The Wait is over - Maldini is our man!

AC Milan have finally choosen the replacemant of Brazilian Leonardo. After several interviews and several candidates to consider, Silvio Berlusconi has proudly introduced former captain and AC Milan Legend Paolo Maldini as their new manager.

Maldini, now 42, has no previous experiance in such a role but has already stated that his love for the club is something that holds him in a good position for the managerial role.

When asked about transfer policys, Maldini replied by stating that it would a '1 out, 1 in system' and won't look to buy players unless they are 'needed'.

Maldini though did express his desire in Udinese's Felipe and Corinthians' star Dentinho. Whether or not he follows up interest is unknown as of yet.

Foot Note : I'm using StuW's database though i dont think its up to date, currently the one before the 18th. I started the game in December 2008 due to adding Brazil on the database. Italy's Serie A and B are the ONLY playable nations although I have added many in order to pick up talent.

Update of 2 friendlies to come soon, and transfers of January 2009.

Please comment as it helps me keep motvation to write

Transfers to come soon!

Maldini reveals 2009/2010 AC Milan squad!

Transfers In -

Dentinho - £14million from Corinthians.

The young Brazilian was brought in on loan at first and clearly impressed Maldini. At 20, he has many years to prove his price tag. Maldini also stated that he would be involved in the first team plans straight away.

As Dentinho can play on either wing and up-front he is a very versatile player.

Roque Santa Cruz - £5.75million from Manchester City.

The Paraguayan called tme on a frustrating time in the Midlands and snapped up the chance to move to the San Siro. An accomplished striker, Santa Cruz will be likely used as backup/first team. Though he was tranfer listed at City, that doesn't take away from the fact that Santa Cruz is a great player.

As he only turns 28 in August, he has a good couple of years left in him.

Transfers out -

Patrick Aubameyang - £4.4million to Barcelona

Gianmarco Zigoni - Loan to Modena

Davide Di Gennaro - £7million to Aston Villa

Marek Jankulovski - £5million to Real Madrid

Marco Borriello - £9.75million to Sevilla

Clarence Seedorf - Loan to Udinese

Dominic Adiyiah - Loan to Standard Liege

Nice. Love the little arrows. ;) Brilliant update.

Maldini : We need more players!

Paolo Maldini admitted tody on the club's website that AC Milan maybe do need a few more players. As of yet the new boss has only signed 2 players, but was hoping to keep this his final squad for the season with 6 players leaving.

But after a 5-2 defeat to Juventus and a 6-1 win over BV Veendam Maldini has stated that they are beginning to struggle in the wide midfielder department.

Maldini then went on to state that he had een looking at Tottenham's Aaron Lennon, Udinese's Alexis Sanchez and CSKA Moscow's Milos Krasic.

With no offers tabled yet Maldini has said to be considering his options. SKY Italia has speculated that Aaron Lennon will be the most likely target.

AC Milan pick up 4-2 win!

Delighted away fans of AC Milan watched on with delight as there side picked up a convincing 4-2 win away at Varese.

Things started brightly for The Rossoneri as Dentinho made a great run down the right wing before crossing deep to find an unmarked Ronaldinho for an easy finish. Varese hit back to make it 1-1 before Pato netted a goal via a calm finish.

Half time came it was 2-2 and Maldini clearly needed to change something. He introduces Pirlo, Inzaghi and Huntelaar, which good effect.

Huntelaar and Inzaghi both score to hand AC Milan a good win. In other news though, AC Milan also completed the £6million deal of Roma's Roderigo Taddei. He signed a 4 year deal worth £38,500 a week. He made his debut in this game.

Rossoneri defeat Cagliari 3-0!

As both teams lined up for the first game of the Serie A season for 2009/2010 at the San Siro, no doubt AC Milan were the favourites for the game. With new coach Paolo Maldini sitting in the dug-out for his firt competitive game, things were looking bright.

With their temporary home kit with new sponsor Fly Emirates on, The Rossoneri kicked off in the first half.

It only took them 9 minutes before towering new man Roque Santa Cruz headed home a delicious Gianluca Zambrotta cross. Zambrotta had made a darting run from right back, and after an epic switch from playmaker Andrea Pirlo, he delivered the perfect cross to supply the Paraguayan a goal on hi debut.

As the second half began still at 1-0, Milan made no changes. It wasn't until the 64minute when youngster Dentinho was hauled down in the box that gave the Rossoneri their next chance to score. Andrea Pirlo stepped up, and lotted it cooly past the keeper.

