Too much returned balls to the keeper

I have set my passing settings to direct, and the strategy to attacking so I don't know why my players pass to the keeper from time to time, they do it even if the strategy is defensive and we are playing against real madrid... it's dangerous, so can you tell me how to tell my players to avoid that.

There's nothing you can do, when there is no option to pass forward for a player then it will be passed back. So is it better to lose possession at the last defender or pass it all the way back to the goalie who has a view of the back 4 and an option of smashing it up the field.

It's common and there's nothing wrong unless the opposition are extremely fast and your players aren't, and if that's the case then you shouldn't be playing offensive and leaving space behind your defense for the pass back.
