First car

First question: how old are you?

If you are young it will be very expensive to insure. im learning to drive and got my test next month and my first car is a clio. thats one of the cheapest cars to insure as its only a 1.2 and its £2500 a year so that would probabally be £4000 a year which is twice the value of the car!!!!
im 17 btw

Suppose your right Haha i never factored the insurance in when i was looking at it

ach well it will be a wee hatchback for me then!

18

i guess your asking because its a 2 litre?

Exactly why. Get a small car, don't crash, get a well-paid job and get a beast of a car :D

been in a galant and they like **** off a shovel my first car was a ford escort 1.4 if i was you i would give the galant a miss bit to powerful for a first car:'(

you will be lucky to get insured on that car lol, if you do you will be wasting your money. Would recomend doing pass plus as this was decrease you insurance a bit. Also you can can get a nipy car that is 1.4 litre. If i were you would look for a cheap car then drive it for a few years and then get an upgrade

Cheers for the help guys, its pretty conclusive evidence that i need to avoid the galant :L!

I only have a little 1.0 litre corsa, and that costs me £2700 a year to insure... No 1 would insure me for less than £5000 a year on my mums car (a 1.6 meriva)

There is a reason why cars of this size are cheap...no one can affrod to insure them. if you could you would get a better car.

I have a 1.1 clio, insurance for me is £1900 a year.

1.8 Focus, 2 years no claims and my insurance just went up from £1200 to £1500 :S

Just get a 1.0 for a few years to build up some no claims, then think about getting a proper good car

Rover 25 1.4 cost me £1600 to insure in my first year, was a decent car as well. Definetly do pass plus as well, should only take 4-5 lessons to pass and my instructor told me it could cut insurance costs by upto 20% Tesco reduces alot if you have pass plus, my mate had £400 off his insurance due to having pass plus.