78th minute and Maldini stands up from the touchline a he looks very happy with hi sides performance. He signals to Klaas Jan Huntelaar to strip and warm up. The 4th official holds up the number 14 - Dentinho's number. As they shake hands Huntelaar runs on and hopes to make an immediate impact.

As Thiago Silva knocks the ball out wide to Zambrotta, he collects and begin yet another thunderous run down the line. He crosses the ball in and its met by the head of Huntelaar to give Maldini a convincing win in his first competitive game.

Man of the Match - Gianluca Zambrotta

The right back dazzled fans and pundits with hi great forward movement which contributed in his two assists this evening. Maldini will be praying that his right back shall keep this form up, as his side provide a lethal option in the air in the form of Huntelaar and Santa Cruz.

AC Milan take their chances!

In a game which Roma fans expected so much from against their fierce rivals AC Milan, they were left dissappointed as their team slumped to a crashing 4-1 by Maldini's side.

Things started brightly for Roma as skipper Totti gave them the lead inside 4 minutes via a header that hit the underside of the crossbar. A mstake from Kalahdze was the key factor in this goal.

Milan responded though on 18 minutes when a Ronaldinho free-kick met the head of Thiago Silva, and the Brazilian central defender smashed the ball home to make it 1-1. The Milan fans were estatic and could be heard very clearly a the chanted Silva's name.

10 minutes later and a through ball from Huntelaar provided his striking partner Roque Santa Cruz with a chance via a one-on-one. He grabbed the chance and netted convincely past a helpless Doni. 2-1 AC Milan at half time.

Pirlo must have been feeling some sort of De Ja Vu when on the 65 minute he had yet another penalty oppurtunity, at the same point in the game. The outcome was the ame as Pirlo won the battle of wits with the keeper and scored to make it 3-1 to the Rossoneri.

To add insult, Ronaldinho picks up the ball on the left wing, and see's the off the ball run from Huntelaar and knocks it forward. Huntelaar collects and smashes it low and hard across the keeper to make it 4-1 and a resounding victory for AC Milan.

Pato made his return from an injury, playing the last 15 minutes against Roma.

Man of the Match - Ronaldinho

After contributing 2 assists and a dazzling dribbling display, Ronaldinho once again showed the player he once was at Barcelona. Its rare at times to witness Ronaldinho show this class over the past couple of years, but Maldini seems to be getting the bet out of the Brazilian.

After reading a lot of the comments people are saying about stories, ive decided that im going to change the approuch of this one to try and get more followers, and hopefully try and be one of the better stories that people have read :) I'll be changing it till the point og view of Maldini, so its like him talking and explaining things around him. I hope you guys will enjoy it!

Chapter 1 - 'Regret'

- - -
'Hey lads that was great the other day, it really was, I just hope you can keep thi kind of play going throughout the season. If we keep playing like that, then theres no reason why we can't be European Champions and Serie A title holders. You can go lads.' I said.

The lads left one by one, they knew they had played great. But was this arrogance? I hoped not.

I'd given the lads the day of so that I could go and observe the under 18's game. I had a few players that I wanted to keep an eye on as they had been recomended to my by the youth coaches. I pulled up at the training pitch on which the younger lads were playing today against Palermo under 18's. I knocked the car into neutral and lifted the handbrake. I got out of my new Audi, a present from the chairman and grabed my sunglasses before shutting and locking the door. It was a short walk to the pitch, but I was greeted by Mauro, my assistant.

'Paolo, I didn't think you would have came today..'
'Ahh Mauro, I told you I would be here'

I put my hand on his shoulder and smiled at Mauro, he returned the smile and we headed towards the pitch.

'Paolo, what do you think of Matias' progress so far?'
'I like him, I like him a lot truth be told Mauro, why, is there a problem?
'Well, yes there is. Matias signed a new contract yesterday with Corinthians. Is he really that comittied to AC?'
'I'll have a chat, see where the lads head is at, but right now, lets jut watch the younger lads eh?'

We watched the full 90 minutes, as we witnesed a 1-1 draw. Our boys had the majority of possesion, 65% to be exact. But I didn't see as much as I thought I would. I didn't feel there was a lot of passion. I visited the dressing room after the game.

Gasps of disbelief were heard as myself and Mauro stepped in.

'Hello guys, well played out there today, how are you feeling?'
'OK' was the general response.
'Wrong answer, you should be telling me that you are knackered, guffed, tired! Lads, if your hoping to earn professional contracts, c'mon! Lets see a little bit more!'

I walked out, Mauro quickly followed and pulled me aside.

