, seeing how they have already exceeded all expectations that were set at the beginning of the season.

Final Thoughts:
Lazio had another good game against AC Milan. Julio Cruz was in top form. He created a number of good chances for his team, and capped it off with a goal that gave Lazio a two goal lead at the time. If this run of form continues, Lazio has a very good chance of ending this season in the top 4 spots in Serie A.

Lazio are finally ready to defend their Italian Cup title from last year. Biancocelesti will face off against Inter at Olimpico on Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Lazio have performed well above expectations this season, and their manager could not be any more pleased with their effort.

Final Thoughts:
It is looking more and more likely that Juventus will be lifting the Scudetto this year. Lazio lost out to Bianconeri in what was a very closely contested challenge. There were plenty of decent chances for both sides, but Juventus gets the edge in this one. This will be a setback for Lazio, as they now have to make sure to win most of their matches until the end of the season in order to have a shot at qualifying for Champion’s League next year.

Transfer Update: Monday, February 15
Chelsea’s Deco has just signed a 3 year deal with Lazio that will see him transfer to Italy on July 1, 2010. Deco, who has played only 7 matches for Chelsea this season and collected 2 assists and a match rating of 7.23 will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. Lazio are also rumored to be courting Sampdoria’s young rising star, Nenad Krsticic.

Difficult game away from home for Lazio. Rangers take this one, but Lazio only has to win by a score of 2-0 at home to advance to the next stage. Rematch takes place at Olimpico on the 24, and Lazio will have their sights set on a win.

A solid performance by Lazio, fielding half of their reserve players, saw them take the full three points versus Parma today. Lazio played a solid, fluid possession game, making Parma powerless to their magic.

Maduro’s mistake lead to a penalty shot against Lazio. Lazio’s fans will no doubt be devastated by this loss, especially since it could potentially hurt Lazio’s chances of European qualification for next season.

End of the Month Analysis:
Lazio's fans will be delighted over their victories against the likes of AC Milan in Italian Cup, and Rangers in EURO Cup 1st Knock-Out round. However, they will be pretty cut up about their losses to Juventus, and especially Chievo.

Final Thoughts:
A lackluster first half had Lazio fans worried, but the Biancocelesti were able to come back in style to win this key fixture. With 13 games remaining in the Serie A, Lazio has to turn their attention to pulling ahead of Napoli. Lazio and Napoli are deadlocked in points, with Lazio getting a slight edge due to their goal differential.

This was a well deserved victory for Lazio. Villareal dominated the Italian side throughout this match, and Giuseppe Rossi will surely feel like he could have contributed more. Poor game for Lazio, in the part of the season where every win can bring you closer to a Champion’s League spot. Final Thoughts:
This game was a must win/tie for Lazio, and they have failed to deliver a favourable result. Palermo stretched out the Lazio midfield and defense, creating a number of quality shots. Lazio will be deeply hurt by this result.

Overall, this was another disappointing result for Lazio, who find themselves in 6th position in Serie A. With 9 games remaining, Lazio will have to get a good result out of nearly all, in order to overlap Palermo and secure a EURO Cup berth next season.

Final Thoughts:
Lazio fans will no doubt be delighted to have won this first leg at home. Going into the next match with a two goal advantage will require them to play cautiously and avoid getting caught up field in order to progress to the semi finals.

Walter Samuel sent off (73)
Tommaso Rocchi (76)
Final Thoughts:
Lazio managed to edge the defending champions Inter by a goal after Walter Samuel’s second booking of the game saw him receive his marching orders. Tommaso Rocchi was undoubtedly the hero of the day, helping his team capitalize very early on the man advantage. That goal gave Lazio the edge they needed to win this game, and overlap Palermo in race for EURO Cup qualification spot next season. Of course, Lazio still have a chance to win the Italian Cup when they face off against inter again.

Man of the Match: Rodrigo Taddei
Final Thoughts:
Lazio played their way to a draw versus Roma in this epic EURO Cup quarter final matchup. The score line was even at half time (0-0), and Roma lead the way 2-0 at full time to even up the score and take the match to extra time. Firmani and Mauri (who came on to replace Firmani in the second half of extra time) found a way to edge their rivals and avoid the dreaded penalty shootout. Lazio will face off against the English side Everton in the semi final, with the first game being played at Goodison Park in 14 days from now.

Great display by Lazio saw them winning in style and advancing to EURO Cup Final versus Belgian side RSC Anderlecht at HSH Nordbank Arena in Hamburg, Germany on May 12th.

End of the Month Analysis:
Brilliant performance saw Lazio progress to EURO Cup Final. Gonzalo Barreto was the star of the semi finals, and more than deserved his first career hat-trick. Fans should also be very satisfied with league performance, despite their loss to Palermo a few weeks ago. Overall, a great month in this club’s history, one that will surely live in fan’s memories for a very long time.