'That was a little harsh Paolo, they're only learning'
'Mauro, trust me, I little harshness doesn't hurt anyone, infact, it will help them'
'I hope you know what your talking about.

12th September 2009 - Match Day
*Bzzzz, Bzzzz, Bzzzz, Bzzzz*

It was the alarm.

*Bzzzz, Bzzzz, Bzzzz, Bzzzz*

I wake up and turn this off. Slowly I sit up in bed of the hotel we were staying in. I met this a regular thing, home or away, as I felt that this would help with team bonding. It was 6.30 AM, breakfast was at 7.30 AM. I grabbed a towel and jumped into the shower. I then got dried, stuck on the AC Milan Suit I had been instructed to wear today. I grabbed my wallet and sunglasses before I left.

I headed to get the morning newspaper, see what the paper talk was on our game today at the San Siro against Genoa. I was shocked to ee the headline ;
'Ancellotti: Abbiamo firmato Pirlo'
They've signed Pirlo?! They've signed him! I got out my phone and scrolled to Silvio.

'Hello Paolo?'
'Have you seen the headline Silvio?!'
'Yes, Yes I have. Don't worry Paolo everything is under control. I have had contact from Chelsea regarding Andrea.'
'Did you not think of telling me?'
'It's barely anything Paolo, you're over-reacting.'
'I swear to god Silvio, if you sell Andrea without my authority.'
'Good-bye Paolo, good luck today.'

*Silvio hangs up*

**** him! I have to keep Pirlo he is the clog in the team. I had to ignore this though, we had to go and beat Genoa.

The bus ride was tense though. I couldn't keep my mind of the conversation with Silvio and I still had no idea to what his plans were. I could only hear muffled laughter from my team. I looked round and Pato and Dentinho had began to samba, spurred on by the rest of the team. I myself smiled and began to spur them on also. This was the kind of atmosphere we had developed.

As we sat in the dressing room though, they were quiet. Sporting the new Fly Emirates home shirt, the lads seemed in the zone.

'Guys. You know what you have to do. This will be tough, we know that. Genoa are a hard team. Thiago, Felipe, you guys need to be aware today. They've went for 3 up top. Make sure you keep Luca Toni off the ball. They'll use him a lot, and if you cut him out the game then I feel we can stop their flow. Andrea, ignore the talk in the papers. Keep it out of your mind. Pato, Robinho, there's no pressure on you guys today just relax and enjoy.'

Molla Milano!

I grabbed a hold of Ronaldinho before he left the changing room.

'Play as you want tonight. Your totally free to express.'
'Are you sure?'
'Positive, now get out there!'

I followed him out and up the tunnel. The roar of the Rossoneri became louder and louder. I stepped out and there was an up-roar from the fans. I waved and collected my sunglasses from my pocket and put them on.

We looked good and kicked off the game as I took my seat next to Mauro.

'Did you see the paper Paolo?'
'Paper talk Mauro, Paper talk.'

13 minutes in Pirlo picks a loose ball up. He plays a simple pass to Pato. Robinho is now in acres of space, nobody around.

'Give it too Robinho!'

Pato takes on one man and beats him, still unaware of Robinho's position.

'Pato, give it too Robinho!'

Pato still ignores this and takes on another man and beats him. Finally he looks up and sees Robinho. He plays to Robinho on the 18 yard box.

With one man in his way, Robinho beats him and drives the ball in low with his left foot. It beats the keeper and we take a 1-0 lead.

'Get in!' I begin to fist pump on the bench.

It stayed this way until the 72rd minute. Pirlo exchanges passes with Gattuso and then plays it to Santa Cruz on the edge of the box. As Santa Cruz spins on the box Taddei makes a run off the ball. Santa Cruz sees this and finds Taddei.

Taddei rattles the ball and it strikes the post as it goes in for 2-0. This i how it finished.

'Excellant lads! We needed a performance and you produced one! Keep this up when we fly to Istanbul on Monday! Just relax tomorrow and don't do anything stupid ok?'

I left later than the team and headed to the office were I was met by Silvio. As we approuched my office I noticed somebody already inside it. As we entered, I reliased who it was.

Bruce Buck. Chelsea's chairman.

'Get out now!'
'Paolo calm down, he just wants to talk.'
'Paolo its great to finally meet you. I've came to ask your permission.'

*I slammed the table.*

'Andrea is not for sale, end of.'
'Paolo, let's not be hasty, lets talk about..'

*I walked out of my office*

'Paolo dont you dare walk out of here!'

I heard Silvio's voice, but I kept walking. This could be something I would regret, but right now, I was furious.
